Hello george_park. I have a buddy who owns a BMW and his headlight is also very blinding at any angle. It may really be your headlight aimed too high, but sometimes I doubt it if you have not made any adjustments previously. The best thing is to check it. I do like the aiming of my headlight as it is and it does light up the road + the light bar even on low beams. Wonder where you are in SE Pa. We live in Stewartstown near the MD/PA line.

Pure-One PL14612 vs PL14610 & fit?
N3FOL replied to frogmaster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thinking that the Purolator is a car oil filter, I found a link for FRAM motorcycle filters that will fit the Venture. It is FRAM motorcycle oil filter model PH6017A and it is the same filter that I used on my last bike...the Vulcan. Here is the link. http://www.rkexcelamerica.com/street_fram_yamaha.html I can buy this moto filter from my local Advance Auto store. -
I have sat on my friend's TD, but did not really notice the placement of the handlebars compared to my Venture. Just looking at the seat of the Venture, if feels comfortable and I can ride for many hours without getting sore. If you plan to get the TD, I highly recommend upgrading to a Venture seat.

Pure-One PL14612 vs PL14610 & fit?
N3FOL replied to frogmaster's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I called our local Advance Auto and they could not cross reference an oil filter except the K&N filter part KN303 or KN303C for my '07 Venture. Thanks to this thread, I can now ask for PL14612 (will stay with the stock size). -
Carburetor Synchronization
N3FOL replied to N3FOL's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Keith, I may order the carbtune soon. Thanks for the site in California. How about the meter to check for RPM/idle. What kind of meter did you get? I should find out exactly where the idle screw is in my Venture. Have you sync your carbs lately?- 4 replies

Carburetor Synchronization

The 'Carbtune' looks like a very nice tool. Is this special tool only available at Yamaha dealers?- 4 replies

I plan to do my own maintenance for the 600 mile service recommendation. I can do the oil change, final drive oil, and do a whole lot of safety checks. There is one thing that I am not so sure off...is the carburetor synchronization. How is this accomplished? Is there a special tool? and/or is it necessary this early in the life of the motorcycle?

Decided not to buy 2007 venture
N3FOL replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There are still lots of good deals out there for a used or brand new Venture. I just got mine yesterday from a dealership in New Castle, PA. It was a 300 mile ride, but I really do not mind. For an '07 Blue Venture with 1 mile on the odometer and OTD price was $13500, I couldn't pass out the deal. -
Harley touring versus venture

I've had a V-Twin for a about 2 years and may never go back to a V-Twin as long as I have my RSV. -
Roll-on engine vibration

I am just getting used to my Venture and you guys are right, this bike wants to be revved. There is a lot for me to learn about the bike...I normally would shift from 4th to 5th at 55 to 60 mph. -
I finally picked up my Blue Venture and she is a beauty. Saturday morning, I started early around 5 am and headed west to Pittsburgh, PA for a nice 300 mile ride. Once I got there at the dealership, I stayed for another hour and off I go with my new ride for another 300 mile run back home. I will post some pictures sometime Sunday or early Monday morning. Thanks for all your input....BTW, I am 5'5" and did not need to have my Venture lowered at all (glad I did not go that route). I can at least flat foot one side and the other with a little tip toe...I am just wearing my regular riding boots .

8K miles is too early for me to replace a spark plug. But if that is what the MOM recommend on the Venture, then it really has to be done at the correct interval. I am sure that after 10K to 15K the spark plugs are still fine. For a peace of mind, I would replace the plugs.

I visited a Renegade Clothing store here in York County, PA. last night and they did have some boots and most Harley brands...but they did feel a little too heavy for me. I have a pair of steel toe boots with an 1'5" heel...so I hope this will do it for now.

Sorry about that Spotsy, but looking on eBay...there seem to be more Ventures for sale. I think there are at least 2 '08's right now still up for grabs. Ride safe.

I just got off the phone with the dealership. Looking at the specs of the Tour Deluxe with a seat height of 29.1" and the Venture with 29.5", we are just looking at 0.4 inch difference.....(not even an inch higher)...So, I told the dealership to skip on lowering the bike and I will pick it up tomorrow around lunch time. I just have to find myself a riding boot with a 2 inch heel....either my local Harley dealership or our local Renegade clothing shop may carry them.

Do you have to take off the existing side stand when the center stand is installed? It must be a bear to get the Venture on a center stand, if you are not tall enough.
-
Thanks for all your input. Here is a glimpse of the Venture that I may p/up late this weekend or early next week. The dealership had already installed a run/brake light that is installed on top of the trunk and added a light bar. They are just waiting for the Barron's kit to arrive for installation. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&viewitem=&item=120304798155 As far as lowering the front, I think I will not go that route. Some Venture riders say just to keep the forks and rear shocks on '0' pressure and it should be fine. A good 2 inch sole on a boot will definitely help too....I wonder where I can find one that tall?

I only have the back lowered by about 1'5" to 2". According to the dealership, it will actually make the bike easier to handle at slow speeds. The only issue that I was able to get from my co-worker who owns a Tour Deluxe is if the tank is full of gas...it can be top heavy. But as soon as you take off, it is smooth as silk on the highway. I've checked the specs on the Venture and Tour Deluxe as far as seat height is concerned. The Venture has a seat height of 29.5" while the Tour Deluxe has a seat height of 29.1". Not much difference. I sat on his bike this morning and I can almost flat foot the bike standing straight....not on its side stand. With another inch lowered, I am confident that I can flat foot the bike with no problems. Thanks for all your inputs and as soon as I can get some pics of my new ride, I will post it here.

I am currently using Metzlers on my Vulcan and have no complaints at all. Not sure what Ventures come with stock from the factory (maybe Dunlops), when the time comes...Metzlers may be my next tire once again.
-
Thanks, Mariner Fan. I can't wait to pick it up, but before then they have to install the lowering kit for I am only 5'5" tall. My co-worker has a RS Tour Deluxe and I can flat foot one side but a little tip toes on the other foot. I assume that the '07 Venture has almost the same height as the Tour Deluxe.

I may be picking up my 2007 Venture from a dealership in New Castle, PA. next week with only 10 miles on the odometer. Wondering what generation will the 2007 Midnight Venture fall under...is it 2nd generation?

How tall are you that you have to lower the Venture? I am 5'5" and not sure, if I will fit ok without any suspension mods.
