Drive Belt Slack
N3FOL replied to N3FOL's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
The last time I called Yamaha Customer Service, an automated machine answered until it kept ringing and ringing...I'll try again this coming week and hope to get some clarification. It is not time for me to replace the belt, but any knowledge gained is beneficial. -
I was reading through the service manual preparing myself to bleed my brakes and came across this on page 3-18. What is the difference here... 4.0 to 6.0 mm on maintenance stand.... 5.0 to 7.0 mm on what? Kick stand perhaps?

This is comforting to know, Yamaha assured you that the shop would take care of any battery issues. IMO, if it has not been started since Nov 22... I personally would like to plug in the battery on a tender even for just a few hours or so.

I agree...a May feel more confident on a trike while on snow. No leaning on a turn makes it safer. 😀👍🏻

Hamm radio on my bike, things that make you go hhmmm.......
N3FOL replied to Jesusjunkie's topic in Watering Hole
@Jesusjunkie Welcome to the forum. I've thought about installing ham radio equipment on my bikes, but I realized that I need 100% of my attention on the road and enjoy the ride itself. That is what the HT is for...I take it with me all the time. The only time I use the radio when mobile is when I am on my cager. It takes a lot of planning and selecting the right equipment for your bike is the key. VOX operation may be your best bet when it comes to tx/rx. I am not trying to discourage you, but if you do install ham equipment on your bike...be safe out there. 73 -
Cute cat. I does remind me of the cat in the Austin Powers movie.

Rode yesterday to and from work yesterday. Temperature stayed in the upper 20s. The ride home happened to have some passing snow flurries and thank God that is all I got along the way. Nothing really to worry about. Today, rode again with temps around 32°F and will dip down in the low 20s in the am. The heat on the bike definitely helps immensely. It makes the ride so comfortable. Cool Moon tonight.

True...Shinko has several type of tires. On this matter, Shinko 777 is the only one I know that owners use on their RSV including me as far as Shinko tire is concerned. I appreciate the information gained from the video and yet there are several factors that can cause 'the death wobble'. I have not experience this on my RSV so far, so I guess I don't have a bad batch of the Shinko tire that is referred to in the video. In which case, we always have to be aware of the unexpected and try to control the things that we can control like tire pressure, proper maintenance of your bike and riding habits to name a few. There is so much to read and watch online and I continue to learn something new from fellow riders everyday. Ride Safe.

It is very difficult for all of us during this pandemic and I have started to believe that we are still several months away from normalcy. The question now is, how is the new normal going to look like? What science and health care providers can do is to aggressively treat the symptoms, but it is not a cure. Getting hold of any of the therapeutics 'they say' might work can be a daunting task. I think there is just not enough circulating around the country and the focus on trying to administer them and the response given to the general public is still not well organized. It is heartbreaking that our senior citizens, our loved ones are suffering and I am very worried about my parents who are in their 80's and very vulnerable. As opportunistic as COVID-19, I pray that science continue to make progress. Stay safe everyone.

Merry Christmas to you and yours. Stay safe and also hoping that we all return to normal activities next year.

Y'all Ya'all can help out, if you are of such a mind

Praying for speedy recovery. -
We are going to have a lot of measurable snow later today here in the PA area/NE. I hope none of you guys are planning to ride through snow. It may be about 5 to 7 days before I get to ride safely. Salt on the roads needs a nice rain. Not looking good.

"O God, our refuge and strength, at this very moment, Earl needs your strength and presence in his life. He is anxious and fearful and needs your help. We claim your promise that he will not be given any more to bear that he can handle, that your strength will be sufficient, and that he will be granted your peace which surpasses all understanding. Amen." (Prayer for Strength: sjhsyr.org)

Wiped down the RSV and left her at home. I’ve been riding for about a week now using the SVTC simply because I need heat. 27° commute this am - just layer up properly. (Will read about changing brake fluid on the SVTC)🤔

I agree @BratmanXj. I will also go anywhere with at least 3 wheels on the ground. Very tricycle. For this week, I've been riding since last Saturday even when temps are in the low to mid 20's. At least no precipitation in the form of snow yet. I always have to keep a close eye on the daily weather forecast and beyond.

@FlyinfoolI think the snow is closing in in our area. I heard Ohio got a large amount of snow fall over the last few days. I need to ride as much as I can until it is impossible to ride. Winter is here.

@bpate4homeThat is a nice looking bikE. It is also the type of bike I would be comfortable riding through snow. It might actually be a lot more fun than a heavy cruiser. It is the type of bike I’d like to install a sidecar. Below is my pic, when I took a vacation back home in the Philippines. Ooops. Forgot my drink.

The forecast did not call for snow, but it came without warning. I rode through it for my last 15 mile ride. My speed was down 20 mph and not leaning the bike too much on the curves. For safety, slowing down is the key. It was not my cup of tea to ride in the snow. Knobby tires is not an option. My SVTC did perform well, but I was so nervous.

I'll carry over mine for next year. Hoping that 2021 will be better than this year. [2021]

I didn't buy any on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I simply kept my selections in my cart and I find shopping a lot harder than actually going to work.

Glad to see you are back home and online. Get lots of rest.

I'll be the 3rd one on this thread to attest that Shinko 777 has performed as well as other big tire manufacturers out there. My rear 777 has over 10,000 miles now and I think it will last for another 5K to 7K miles. No complaints on this end. My front 777 was installed about a year ago also with no complaint to mention. I think more and more riders are beginning to trust the 777 tire. FWIW, my next tire for the SVTC will be a 777 too, when the time comes.

Brewing is a skill. The more you do it, the better you will be. One basic skill comes to mind...."The Skill of Listening. It is not what you want to brew, it's about what the customer/friends wants to drink." Mike Alcorn.

That sounds like a very nice ride date on Friday night. Personally, I think 50° is my best riding outside temperature. It sure was unusually warm for the first two weeks of November. Because of that, I am also enjoying lots of ride time and even not using my vehicles for over a week. Today, the rain came back for only a few hours and will be riding again even if temps dip down in the low 30's. @Freebird I am confident you'll still get to ride several more times before the end of this crazy and eventful pandemic year.
