  1. This thread sure did started in 2007...long time ago. As far as gas mileage is concerned, I may get 41 to 43 mpg during the summer. My Ventures lifetime mpg with over 11K miles on it is below. Off course, we all know that mpg suffers a little bit during winter. Ride safe.
  2. * 1984 Jaguar XJ6 - just for a nice Sunday drive. (80K Miles) * 1995 Taurus SHO - now my daughter's car. (175K Miles) * 2008 Prius - great in gas - lots of ammenities. * 2010 Prius - also great in gas with solar panels... That's it.
  3. +1 on Speedbleeder(s). I have them on my bike and it is trully a One Man Job. For under $50.00 bucks, you can have yourself Speedbleeders for your front & rear calipers, and clutch + a couple of 2 large jugs of Brake Fluid...and you can do your bleeding over and over and over again by yourself. http://www.speedbleeder.com/
  4. That is very interesting. So how in the world would someone do a valve clearance check without taking the rear valve cover off? There must be a technique to remove the rear covers.
  5. I also have the same situation on my '07 that I bought in '08. I've noticed this very small oil leak 3 months ago. I am the only one that change oil on my bike and the oil sight glass is always at the midpoint...so the crankcase is not really full of oil. The gasket remains to be moist with oil and it does not even drip on the sides the of jugs...fortunately it is not a dripping oil scenario. With my constant observation, I also noticed that sometimes the gasket will remail moist on that corner and sometimes not at all after a few days of riding it everday. I know it will have to be fixed someday under warranty. I may take a ride down to the dealers this weekend to show them what I mean.
  6. You are right, the $10 dollar gallon container is dino. SAMs that mostly sell in wholesale carry them in a box with 3...1 gallon dino jugs.
  7. I've also been riding since Tuesday, but I really have to always wear my Gerbings. 150 miles in 2 days is a blast. I am hoping that this will continue until Saturday. And this Saturday, I am going with a small group of riders to check out the D.C. International Bike Show this weekend. Ride Safe and stay warm everyone.
  8. I really very worried about you.
  9. The more I hear about this Rotella 15W40, the more I am inclined to get the oil for my Venture. Advance Auto in our area recently had a sale of the White jugs for $9.99/Gallon. SAMs is just $10 bucks and some change per gallon...Rotella dino 15W40 will for sure be in my bike next month for an oil change. However, since it is 15W40 and I do ride in 20 degree weather...will the oil weight matter at all? Perhaps not? What do you guys think?
  10. I just knew something was not right. To my understanding a repo person will not reposses an item as long as it is inside 'your' property...they know the law. Once outside of your property, the said item can be repossesed. I may be wrong...but the bottom line is I'm glad to hear that the bike was found and the bad guys identified. Always lock your bike even if parked inside a garage. Ride Safe.
  11. I'm in for that. Who's cooking the meat?
  12. If I was a Penguin, heck Yeah!!!!!!!!
  13. First of all, I hope you can find the correct replacement for your helmet lock. As far as the helmet lock is concerned, I've never really paid attention to the bolts that hold them in place. Is this a typical occurence? I hope not. I'll be checking those bolts, when I arrive from work.
  14. The Yamaha Manual will say otherwise in terms of psi...and we all know that the spec. is too low even for me. I think Yamaha Manual recommends 36 psi Front and Rear. On my current Bridgestones aka rockstones:crackup:and currently 11K + miles on the rear, I've been running 37 Front and 40 Rear. IMO, as long as you do not exceed the tire manufacturer's maximum psi rating and take into account the load rating of the tire...you should not have any problems. Of course, the more pressure you put on the tire, the longer your tires may last as long as you can take a little bit of harshness on the bumps. E3s are widely accepted in this forum. Ride Safe.
  15. I also know the feeling there. We are just a little more fortunate over here compared to your location in S. Dakota. This morning was just flurries, but it was enough to wet the roads and make it treacherous for a bike ride. My consolation...I was able to ride to and from work for about 55 miles. If I were you, I'll spend time with your bike and give it a nice wax and polish on the chrome.
  16. This part of the job is something that I need to remind myself. My question is...to remove the '3 Long Bolts', do I have to do something with the shock itself while the bike is up on the jack/stand? Are the bolts easy to remove? What I can probably do is to just clean around the bushings and apply grease and then clean the bolts and apply grease. (during my rear tire change)
  17. Or Start Walking. Anyway today, I rode in to work. Wind Chill in the teens, but the Gerbings kept me warm and cozy for the entire ride. I think I was the only rider within a 50 mile radius.
  18. I've been wanting that for the last three years.
  19. We have a 30% chance of snow later this pm. 30% is so small that it might not really happen. So if we don't get anything today, I will for sure ride tomorrow to work. My Gerbings are ready to go this winter. Winter riding is my best time of the year...you hardly sweat.
  20. Happy New Year to everyone as well. Glad to see Equal Opportunity for the sexes. Ride Safe all year long.
  21. I like to get a set of nice LED side markers that are plenty bright...preferably much better that what is available right now for the Venture. Will wait until Custom Dynamics come up with a nice set for our bikes.
  22. ok folks, here is mine.
  23. That sounds a little odd. On my bike, it is a left over '07 and I bought the bike towards the end of '08. Since it was bought in '08 as a new bike, my 5 Year Warranty will not expire 5 Years from the date I purchased the bike.
  24. Are you talking about the plug on the side of the 'jug' that one would normally pull out during a coolant replacement? Glad to hear that the issue has been resolved and covered under warranty.
  25. This is the part that I have not really paid attention to. I know it is a gamble, but I keep on telling myself to always keep track of my key...in the long run, it can be trouble/misplaced key waiting to happen. I will have to think hard about this and try to come up with a plan to carry a spare (I just hate carrying extra keys). The idea of hiding it 'somewhere' is on top of my list.
