  1. So, it is an '06. Should this be covered under warranty? What if you didn't pull off your front wheel at that time, did you ever suspect that the front wheel bearings are bad just by normal riding?
  2. Just curious, Ponch. Why did you have to have your Carb Float setting adjusted? When I checked my air filters at 4000 miles, removing the cowling was not too bad. I torqued the bolts back on using little pressure and I can see if these bolts are overtightened, it may easily crack the lower cowling. However, it sure was very nice to be able to see what is inside and behind that lower cowling.
  3. You are right. The Venture is listed. I already have the Carbon One lift adapter with legs and am happy with it. The J&S lift is trully amazing and well worth the money.
  4. Wondering if their jack will work on a Venture. Looks like it is made for HDs only.
  5. Oh my goodness, I am going to throw up.
  6. I've been experimenting on how the ride feels on different psi settings. When I just got my bike, I stayed on 25 psi and that was ok and soft. After a couple of months, I went up to 35 psi. At this setting, I think it is the best so far riding solo. Yesterday, I am at 40 psi and it felt just right riding this morning to work. I may keep 40 psi for awhile, so I don't have to add air if I have an unexpected passenger and no air pump on hand.
  7. This thread is very helpful to me. I also have an '07, but with only 6000 miles. Sounds like the Fuel Filter and Fuel Pump are the culprits. If I can remember down the road, I may go ahead and replace my fuel filter somewhere between 10K to 12K miles. I hope my fuel pump last longer than 50K miles.
  8. Thanks for the link. The products seems very nice and just like the wing nuts, no tool is needed to loosen and tighten the bolt. Lots of options. So far, my flat bolt with the lock washer is holding tight.
  9. Well, it happened to me. I was checking the bike over last night and noticed that my right seat bolt is missing. I was able to find a lock washer and an 11 mm flat bolt in the garage with the right thread to keep the right side secure. Now, I have a 10 mm bolt on the left and an 11 mm bolt to the right. I guess wing nuts can be my best alternative...the next time I end up at Home Depot...for my 'To Buy' list. For now, my seat is not going anywhere.
  10. May be a good idea to add air on the rear shocks. Glad to hear you had a great Father's Day celebration. I also stuffed myself with Chinese Food and Sushi yesterday. Now I have to burn most of it this afternoon for a nice workout session. Ride Safe.
  11. As I read through this thread, the numbers for the rev limiter and the speed you guys shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd is incredible. I can just imagine how much screaming the Venture is doing when running 40 to 50 mph on 1st. For me, I don't know if I can ever reach rev limiter. My hard riding shift points would be 1st - 25 to 30 mph; 2nd - 30 to 40 maybe 45 mph; 3rd - 40/45 to 60;...at 60, I usually can just go to 5th gear... I just love the sound of a screaming Venture. Ride Safe.
  12. This is really great information. I wouldn't have known this drain plug behind the 'fake' fins on the right rear cylinder. It sure makes it sound a lot easier now to drain. The coolant replacement job is also on my task list. Perhaps when I hit 8K miles, I may as well change the spark plugs and do the coolant replacement at the same time. I just wonder how much coolant would come out just by pulling the radiator drain plug and right rear plug? I have an '07 that I purchased last October '08 with 1 mile in the odo. Since it is close to 2 years, should I go ahead and replace the coolant? What is your take on this?
  13. I was wondering about that threaded hole by the right rear cylinder. Should it really be opened? Will fluid come out, if I pull on the bike without the bike running?
  14. WW tires are not for me. I can never keep up in cleaning my tires. The rear tire does get a lot of dust, so BW is perfect. Congrats to jburrell and I can't wait to see pics of the new tire on the scoot.
  15. I understand you don't have to remove the whole pipe assembly. Only the end mufflers on both ends will do.
  16. This time of the year:sun1:, I hear and feel my cooling fan come on while stopped at a traffic light. Cruising down the highway, I can never tell with all the road noise around me. Everytime I pull in the garage, my fan kicks On for a few seconds and stops...I also never turn off the engine when the fan is running (wait till it stops).
  17. You have a point there in the State of Pennsylvania. I may just leave it alone and not have a problem on inspection day.
  18. +1 on removing the lower cowling. I checked my air filters at 4K miles (per Yamaha recommended check) and it only took me 5 to 10 minutes to remove the lowers. It is a good idea to remove it since you can wipe the area around the air filter housing and to where the breather tube sits... Have fun working on your bike.
  19. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. I just have to check tire pressure before I turn in for the night. Ride safe everyone.
  20. rbjohnsn, sent you an Inquiry.
  21. Well done on your LED project. Congrats.
  22. I've never been on a long long trip yet on my Venture. when the time comes that I may use the bike more than 300 miles away from home, 'Ride On' products from what I heard is a great companion. CO2 cartridges or a small bike pump is a must. A flat tire on the road is one of my greatest nightmare while riding.
  23. That is good to know on my end. I've already put in close to 6K miles and my turn to remove the rear tire for a replacement is just around the corner. Does anyone have pics of this circlip installed on the hub?
  24. Heal well and fast. My prayers are with you and to the rest of your family. Hope to hear from you often.
  25. I agree with you, StarQ. My tire pressure in front is at 36 psi to 37 psi and the rear has about 39 psi. At 5500 miles, my rear tire still a lot of thread and no abnormal tire wear so far (knocking on wood). I think my wear pattern on the front is normal...if I get 15K to 18K miles on the front, I may have used the tires useful life and it is time to replace.
