  1. +1 on Bambi sightings and it can be any time of the day. (Now that school is over for most kids, I am tempted to get to work earlier...my conscience is telling me not to head our too early especially before sunrise.) Glad to hear nobody got hurt.   2. I really don't mind 2 kickstand on the bike. I'm just not sure that the right side kickstand may be in the way of the Carbon One adapter and lift. Not a bad idea at all.
  3. I'm keeping a close eye on my rear shocks. Everytime I put it on the lift to clean tires, etc...I always look underneathe and hope that I don't see any oil dripping from the shock. I'll stay tuned for txsturgis' update.
  4. I still stick with what I used to use awhile back. It is Kawasaki's 'Wipe Down' and it only cost $5.00 for a 12oz can from our local Kawasaki dealer. I usually pickup 4 cans at a time. As far as plexus is concerned and for $20+ bucks a can...the product is not for me. Sorry, I am just too cheap.
  5. I've had Tsukayu Jumbo's on my Vulcan a number of years back...I say, do not waste your money on the Tsukayu's. I personally do not like how they are made. Stick with OEM hard bags, you'll be happier in the long run.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. I would imagine the calipers are aluminum...if not it is a softer metal.
  7. Wow! I did not realize the rear axle bolt has almost twice the amount of torque compared to the front bolt. Thanks for posting the specs.
  8. That is really impressive on the condition of your drive shaft after 80,000 miles. Looks like you have thousands of miles more to come...ride safe.
  9. I didn't know anything about this pinch bolt until I read this thread. Good information for I am also getting closer to replace my front tire. Perhaps by the end of this year, a new tire may already be in place.
  10. For water to get in the final gear oil assuming that the plug is properly torqued, the seal must be in real bad shape to allow this to happen. I've never replaced my final gear bolt washer as of yet, but I shall replace this the next time I change gear oil. I think it is about 50 cents each at my local auto parts store.

  12. After reading your pdf attachment, adjusting the headlight beam is not so bad. The instruction shows a car and I will assume it is similar to motorcycles.
  13. My Dream Ride is to be able to ship my Venture to the Phillipine Islands and Ride North of Manila and ride. This may be the best vacation I will ever have, but it is just a dream for now. I also would like to cross the Baja Desert on 2 wheels someday.
  14. The price is a little steep for me for what the device is going to do. However, I am also interested as to how it would accurately work on the Venture and eventually be inclined to buy one in the future. Thanks for taking the time to share this to forum members.

  19. For just two 10mm bolts, I figure it is worth it to have more working space in as tight as the Venture. With the fuel pump out of the way, I can easily have one hand holding the hose and a pliers on the other hand. The next time I replace my filter, it may take me about half hour with no competition around me. Good Luck on your relocation project and let us know how it went.

  23. Not really sure. I did not look further, since I didn't want to tear things apart yesterday.
  24. Do you know what is that hose next to the battery? My best guess it may be a vent hose for the battery. (See pic)
  25. Last night, I finally got the chance to change my fuel filter. It took me just under an hour after unbolting the cover, fuel pump, and that small black plastic that is to the left of the filter. What is that part called that is left of the fuel filter and a relay type looking piece just in front of the fuel filter? As I was putting everything back together, I discovered that the bolt that fastens the white clamp as depicted on the picture has a bolt behind it...it was almost impossible for me to put it back together without dropping the back bolt so I decided to use a plastic plug to hold the clamp in place and I don't think it is going anywhere. At the end, it took me longer to wipe around the hoses and parts...it sure is pretty dirty in there. As a preventative maintenance, I am thinking every 15K miles my fuel filter is going to be replaced.
