  1. A cigarette lighter! It gets pretty hot down there my fellow rider. Try to find another place to put it.
  2. I think I have the chrome piece on both sides on mine....will double check tomorrow.
  3. I love the adapter...in fact I got mine used from a forum member. It was a little scary lifting up the bike the first time, but after a few tries I am amazed that I can actually lift my Venture myself by following some tips from members. I winterize my bike by riding it all winter long.
  4. Heal fast and be back riding soon. Sorry to hear about the accident.
  5. Will it read 1 to 5 psi accurately?
  6. So with Nitrogen, I would not be surprised if Formula 1, Indy cars, and Nascar has already adapted the idea of adding Nitrogen on race car tires.
  7. Big Tom, you are doing great. I applaude you for your determination. It can be very tempting to start smoking, but I hope that you will never look back and move forward towards a clean bill of health.
  8. Thanks to Butch for packing the adapter nicely during shipment. This adapter is a blessing, when it comes to cleaning the wheels and psi and checking underneathe the bike. :thumbsup:I still have not used the legs, but the next time I jack it up next weekend...I'll make sure that I use the legs for my peace of mind...it is a little wobbly with just the jack.
  9. The front forks have such a low pressure. What type of low pressure gauge is popular to Venture riders?
  10. I also don't think that it is a Yamaha. However, I don't like the part where the rider got rear ended. The rider had one expensive day ahead of him.
  11. I have the means to put air in the front, but cannot measure the psi with such a low pressure. Wally Mart did not have the low pressure gauge...so looks like I'll have to go to a specialty parts store or to my nearest Yamaha dealership.
  12. When I took delivery of my bike last month, my shocks had 0 psi on them. The ride experience was nice and I did not have any complaints. Last week, I put in 25 psi on my rear shock and left my front psi at 0. When it is time to ride 2 up, I may pump up my rear up to 40 psi. I use a bicycle hand pump for my rear shock and it can be used for the front as well. When the weather is nice, I plan to take a ride to my local Yamaha dealer and get myself a low pressure gauge. Next month, I plan to put 1 to 2 psi on the front forks for experiment.
  13. If all works out well, you might end up with 3 bikes in your garage.
  14. I really wouldn't mind working for the tow company and be one of their bike tow team. It must be fun, but I am sure it also has its own downside.
  15. My guess would be to make it easier to start the engine during cold days.
  16. These bikes were designed to work on the narrow streets of Japan and retrieve or move on the side a disabled vehicle. Just don't put that GoldWing sideways since it may easily weigh close to a BOSS HOSS machine.
  17. I agree with KiteSquid. I've had a Vulcan before and it handled fine, but I find my Venture with no lowering kit a lot better and easier to handle than my Vulcan. Considering that is is a heavier bike, I am really amazed. I do have the Baron's lowering kit sitting in my garage, brand new, and due to my heigh at 5'5" I have considered it to be installed...but I thought otherwise and am glad that I stayed with the stock height. Lowering the bike from the rear may help in handling, but not sure how much more improvement in handling you are looking for on the Venture. Whatever you decide, have a great time installing the kit and let us know how it feels. Ride Safe.
  18. The video sound great! I think I am interested...may be a nice X-Mas gift for my Venture. I guess if I have the BUB slip on installed, I don't have to worry about any mechanical problems down the road???
  19. Yes, I heard that these bikes don't really want to sit too long in the garage. The good thing is that I love to ride all year long. It was in the low 30's on my way to work and the ride was great. I guess if I continue to run the bike every week, it might help in the long run.
  20. Do you still hear your music with your nice sounding pipes?
  21. I've had COBRA pipes on my Vulcan and it sounded great. But witht he Venture, I am not sure if I really want one...if I do I may not hear the radio. Any thoughts on this?
  22. How many miles did you have at the time your bike did not want to start? This is really nice to keep in mind and once I get the first sign of not starting or sputtering down the road...my bike is going to the shop to have the fuel pump replaced. At least I know what to tell the mechanics...(I think the fuel filter is not part of the warranty - could be part of regular maintenance)
  23. treeman, Could you describe how your steering felt before you had the bearings greased.
  24. Did the shop just tightened your steering head or did they tightened and added grease to the bearings?
  25. Yamaman has an '01...so I assume this is also a 2nd gen Venture?
