  1. So, Of course, since I have all the stuff to ride around comfy in 30 degree weather. It snows and goes into a deep freeze....sigh. Its like 20 outside right now and some of the melt from yesterday is on the road frozen. If it goes up past 40 I'll go out later. As Im typing this I hear a motor running, sounded like a HD going by. I looked out to see if it was a bike.....airplane. good I don't feel so wimpy now. If she dint fire up on the first or 2nd try when its below 30 she don't want to start anyways. I have to wait a little while and try again . Took 3 trys the other day. But when the sun was finaly covered by clouds and it got near rush hour. She fired.....
  2. Very glad to here no dogs were lost or stressed. Service dogs are so important, thanks.
  3. Bart, handles all security concerns. This model has proved very willing to do guard work. He is a cowherding dog like the rotties.

  5. Tons of parts on ebay, some stuff you will have to get from the dealer/stealer. Other guys will have to help you with your problems, I just got my 88 Venture. And it didn't need to much. So I'm waiting on the title to come back to me to get legal. There is some stuff called "plastix" I think they use to fix the body parts. Fantastic things can be done with it, in the right hands. Look thru the first gen tech topics for alot of info. Good luck.
  6. Dont do either one. Homegrown PC for the win! I do it all the time, no problems at all. And your not at the mercy of dell and apples proprietary parts and software bloat. Easy to upgrade and you can put in much better parts...ie: graphic card etc. So you have a system that can do more than just surf and look at pictures. If you have every done one of those tandy build it radio sets or similar. You should be able to put together a computer from parts. Its all snap and screw. Hardest part is seeing the small writing on the motherboard and wires. My last upgrade cost me $400.00 bucks and it is not a wimpy computer at all. I can play all the new 3D/PC games....and I do:Laugh: Never crashes or gives me a problem. Dell is good in you just need a email surfing computer for $400.00 complete. Look for "Dell deal" online. Dont add anything to the order unless they give you a free upgrade. And monitor should be included.
  7. First pops brought home a beatup minibike. It worked a couple weeks then died. Then he found a Honda 50cc mini dirt bike with a no clutch 2 speed tranny. Thats was a nice toy. Lasted a while too. Then he came across a HD 50cc 3speed moped kind of thing. It looked crazy, but it was a Harley! It was fun but was temperamental. My HD uncles swept off with that one day. I suspect a trade for parts was the deal. After that it was just riding my uncles Harleys around a parking lot or something. Later I got a Magna V30 and then a XL350 to run around the trails in Potter County PA. I beat em up pretty good then let them go for cheap. I also have had alot of kool bicycles in my day too. I have alot of miles in the saddle from the 12 speed road racer.
  8. Yeah it sounds like a harddrive problem. But, sometimes a low battery on the motherboard will make it lose settings at boot. If you can get into the BIOS. by tapping f8 or delete when you turn it on. Find the hardrive page and see if its detected bye the system. Sometimes a computer I have gives me a "missing NTFS boot" And I have to redetect the hard drive. Goose it right thou, the CD should work. If you have to install a hard drive I can help you do that and then make the one you have now the backup. You should be able to get all your data, unless its trashed. You will need a XP install disk if you want to install WindowsXP. The memory stick swap is a good idea too. Take em out and try each one one at a time. Also if its a older computer, look for bulging/leaking capacitors on and around the motherboard. If you see any, you need a new board. Or you can recap them if you can do that stuff. I do have some "PC3200 DDR" memory laying around, if you find you need that type of memory.
  9. Glad your not too banged up. As we all know the simplest of mishaps on a bike/trike can spell disaster. In the past I have been behind on the protection gear. The one time I high-sided when I "failed to negotiate" a right hand bend. Still don't know what happened... anyways,I wore a old 3/4 leather I had in the closet. Cold and damp and rainy that morning. It was a real thick high end jacket I had gotten from a friend. It saved my ass. The lower right panel was like a babys butt from sliding across the road. I got body slammed and the skid with the bike chasing me as it flipped once or twice. No cars come in the oncoming. Thank god. Crappy helmet I had, saved my head from a bump too.I always where gloves from my bicycle riding experiences. Got back on the bike and rode it to work. Bent handle bars and broke fork brace, dented tank from the slapping and road rash for my previously unblemished bike. Remembering how that jacket saved me. I bought a firstgear textile jacket on ebay last week. Its nice, I got a $400.00 "Sirocco" jacket for $100.00 plus I got 25% back with Microsoft's "cashback" program. I think I'm gonna want the pants now. The jacket seems to be really well made and thought out and I like the idea of removing some of the dangers of going down and sliding etc. So, I'm gonna be geared up and looking like a nerd too, I need to get the pants and some riding boots so I'm cover head to toe:12101:PS:Hope everything works out for you.
  10. Rt 6 in PA is a top ten road trip in alot of mags. I have done it in a cage and its nice. As I'm sure all your states have similar and nicer roads.
  11. i just got done doing the tires on my 88. I took em off as per the directions on this sites, how to threads. Its in the first gen section I believe. Wasnt to hard and didn't need a MC jack. Took the tires I got online for $137.00 shipped "Kenda Kruz" and the wheels to the stealer that quoted me $25/tire. After they were done he charged me $35 a tire. Even thou I specifically ask him about mounting the tires on the wheels I bring to him. A week before I took them up to them. "You didn't buy em from me' " I have to make a living" he said. He bait and switched me. I was pissed. I would have taken them to a small shop I know of, if he had not lied to me about the price

  14. That thing is maxed out. And I thought I got a good deal. $2500.00 would still. be a good deal for that bike. Trunk repairs are worrying, thou. But, so many goodies!
  15. The Kenda Kruz rear tire I just put on, sports a 77H rating as well. Very heavy duty tire and seems to ride real nice too. Price was good also. Got both front and rear for $137.00 shipped:thumbsup2:
  16. These tires are a huge differance from the ones that came off "metz" Marathons. The bike feels great and I hope to get to ride it soon, while its still a little warm out. But, It's ready to go,as far as I can tell.
