Not sure Mike. When it comes to gas stations, they are so fast to increase their prices on the pumps in a blink of an eye and it takes about a day or two before prices at the pump goes down. Tire prices, your vinyl and upholstery materials I think all are made from pretroleum products...so we should expect their prices to go down as well. The big question is 'How much will the price drop'?

Check the idle speed before Carbtune
N3FOL replied to Canuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
This morning, I went ahead and used my Carbtune Pro. It is one of the best tool I'll ever have for the Venture in addition to the clamp on meter to read idle speed. It took me 15 minutes to synched the carbs and it seems that I've done mostly left turns on the screw driver. My initial readings appear to be Carb 1 and 2 are lower than Carb 3 and 4. I had to adjust 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4. Every instruction that I got from this forum is on the dot. Now, all my carbs are pretty much even to each other and idle speed at 1000 rpm. -
It might be a great idea to synch your carbs when you get a chance.
-
Gasoline prices is on its way down, buy CNN states that if it ever goes down ... it will be at a slower pace from now on. I agree, 36 to 41 is ok, but after synchronizing my carbs this morning...I hope to get a better gas mileage (I'll have to wait until my next fill).
-
Hello Cody. Speed surely kills mpg. When was the last time you synched your carbs?
-
+1. Not to mention the type of mixture they add on gasoline - this may also decrease mpg.

I've heard from other riders that they spray a little bit of WD-40 in their empty tank during winter storage. Not sure if I am willing to do this on my bike...the good news is that I do not winterize my bike. I will ride all winter long with my tolerance around 30°F.
-
My last two tanks were 36 and 41 mpg. It seems to be fluctuating a lot. I have not synched my carbs yet, but I am hoping to get better MPG after synch'ing...(I run highway between 65 to 70 mph) What is the best MPG on a 2nd gen Venture out there?

Check the idle speed before Carbtune

Very good. Sounds like your Venture is nice and healthy and good for another 3000 to 4000 miles before the next oil change. I did my own oil change and final gear oil at 600 miles...I intend to change oil and gear oil every 3000 miles. Wonder what was the problem with your front end wobbling?? How did they fix it? Would you like to share your total repair bill? -
Check the idle speed before Carbtune

I already put together the hose with restrictors between the 90 cm tube and 10 cm tube on all 4. My next question is...did you use any adapters on the Venture? I guess I will also find out, when I tackle the job. -
Thanks, DragonRider.

Check the idle speed before Carbtune

Steve, What size adapters did you use? The 4x5 mm or 4x6 mm? Sounds like I will need to use the restrictors and install them on all 4 hose. Thanks for the heads up on the collapsing of the tubes...I hope that I do not have to spend no more than 10 to 15 minutes while syncing the carbs. -
Check the idle speed before Carbtune

I received my Carbtune Pro yesterday and will be syncing my carbs tomorrow. I have adjusted the idle speed when I changed my oil and final drive oil. Now I still have to put my Carbtune Pro together...the Carbtune manual stated that I need to make the dampers....90 cm. of rubber tubing from the Carbtune...then a piece of the clear plastic (cut into 4 equal sizes) as the restrictor...then 10 cm. of rubber hose going after that towards the engine. Do I really have to make the restrictors? What do I really want for the first rubber tubing from the Carbtune...longer or shorter for more or less damping? The kit also came with adapters...am I going to use the adapters or just the rubber hose that came with the Carbtune? I just want to get ready, before I attempt my first carb sync. -
I went to the 'Home' page, but could not locate the 'Vendors' section. Where exactly is it?

Coolant for heat? If you get a leak or a blowout, you will never forgive your Venture.

Buy a new bike with carbs?
N3FOL replied to keithert's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I used to have a Vulcan 900 and that is FI. Never had problems with it for the last 25K miles. Now, I just love having carburetors on my bike...carburetors and motorcycles do come hand in hand. On my next tank full, I will add Seafoam as a preventative measure and longer carb life. -
Great tip, Ruffy. I know a local guy who changes motorcycle tires. Before I let him mount the tires, I'll just take the rims home and clean them...then mount. Ride Safe.
-
I've been reading testimonials at ride-on.com and the positive comments are everywhere. At this point, I think it is good insurance riding a motorcycle knowing that you have the extra edge of not having a flat tire somewhere out there. I think I am sold on the Ride-on product.
-
I went as far as 20 miles on reserve. My mpg from 2 tanks ago was 40 mpg...this time it went down to 36 mpg. My Carbtune II is supposed to arrive today, so I'll by syncing carbs late tonight.
-
When you have to have a new tire installed, did they have to charge you extra (for cleaning) since there is 'Ride On' stuff inside the wheel and possibly on the rim?
-
Where do you guys get this stuff? Will it affect the balancing of each tire?
-
Leslie is looking at you from up above. /\

Not a good thing to loose a mug on the interstate...would hate to be behind you:scared:
