Nice find Muffin! A friend's Ex has a 250 and a 450. He sold her his 2000+- 750 Shadow but she doesn't like it, so I'm going over today to go thru the carbs and get the 450 running. She's going to sell the Shadow and stay with the Rebel.

Contest Starts NOW! Free accomadations at Maintenance Day
86er replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
Hey Freebird, rummer has it that Bubba might be making an appearance this year! I don't even think we'll need the Todd'sMahal. I might bring my air-conditioned tent. Just need power within 50 feet. Yo Lewis, you better get that knee working well enough to hobble around. -
Squidly is right. In the bigamous, I mean infamous, words of the Muffinman "Just post it and they will come!" The first time I posted a Meet-N-Eat I had 22 people on 18 bikes from 7 states show up! That's what's so great about this site. Hell, just go ahead and plan a rally. I mean if DragonRider can pull off Vogel, anybody can do it!
-
Man, Lewis, you got that trike just in time. We can build a wheelchair lift for the back of it, get you a cripple sticker and you'll be set. I know we can get you to Vogel. Hell, I bet Muffinman would come put you and your wheelchair on a trailer behind the Blonde and tote you there himself! (You'll just have to make a 3 hour detour to hit Jack-In-The-Box!) Get better Buddy, and let me know if I can do anything for ya.

I bought my '86 in '04 with 46K on the clock and turned 100 on an '07 trip. Here's a picture of the roll-over. My buddy that was on the side of the road to take a picture of me taking the picture said I went by too fast. Slacker!

Congrats You Guys!!! One more year done! OK, I know I'm a day late and a dollar short, but you know I love ya!

I put chains on my truck yesterday at about 6pm. I thought that might keep it from happening at all, but that didn't work! I did just make a 25 mile an hour run to WallyWorld. I was smart enough to call and see if they were open. I just wasn't smart enough to ask if they had camper bottles of propane left . Oh well, it was fun anyway.

Landon has asked me a few times if I have any idea was ever happened with his bike. I'll PM you with his phone number, as I don't like to put that sort of thing in the ethers of the internet.

A customer on one of my FedEx routes bought a vintage Scottie and fixed it up. It came out really nice! But he said he did spend a bit more than he anticipated.

I told Bubba that everybody around here was wishing him a Happy Birthday, and he said "I don't think I'm gonna have me no more birfdays 'cause my cousin said that ifn I get any older, we cain't date no more!!" I guess he doesn't want to take any chances!?!

Ya done good, boy! It's hard to believe it's been 3 years. I wish I could pick up the ball for you but I still work Tues. thru' Sat. You did a great thing there mi amigo! I still plan my annual M&E&R&E&R&E in March. I have the Saturday off, I think it's the last Sat. of the month. Mark that on your calendar. Good luck with the new venture. Hmmm, maybe I should give you a call....

Ahrrr Shucks! Now y'all got me all embarrassed! Thanks for good the wishes. I did ride to work at 6am and it was 29 degrees, and after BBQ for lunch w/friends, and beer and cigars thru' the afternoon and beer and wings w/more friends tonight, I rode home at about 35 degrees! But it was still good. Today my tag line seems even more pronounced!!! For those of you up north (see, I didn't use the Y word!) that want to know when we stop riding for the year; this year I stopped riding at 10pm on Dec. 31st and didn't get the bike out again until about 12:45am on Jan. 1st! I had to get home from the bar somehow! Mini, tell the Muffin that I'm going thru' Jack withdrawals! ME NEED FRIED TACO.

My rear shock blew out on me as I was riding a couple of months ago. It sounded like I had run over an empty water bottle with the top on it. Now I am hoping there is a kit or a way to rebuild it. I'm guessing a new one from "Mama YAMA" will be pretty pricey! Any ideas? (stupid question with this group?):

Jeff, I am in for one set of the Bi-Xenon. Maybe two if this will work on a 1400 Intruder. I've got a friend with a Road Glide which has two headlights. He might be interested as well. So I'm thinking that might be 4 of the 10 right there.

