Maybe Day Early But Wishing Everyone A Happy Holiday Season

Eck, I didn't even know that you had a husband!?!?! :rotf: -
Ist die eine Sprache, Squeeze? Wenn so, das ein?

The gremlins get caught in the bell and the constant dinging drives them to distraction, causing them to lose their grip, thus falling to the pavement and being left behind the speeding scoot!!

Carl is correct about getting the balance right. Don't worry about the pipes, they can hold the weight. At the GoldWing factory, they move the bikes around with a forklift by picking up on the pipes. I always pull the wheels off to take them in for mounting. Quite often both at once. And I lift it high enough on the jack to pull the rear wheel out the bottom without removing the saddle bags. To get the right muffler off (the only one you need to remove) you need to have the bike on the centerstand to loosen the front bolt. Then put it on the jack (centerstand up) and tie it down.

Good advice, but don't get suckered into one of those combo Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors! Smoke rises, CO sinks. Smoke detector needs to be up high, Co detector needs to be close to the floor. One unit can't do both!

Yeah! What they said!!! $750! Kelly Blue Book (at least in my zip code) is still listing that bike's value at $3055. You can find parts values at Flatout Motorcycles. Don't sign anything less than the bike fixed and open medicals for at least a year!

This happened about a month ago just outside a little town in the mountains of Tennessee, and while it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's real. A guy was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a really dark night in the middle of a thunder storm. Time passed slowly and no cars went by. It was raining so hard he could hardly see his hand in front of his face. Suddenly he saw a car moving slowly, approaching and appearing ghostlike in the rain. It slowly crept toward him and stopped. Wanting a ride really bad, the guy jumped in the car and closed the door, only then did he realize that there was nobody behind the wheel. The car slowly started moving and the guy was terrified, too scared to think of jumping out and running. The guy saw that the car was slowly approaching a sharp curve, still too scared to jump out, he started to pray and begging for his life; he was sure the ghost car would go off the road and into the marsh and he would surely drown, when just before the curve, a hand appeared through the driver's window and turned the steering wheel, guiding the car safely around the bend. Paralyzed with fear, the guy watched the hand reappear every time they reached a curve. Finally the guy, scared to near death, had all he could take and jumped out of the car and ran to town. Wet and in shock, he went into a bar and voice quavering, ordered two shots of whiskey, then told everybody about his supernatural experience. A silence enveloped and everybody got goose bumps when they realized the guy was telling the truth and was not just some drunk. About half an hour later two guys walked into the bar and one says to the other: "Look Bubba, there's that idiot who rode in our car as we were pushing it in the rain."

A lot of people use FlatOut Motorcycles. They are also good for schematics.

I was going to post and say that I see my name there, but then I realized that if everyone did that, then this thread would get filled up so I won't post that, but I guess I did anyway and just made a fool of myself and that is something that I occasionally do even though I don't try to when I'm posting on here, so I will just let it go at that and not take up all kind of space with nonsense that not everyone would won't to read. Nevermind! BTW: Thanks, Don. You Rock!

I'm at about 15 thousand on the Dunlops that I put on just before Vogel III and my western trip. This is the most I've gotten on any tires. They still look like they did 2 thousand miles ago. Go figure. 404 on the front and E-III on the rear. I have new tires waiting at my tire guy's place, but I'm gonna see how far they'll go. I think they still have a few thou in them. I'm also going to note all numbers and lettering on these tires. I have heard that manufacturers get the best tires off the line. Mainly because they have the ability, and will, to test them to make sure the quality is up to par. The next best go to dealers and then the rest go out to independents and interneters.

A friend of mine rides an '02 Road Glide and he says that Harleys DON'T VIBRATE.......................They Shake!

You may think you're a spoil-sport but it's like a I told a friend when he Snoped a funny story I sent him. Why do we trust Snopes anyway? And even if it's not true....IT'S FUNNY!!!

So if you crash, you want to be a tennis ball with your head sticking out?!?!?!?!?

Great news, Lonna!........... But I don't know if you want to do that!

Apparently Dumblap doesn't think we deserve an Elite III for the front of our bikes. They have been saying it's "back ordered" for at least two years! E III on the back and a 404 on the front is a good combo. I've found that to ride the best on my '86, and I've been known to push it; in the twisties and on the super slab.

:sign yeah that: You gonna do some laps around the living room, Mr Professor?! :rotf: A solid ramp......hhmmmmm.....why didn't I (I mean you) think of that???
-
Hey, Dave, I would think that, as a College Professor, you would know that the old formula always holds true: (power + leverage) - stability = disaster! In other words: You need to stabilize your ramp before you pour the power of a 1st gen to the back wheel! Now, you could have gotten away with that on a 2nd gen! Now, don't do any burnouts on the carpet! (BTW : Whatever you do to the Browner this winter, you will still have to work to keep up on the Dragon!)

It's not hard at all, Ken. I have a homemade hitch which prohibits rolling the tire out the back, but if you have a MC jack, it is easy to lift the bike high enough to pull the tire out the bottom. And you probably only need to remove the right muffler, not both like the book says. The front only needs to be up a few inches. This is also a good time to check/replace your brake pads.
