Bike not running right - HELP PLEASE!
N3FOL replied to Yamaman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It may also be a good idea to go ahead and synch the carbs. When I first did mine, I was deliberately making the carbs out of synch just to see how it sounds and it idled real bad and sometimes had a low or high rpm. -
I think this is what we are talking about...I only have mine on the left and not on the right rear cylinder. It sure does look like a heat shield.

Bike not running right - HELP PLEASE!
N3FOL replied to Yamaman's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That is a good tip. I was not even aware that spark plugs will be fouled, if the choke is left pulled for too long and not ride with it pulled out. Sounds like Yamaman's bike may just need new gas and more ride time. -

When I adjusted my adle with a clamp meter, I turn the idle adjustment screw clockwise to increase idle and counter-clockwise to decrease idle. -
Lift adapter by Carbon One
N3FOL replied to venture101's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I love the adapter...in fact I got mine used from a forum member. It was a little scary lifting up the bike the first time, but after a few tries I am amazed that I can actually lift my Venture myself by following some tips from members. I winterize my bike by riding it all winter long. -
Heal fast and be back riding soon. Sorry to hear about the accident.

Will it read 1 to 5 psi accurately?
-
So with Nitrogen, I would not be surprised if Formula 1, Indy cars, and Nascar has already adapted the idea of adding Nitrogen on race car tires.
-
Big Tom, you are doing great. I applaude you for your determination. It can be very tempting to start smoking, but I hope that you will never look back and move forward towards a clean bill of health.

Thanks to Butch for packing the adapter nicely during shipment. This adapter is a blessing, when it comes to cleaning the wheels and psi and checking underneathe the bike. :thumbsup:I still have not used the legs, but the next time I jack it up next weekend...I'll make sure that I use the legs for my peace of mind...it is a little wobbly with just the jack.

The front forks have such a low pressure. What type of low pressure gauge is popular to Venture riders?
-
I have the means to put air in the front, but cannot measure the psi with such a low pressure. Wally Mart did not have the low pressure gauge...so looks like I'll have to go to a specialty parts store or to my nearest Yamaha dealership.

When I took delivery of my bike last month, my shocks had 0 psi on them. The ride experience was nice and I did not have any complaints. Last week, I put in 25 psi on my rear shock and left my front psi at 0. When it is time to ride 2 up, I may pump up my rear up to 40 psi. I use a bicycle hand pump for my rear shock and it can be used for the front as well. When the weather is nice, I plan to take a ride to my local Yamaha dealer and get myself a low pressure gauge. Next month, I plan to put 1 to 2 psi on the front forks for experiment.

If all works out well, you might end up with 3 bikes in your garage.

Goldwing Tow Bike that can Tow 2 Harleys Pictures
N3FOL replied to frogmaster's topic in Watering Hole
I really wouldn't mind working for the tow company and be one of their bike tow team. It must be fun, but I am sure it also has its own downside. -
My guess would be to make it easier to start the engine during cold days.

Goldwing Tow Bike that can Tow 2 Harleys Pictures
N3FOL replied to frogmaster's topic in Watering Hole
These bikes were designed to work on the narrow streets of Japan and retrieve or move on the side a disabled vehicle. Just don't put that GoldWing sideways since it may easily weigh close to a BOSS HOSS machine. -
I agree with KiteSquid. I've had a Vulcan before and it handled fine, but I find my Venture with no lowering kit a lot better and easier to handle than my Vulcan. Considering that is is a heavier bike, I am really amazed. I do have the Baron's lowering kit sitting in my garage, brand new, and due to my heigh at 5'5" I have considered it to be installed...but I thought otherwise and am glad that I stayed with the stock height. Lowering the bike from the rear may help in handling, but not sure how much more improvement in handling you are looking for on the Venture. Whatever you decide, have a great time installing the kit and let us know how it feels. Ride Safe.

The video sound great! I think I am interested...may be a nice X-Mas gift for my Venture. I guess if I have the BUB slip on installed, I don't have to worry about any mechanical problems down the road???

Fuel Pumps on the 2007's
N3FOL replied to Brake Pad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yes, I heard that these bikes don't really want to sit too long in the garage. The good thing is that I love to ride all year long. It was in the low 30's on my way to work and the ride was great. I guess if I continue to run the bike every week, it might help in the long run. -
I've had COBRA pipes on my Vulcan and it sounded great. But witht he Venture, I am not sure if I really want one...if I do I may not hear the radio. Any thoughts on this?
