Here are a couple of pics of my camping set-up. This is on the Illinois River in eastern Oklahoma. If you look close you can see how the tent poles are on the outside of the tent.

I love to MC camp and I too like a tent that I can stand up in. If I'm taking my trailer I will take my big tent, but if I am traveling light, I take my two man Eureka tent. A couple of things that I have learned: 1. You want a tent listed as for one more person than will actually be using it. ie. two man tent for one person, three man tent for two. This leaves room for "stuff" in the tent as well. 2. Get an exo-skeleton tent. My big tent (which is 15 years old!) has shock corded poles that have to go through material tubes on the outside of the tent. This was a real pain and caused it to take 20/25 minutes to set up or take down. Then I got my Eureka and learned about the skeleton style. I took my big tent, a couple of beers, a soldering iron and some small carabiners and and changed it. I used the soldering iron to burn holes in the excess fabric tubes and put eyelets in them. Then I put the carabiners throgh the holes. Now all I have to do to set up the tent is put the two poles together, hook them to the corners and snap the carabiners on the poles. It now takes about 5 minutes to set up or take down! Enjoy your camping! You ought to plan on coming to the August gathering in Asheville, NC. that muffinman is setting up!

I refuse to answer that, Lowell, this is a PG site!

I did my oil seal from the left side with the clutch in. The push rod is smooth and comes out easily. I don't know about the '83, but the on the '86 I don't think that seal would go in from the right side.

Jack, just a little experience to hopefully save you from making the same dumb mistake I made! To find my oil leak I pulled the pipes and collector off and ran the engine up to see where the oil was coming from. Once I found it I shut the bike off and stuck rags in the exhaust ports to keep things from cooling to fast. After I changed the shift rod oil seal, I fired it up again to make sure the leak was gone. All that being done, I started putting things back together. That's when I found my mistake.......I had melted the lower left fairing piece where the cross piece mounts!!! I had to take a heat gun and remelt it to fit back together. It is still bubbled. Moral of the story:confused07:.......Make sure you take the lowers off if you run the bike without the exhaust on it!!!

Congratulations on getting back on the horse! And good luck with the parts hunt! Keep an eye on eBay, I saw the cb controler there recently.

Mine was leaking onto the collector on the left side from the clutch slave cylinder shaft seal. I was going thru about a half a quart a day on my 8k mile trip!

One of the places that I have used for pricing and the schematics is Flatout Motorcycles. Try that link. Good luck!

That's pretty wild! There is some serious lane splitting going on there. I like the end of this one; it's only 48 seconds long: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kvmvb_7sbXo]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/ame]

It finally worked. It brought up Power Desk and then it took another 15 minutes to open! (and pretty much froze up my 'puter while it did it!) But then I touched the touch-pad and it closed and I had to start all over, ARRRRRGH!!! Great pictures though, Dennis. I'm ready to go back!!! That's a trip that everyone should do at least once in their lifetime!

This is what I come up with when checking on the pads at Zanotti. The price is good but the shipping is a killer! I can buy them all day long around here for $35 and if I go to the local mechanic/accessory shop I can buy them for about 30 bucks. I don't see a savings here. Items in shopping cart: 1 FA123HH ( Quantity 1 * Price23.88) $ 23.88 Shipping is $11.46 Total $35.34

So far the link isn't working for me. It opens a new window and then it goes away. I've even checked my desktop and it's not there either. That's a great ride though. I did it this summer as well. I looked at you route, did you do the Chief Joseph Byway between Cook City and Cody? You would have turned left after Beartooth Pass and before Cook City. That is an awesome road too! Going west to east is the greatest way to do the Going To The Sun Highway in Glacier! I got up to 35 or 40 in a left turn there and sure puckered the seat!

I did a search and this was posted 5 times last year and I think it's worth posting again. I don't know the author. A Christmas Poem: The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight. The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep. In perfect contentment, or so it would seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream. The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near, But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear. Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow. My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear, And I crept to the door just to see who was near. Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night, A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight. A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old, Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold. Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled, Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child. "What are you doing?" I asked without fear, "Come in this moment, it's freezing out here! Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve, You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!" For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift, Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts.. To the window that danced with a warm fire's light Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right, "I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night." "It's my duty to stand at the front of the line, That separates you from the darkest of times. No one had to ask or beg or implore me, I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me. My Gramps died at ' Pearl on a day in December," Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers." My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ' Nam ', And now it is my turn and so, here I am. I've not seen my own son in more than a while, But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile. Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag, The red, white, and blue.. an American flag. I can live through the cold and the being alone, Away from my family, my house and my home. I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet, I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat. I can carry the weight of killing another, Or lay down my life with my sister and brother.. Who stand at the front against any and all, To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall." "So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright, Your family is waiting and I'll be all right." "But isn't there something I can do, at the least, Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast? It seems all too little for all that you've done, For being away from your wife and your son." Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret, "Just tell us you love us, and never forget. To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone. To stand your own watch, no matter how long. For when we come home, either standing or dead, To know you remember we fought and we bled. Is payment enough, and with that we will trust, That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

How did you do that? It seems to only want mfr part numbers!?!?!
-
I gotta agree with the others here, Thom. Even if one went to twelve inch wheels and were able to load from the other end (so kickstand were towards the towing vehicle) I wouldn't trust it for the Road Sofa! Too much weight for speed on those tire and a hard stop could tear up a lot of stuff! As to becoming a dealer, if you get a demo free and sell for use as a storage and low speed device.....maybe. But keep in mind your liability if you sell this and someone loses a bike.
