  1. That is pretty much most of my riding is...lots of high speed super slab riding. And I love doing it on the Venture! As far as tire noise is concerned, I also get that noise on the lean but that is only momentary...this I can live with it. So far, I have a little over 10K on the OEM tire and may exceed 11K. I've heard lots of good feedback on the Avons and Dunlop E3s and do not cupp as much or perhaps not at all. Ride safe all.
  2. I am just aware of the 'Splines' on the pumpkin side and engine side to be greased down. I may have to make a closer look at the service manual and find out where and what that drive pin and needle bearing looks like.
  3. Good post. I'm getting close to replace my rear tire and the torque spec. is just what I wanted to know soon. 110 ft. lbs sure is tight. I think it is a good thing, because that is the only nut that keeps the axle from slipping off. For my cagers, I just normally torque from 75 to 85 ft. lbs.
  4. I will eat anything that is cooked. Our Turkey today will be cooked by the Amish. Anyway...on top of my list...Sweet Potato cooked in Brown Sugar and Butter after the main course meal. Tomorrow, someone should start a thread on WHO will be the biggest losser before summer time.
  5. ...unless you are an avid Skier.
  6. Just regular Car Wash soap on this end. I try to stay away from dishwashing liquid, since it will strip away any wax protection on painted surfaces of the bike. For tires, I don't think it is not a problem. Most of the time, I simply focus on keeping my wheels clean and not worry so much on the rubber side wall of my tires. Ride Safe.
  7. Glad to hear you guys had a great ride. Thanks for sharing your pics.
  8. I'm IN for this worthy cause.
  9. Amen, to that, Freebird. I hope I can keep my Venture as long as you have kept your Venture. Ride safe.
  10. Wish you all the luck. Watch your salt intake and don't forget to do moderate exercises. Hope you also can sell your bikes soon. Regards.
  11. I still don't buy the idea that Yamaha will stop mass producing Ventures. Due to economic conditions, Yamaha may strategically decide to slow down production and see this opportunity to incorporate new ideas and technological advancement applied to the new models...IMO. I think it is going to be a great start for Yamaha after 2010. BTW, as long as I can still get parts for my '07. I am satisfied.
  12. That may be the trick. "Take off the fuel pump off its mount." But it sure is tight. When spring comes, I may go ahead and order a new fuel filter and replace the old one. By that time, I will be around 13K or 14K depending on mother nature this winter. Thanks for your tip.
  13. That is good to know. But, I won't take your word for it. How involved is replacing the fuel filter? I've seen it last weekend, when I replaced my coolant. Space is very tight.
  14. So does that mean, I may have some Fuel Pump issues next year? OK, I think I'll have to replace my Fuel Filter next season - Spring 2010 for peace of mind.
  15. You really can't go wrong with a new Oil Filter, but that means changing your oil as well. Perhaps next time, replace your oil and oil filter together.
  16. Our local Advance auto do not carry 44K. I may suggest this to their store manager to carry the item.
  17. Sounds like you've got everything planned out very well. Now that your bike now has 55K miles, it may be a good idea for some 44K treatment and don't forget your fuel filter as well. We know that 44K works very well in cleaning the fuel system and eventually clean out the carbs pretty good. I just hope that it does not harm any minor parts on the fuel system of the Venture being such a potent liquid. If price is not an issue, perhaps at least 2 treatments per year is sufficient IMO. Let us know down the road how everything looks like in your fuel system.
  18. I see you have a 2006. To winterize, you should be just fine with using Seafoam. Your bike is still fairly new and I assume that you've been riding a lot this year anyway. I'm in Pa. and I don't winterize but I still use Seafoam time to time. From what we have heard on this forum, the long term benefits of using 44G is promising. The price of the bottle is what takes me away from using the product.
  19. I am speechless.
  20. Bump.... Rode in to work this am and will keep an eye on the level in a few days. Everything seems to be ok, so far.
  21. I went ahead and drained the radiator and removed & cleaned the reservoir. Topped off the radiator and filled the reservoir up to the Full line. After running the bike for about 4 to 5 minutes, I released pressure on the radiator cap and noticed that some coolant back flowed into the reservoir tank. Now the reservoir tank is beyond the full mark. Should I leave this reservoir tank beyond the full mark and then ride for about 10 minutes around the neighborhood and see if it returns to the Full level? Right now I could not ride, since it is raining and it is Halloween night. I may ride the bike tomorrow in the am. Your thoughts please?
  22. Thanks, GaryZ.
  23. I'm very interested to find out exactly this swtich is located to do some preventative maintenance to it. A pic can be very helpful. I hope Storminyte took advantage of the factory warranty on his bike. So, what was the fix?
  24. I have no problem with Goose's comments. He can say what he wants. BradT, thanks for standing up for me. You are right, a part of my decision is to stay with the same brand for the front and rear. I am plenty happy with my OEM Bridgestones with ride comfort and handling. For the last 2K miles, I changed my psi to 40 rear and 37 front. If I get at least 10K to 11K on the rear tire, I am a happy rider. Attached is a pic of my Excedra waiting to be installed once I decide that the rear tire is no longer safe enough to use. Honda Moly60 and one oil seal are waiting in the garage as well. Ride Safe.
  25. I picked up myself 2 Gallons of 50/50 Anti-Freeze Coolant from Advance Auto ON SALE for $5.99/Gallon. Grab them while supplies last. I think even though it is not motorcycle specific, it is safe to use on my Venture. Any thoughts on this? This coming Friday, may be the big day to drain the radiator and unplug those small plugs from each cylinder and clean the coolant reservoir.
