Said "Goodbye" to 86'VR and 86'V65 MAGNA Today!
ddoggma replied to skydoc_17's topic in Watering Hole
I'll be ordering a rear caliper for my 88. Over the weekend I think. Work has been slow for me too. But, I need to rebuild mine cause it grabs. And I have pads in the mail, right now. So instead of buying the kits and doing the work. I'm gonna get one from you.and send you my old one. Also, your like 4 hours away from me, so I'll be looking to stop in on your shop one weekend next spring. Get a carb tune, say hello etc. -
eh, It was weak....had a couple laughs. I think they went too far and were beating a dead horse. After like 5 mins in. Plus, your not gonna get away with calling out the HD guys I know.

When I first got the bike. I put Rotella 15-40 in it and she liked it fine. My last change I put in the Delvac and the bike likes it but shifting was a little smoother with the Rotella. Plus if I really jump on it the clutch will slip a bit with the Delvac. I heard it has a small amount of Moly in it. So, that might be the reason for the slip. Next change I'm gonna try the Delo 400. After that I'll go back to the Rotella, unless the bike really likes the Delo and shifts better than the Rotella. They are all good lubes......

If it has water in it. Check the level. My poor cranking was because I thought it was a gel batt. And didnt look at it closely. When I pulled it to clean stuff up, DOH! it was low...way low. Since I put some distilled water in it. It's been fine. Glad I did not ruin it. Being a dumba##

God bless that fallen soldier and the PGR. Phelps is a nut job, for sure. Where do these kinds of people come from?

I have a couple reveiws in the gear section. The BELL Star helmet for $200.00 is a great buy. Its a $550.00 lid that gets great ratings. I run textile gear to save money and I think its warmer. Nice thick leather gloves with the gauntlet for winter riding. Mesh in the summer. I have the mesh jacket and pants for hot weather. It not as good as leather for sliding but it the next best I think. I like a nice 3/4 lenth jacket for the winter with the pants with the removable liners. Good boots are a must also. I like a real MC touring boot for my feet. I'm ATGATT and love it.

Wot 80 mph???
ddoggma replied to Ga Dawg's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yeah. You need to fire her up for half a min. Then feel the pipes for heat. Your most likely running on 2 or 3 cyl. And run half a can of seafoam thru a full tank of gas. See if that helps. If no luck you'll have to pull the carbs over the winter. I have only done 95 or so on the slabs. Lots of throtle left. Feels like 125> would be no sweat, for this bike. -
Those old tires really should be replaced.I went with what most here would consider a budget brand tire. The Kenda Kruz, I got both shipped to the house for IIRC $140.00 They have been great, are wearing well and I'm happy with them. They look good @ 10,000 miles. Front shows more wear than back, but its just starting to show wear. So it's got aways to go. They are noisy in the corners is my only complaint.

LOL HD guys....After lunch, me and my buddy are mounting up. This guy comes running out to check his XL and brain bucket to see if I swiped his glasses or something. So, I took his pic. I did like the guzzi that was parked there.

I'm in that area PA,NJ,Del./Philly. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Springfield&state=PA&address=1511+Wallingford+Road&zipcode=19064 Good place to stop and stretch, gas right up the road. I could tag along for a couple hours or if you need to check the bikes etc. I have a spot, The fall colors are still good that time of year, close to the end thou. I'm on the list of help/assist if you have trouble. Have a nice ride, and watch the traffic in this neck of the woods the closer to NYC you go the worse it gets. Up by Reading the riding is nice on the back roads.

Thanks, Very nice country side you got there. No big ride for me this weekend. Rain sat, took a look at battey and a couple of those connections that I could get to easily. Cause the bike was doing that slow turnover, and starting thing. Thought it was more then a cleanup and top the batt off [was very low] But, that seemed to fix it. Lots of juice now. I hope the batt is OK. Water was way down, like halfway DOH!

Took her for a ride today.......................
ddoggma replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
LOL. Good one Dan. My bike dont shine like that either. Lookin good OP. -
I jumped a two inch or higher a couple weeks ago. Hardly felt it. I used the technique above. And about a million miles of bicycle experience instincts. Any higher than what I saw I would back off like you did. And if it was concrete like someone posted. I would not try it either, if it was any higher than 2 inches. Guy on his mini bagger sporty thought I was nuts. From the look he gave when I did it. Silly noobs.....

I put 3,000 miles on hy bike last winter. Just make sure theres no H2O/ice on the road. Shady low lying road will have old patches on ice that didn't melt awau. So, watch out for that. Even if the temp is in the fortys. I would not ride at night in the winter unless its been dry for weeks and you know there's no 'black ice" on the roads:080402gudl_prv:

My Kendas make some noise when I lean her over. But they are wearing like iron, and feel good in the rain. As in, no noticable slippage. I have close to 10,000 miles on them. And they look pretty much...new still. The front shows more wear than the rear...lol

Fate, never passes up a chance to show me how fragile my people and I are. Its makes no sense to ride side by side or bunched up tight...to me. I can understand the cage thing thou, but you dont have too be up real close to fend them off most times. I use the staggerd 2 sec rule, and pull up side by side at the light etc if I need to chat. I'm sure it's doable by advanced riders, but out on the road there are just too many X factors. My goal is to eliminate all X factors from my ride. LOL I do my best. Oh and I feel for the guys that crashed, they have familys too. Sounds like a couple got hurt bad. Hope they make it fully back.

New Air Filter...
ddoggma replied to mbrood's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just put a EMGO air filter in my "88" The bike really likes it. Got it for 26 bucks shipped. I have waited on replacing the AF till now, cause the stealer wanted like $60.00 bucks for one. Finally found one for less and took a shot. Must have needed one bad cause the differance is huge. Bike sounds, runs and even smells better. Like its burning the gas better, less gas smell etc. Big grin the whole test ride:D -
God bless them all! And thanks for your service. I'm still very angry about 9/11 I will never forget it...or forgive those who did it.

You got em and will keep em coming......

When I first got her I was having trouble getting er up...lol The above method does work after you do it a couple times. Also make sure you have boots on I tryed it in my sneekers and dang near broke my foot. Just from pushing on the horn. One of those little bones in my foot moved or something. Hurt like the devil for a week or two.
