  1. @Du-Rron Unfortunately, the tire leaked air as soon as I pulled the nail out. At this point, I consider the old tire as a recyclable item.
  2. @RDawson I agree. I spoke to Yamaha's field service advisor for the east region and he said to change the tire in a heartbeat. I also called my trusted yamaha shop and they said replace the tire. I will be ordering the tire today and will remove the wheel tomorrow. As I think about it more and more, is it worth saving a few dollars....you guys know what I mean. My wife ultimately said, go buy a new tire.
  3. I agree, I like the plug and patch route. I'll be posting updates and developments of the repair as soon as I make up my mind what to do with the tire repair. Thank You All for your guidance!
  4. @SpencerPJ I like your suggestion on plugging the hole for now. I do have a plug kit that I bought over a year ago. This rear tire still has good tread and only has a little over 7K miles. I really hate throwing it away. One good advantage on the SVTC is that it gives us real time tire pressure monitoring...I just have to remember to always take along the portable air pump. The other option is to simply replace the tire and be done with it. This is my dilemma.
  5. I pulled out the nail this afternoon and it looked like the nail went in a little sideways. Because of that, at least an inch of the nail went in. It was a pretty long nail…. Once removed, air came out 🥲 Today, I was still able to ride and used my very dependable ‘07 RSV. Tomorrow, I plan to take off everything in the rear to get to the rear wheel. This is my first time doing this, so I will need all the help I can get. I really can’t feel any cord per se, so I think the tire is repairable. Perhaps a patch inside???? Once I remove the tire, I’ll have the shop assess it. 🤞 For now, I’ll be reading and shopping for a new rear tire to save time.
  6. I noticed this yesterday, when I left in the afternoon for an errand. First thing I noticed is what looked like white chalk. Upon looking closer, my heart just dropped. ☹️☹️☹️ A similar thing happened to my RSV about 4 years ago and I ended up replacing the rear tire. I’ll try to pull the nail out later today and see if it is leaking or not. The tire is not loosing air, so I am hoping the penetration is superficial.
  7. Thanks for the heads up. I welcome any upgrades and an improvement to the current GPS. Feeling excited right now. I shall wait patiently.
  8. That is very helpful. Good info. I have less than a thousand miles to go for my next oil change.
  9. First and foremost, congratulations on your acquisition of the 2008 RSV. It is a very nice bike to say the least. You have come to the right place for information and anything that you want to share regarding your 2nd gen RSV. I would like to add, since your bike has been sitting for 2 years, plan on bleeding your brakes anytime soon. An oil change should be on top of your list. Welcome and enjoy the bike...
  10. Glad to hear the rider is doing fine. We've heard this millions of times before, speed is one of the major causes of motorcycle accidents. Ride Safe all.
  11. In order to avoid any road rage, I stay on the right lane(s). Most of the vehicles I pass on the left are the ones that travel well below the speed limit. Be safe and enjoy your rides.
  12. ...that other car passing you on the right may be going 50 mph over the posted speed limit.

    Test rides

@AGrengs I like the first bike your rode, but it is a bike that you don’t want to get caught in the rain. The bags are just too nice to get wet. 😀
  14. I finally got the chance to bleed my brakes and clutch last week on the SVTC. It is an ‘18, so it was time to replace the brake fluid. It took me more time trying to figure out how to remove the right front cowling (I think that is what it called) than actually bleed and replace the fluid. Everything went smooth as expected. My brake fluid is good for another 2 years. 😀 I got a few pics I took during my ordeal
  15. Happy to report...so far so good. I rode at least 7 times now after I picked it up from the shop 2 weeks ago. The stalling problem just disappeared with no reason at all. Keep the shiny side up and ride safe.
  16. As we all know, Wind Therapy is very important for our well being. Ride safe.
  17. @Axman Indeed it is very active. Welcome and enjoy your new to you 'ride'.
  18. @Chris AumandWelcome to the forum. As for your shock, a rebuilt one may be a little cheaper than a new shock. Lots of help in this forum. Enjoy.
  19. That sounds so refreshing. Glad you had a great day.
  20. I finally got my SVTC back. Shop said they could not replicate what I have observed 'stalling'. I even sent them a video of the incident as I tried to do it from the garage before I got it towed and it never acted back up again. This morning, I went to pick it up and rode it back home for at least 20 miles with no problems at all. I was told to simply keep an eye on the situation, because the shop could not replace anything under warranty unless the bike part is not functioning at all. As a consolation, they were able to replace my brake switch as part of the recall. Ride On folks and keep the shiny side up.
  21. Same here SpencerPJ. I know things like these happens, but I am very thankful she did not leave me stranded on the side of the road.
  22. Wow. 45 days is really too long to be waiting for a bike to get done. I hope yours is not going to take much longer. As for my SVTC, I expect to get a call from the shop by Monday to tell me what they find out. They said since the bike is already in the shop, they can also do the brake switch recall at the same time. The weather should be perfect riding days next week. At least I still have my very reliable '07 RSV and she'll keep me company all week long. I'll keep you guys posted.

  24. Two days ago, my SVTC stalled twice a few turns before I reach home base. Not sure why...luckily it did not happen along the interstate. Upon further investigation, I hear gargling sounds right before I start it up. Today, it is headed to the shop for troubleshooting... I am leaning towards a fuel pump. Nice to know the bike is under warranty. Had to use ERA to get it towed.
