I don't recommend those battery operated gloves for motorcycle riding. I have a pair and are of poor quality. Honestly, I feel like I just wasted my money for getting them from Hammacher...

If I am lucky to get the Venture lift adapter from a fellow member this week, I may take a ride down to Chambersburg, PA. and take advantage of the low gas prices up that way. Regular in our area is $2.49/ gallon. Not bad compared to 6 months ago.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your new ride. Since you don't have a lot of Royal Star bikes out there, do you find it hard to look for a good mechanic that would work on your bike or are you are DIY'er?

Very nice mpg, Stroker_Ace! For 2 up on a Venture I think is good. 1,057 mile trip sounds like a fun ride. Did you do that is just one day? I've tried Regular on my Venture one time and perhaps it is just me...wanting some peace of mind. So I just fill up with Premium fuel ever since...$2.69/gallon/Premium currently in our local area:thumbsup2:.

After all that work, don't forget to synch your carbs...it may help a bit. -

I hope you re-consider. This is what fun forum discussions is all about. Hope you did some riding this weekend. -
That does not look good. I am in the impression that your tank has been repaired previously? Good thing you got your tank off and emptied...hope you can get those holes straightened up and covered under warranty.

Do I have the famous "chirp"? Or?
N3FOL replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My Venture sounds like a turbo on acceleration and I love the sound. The more I ride it, the better it runs. However, the noise characteristic as explained earlier is a good thing to keep in mind. IMO, it is just the nature of the Yamaha engine. -

If you are 'in-Gear' with the 'clutch In' and you put your side stand down (assuming that the engine is running) , the engine will cut-out. I do this as part of my safety check. -
Check with 'RichLockyer' (user name) in the Kawasaki Cruiser section. http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum. He may have an answer for you.

If the clutch lever is 'pulled in' and you are in gear and you put your sidestand down, I believe the engine will cut out. -
PM sent.

The phenomenon sounds like a normal occurence. -
The dealer recommended mid grade for the bike. My co-worker recommended Regular. I've been filling my Venture with Premium ever since...just a few cents more and the bike seems to run great.

I have an '07 Venture. With the Jack Adapter, can I easily jack up my bike just by myself?

...it is your $ that you are spending.

40 mpg is not bad at all, assuming your calculation is correct. Here is a nice site that you can just plug in your numbers and get a result. http://www.easysurf.cc/cnver4.htm As far as cold weather is concerned, I've seen a decrease in mpg in the winter perhaps due to the type of fuel mixture that is sold in the winter months.

Check the idle speed before Carbtune
N3FOL replied to Canuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Seaking, The meter is very user friendly. Simply clamp it on one of the spark plug wires and it will read rpm. There are different settings on the meter for X1, X10 and so on...so it depends on you as to how you like your numbers to appear. I think the first time I used my Carbtune and clamp on meter...it already paid for itself. -
Now that fuel prices is on its way down...slowly but surely, it makes it a lot more fun. This morning in the news...I think it is somewhere is Missouri...there is a gas station there selling regular for $1.99/gallon.

For 2 up and with a trailer and get 45 mpg, that is Awesome! Whenever I run the backroads, I tend to get better mpg.
-
I don't personally want the idea of paying extra or just simply have Nitrogen in my tires. For peace of mind, I would rather keep on checking my tire pressure every now and then for safety, good fuel economy, and longer tire life. FWIW, Nitrogen is slightly lighter than Oxygen...does this means your motorcycle will go faster?
-
I think it is typical for most metrics to have a speedo that is off. Just like my former Vulcan, the speedo read 5 mph faster. There were several ways to correct to the problem, but I left it that way. I had a feeling that my Venture's speedo is also off. From my previous post, that speed is what is indicated on the speedo....so technically if I am travelling 70 mph on the speedo I am only going 65mph.

Hi MikeC. I got mine about that same time via UPS Ground. The only exception on the delivery was that the vendor required a signature and I am always never home during the week to receive the package. I ended up taking a nice ride to their UPS facility locally in York, PA. and received it just in time for the weekend. -
Looks like 36 to 46 mpg is the norm depending on the weather and how much do you squeeze that throttle. I am shooting for mid 40's and if I can get 43 to 45 mpg, I am a happy camper. Lately as I cruise down the highway and just like this morning, I maintain my cruising speed between 68 to 70 mph. If on cruise control, I would set it at 70 mph.