I got "mapquested" by my gps for some reason that I don't quite understand. I left the KOA and went over the mountain into Henderson. The reason for that is that just as one comes into Henderson there is a Jack In The Box! For those that are not familiar with Jack In The Box, they have fried tacos that are awesome. They pull the prepared taco shell with the meat in it out of the fridge and drop it in the deep-fryer, then pull it out and add a slice of cheese, lettuce and taco sauce. The center stays nice and greasy while the outer edge is really crispy! As I said, they are Awesome! I was good; I stopped at 6. Anyway, I left there about noon and my gps took me a long ways south, as far as Athens for those of you that know the area, then west, when I finally told t to use highways it shortened things up with I-85. Most of it was on 4 lanes with lots of stop lights. It really sucked! Oh well, I made it home at about 7:00 after stopping at Radio Shack to have my smart phone worked on. A great time at the rally was definitely had by all!!!

Man! I put that title on the thread and about a million posts about Wild Hair 39 showed up! OK, you're not in this Lowell, unless you want to come cut my hair! I told Mini that I'm willing to let someone here cut my ponytail off. But the catch is that it's gonna cost ya. The proceeds are going to help bring Aussie Annie and Quickstep over. If you are interested, this will probably happen at Asheville on Sat. night or Sun. morning or we can set up a Ga M&E or as I told Mini, I will ride up too 200 miles one way to your M&E. Just send your donation to r4774@yahoo.com and in the message box put "Hair Cut". Mini will keep up with the donations and if someone "out donates" you, you can add to your donation. I'm not sure if this will bring any money, but it's worth a try! I've been working on this tail since '04. Six years to grow it and a second to chop it off!!!

I would also recomend getting the national parks pass. It's $80 but we paid for it just going thru' Jellystone. It's twenty bucks per vehicle every time you go thru. We kinnd of based out of Cody and from there you have to go thru' the park to get anywhere west or north. If you're over 60 (I think) then the pass is really cheap. I'm thinking it's about 10 or 20 bucks. The only thing is that you can't buy it online, you have to go to a park office to buy it. And do the Going To The Sun Highway going from west and east, that puts the edge of the road on your' right for better views!

As George said, I got home OK at about 9pm with just a few "interesting" moments. Yes, when you swap the cables you reverse the control. You roll your hand forward to accelerate. You just have to stay aware. I have been mainly using my truck for the last few days but I went to bike night and rode to work today. Before all this happened, I was planning to pull my trailer, with tools, to a bathroom remodel, but decided to take the truck thru' Atl. traffic! I went to a bicycle shop today and bought a few cables and some generic ends, but after looking at things I decided to order the right cables from Flatout MCs at about 60 bucks. I'm gonna replace all but the cruise cable. A friend of mine said that I need to replace the cables every one hundred and fifty thousand miles and not go 150010 miles, which is where I changed my oil. I want to thank everyone that responded to this thread. I was working with my smart phone. That is what is so great about this website. Sleeperhawk was ready to drive a couple of hours to come pick me up; hell, Condor was going to drive over here from Cal-I-Forn-I-A. The problem was that if I didn't make it to work on Wednesday, I would lose my holiday pay.

U can get to them with the airbox off. I got the cable swapped and tied off to the front Carb. Ill posts pics later. If I can get the airbox back on I'm out of here. Thanks Y'all.
-
Thanks, but I have to be at work in the morning. I've got the airbox off but not sure how to get the cables loose. Do thet carbs need to come off to swap them?
-
I'm headed back to GA and my pull cable on the throttle just broke. Anyone near here? I'm going to try and hook the push cable to the pull side.

Ya know, Lewis, I try to get away from Bubba but a lot of times he just tracks me down! I didn't tell him that Muffinman was in town, he just found out anyway. Hmmmmmmmm I wonder if Jamie said something to him. I noticed that he and Paula had left before Bubba showed up. It's been a while but they seemed pretty chummy when they were talkin' about their new motorcycle shop!
