As far as Winfield goes, Jim, I've only missed it four times since 1976. I've usually managed to find a way to convince my employers that I need to be off then! Don't worry, Lewis, with FedEx, I won't be wearing any little brown shorts......................I'll be in little Blue shorts!!!

On Tuesday the 25th, there will be a memorial service to celebrate the life of Greg Darling. The service will be at 4pm in Roswell Ga, with visitation with the family from 3pm. I talked to his wife, Valerie, and told her I intend to ride to the service. She said "Thank you. Greg would like that, and no suits, wear your riding gear and bring your helmet in with you!" I intend to leave my house at about 3:15 for a leisurely ride to the service, arriving about 3:40. I would love for any of you in the area that can make it to join me. I think we could stop for a bite to eat after. Dragonrider has said that he will be here and I believe Blackjack and Fly-N-Lo might make it as well. If you would like to join us and would like my address for your GPS, or directions for your 2D Nav, just give me a call or PM me. Below is the info from Valerie's email to me: As Greg wished, there will be a Memorial Service for him as a Celebration of his Life. The service will be on Tuesday, March 25 at 4:00 PM in The Chapel at Roswell United Methodist Church (Building B), Mimosa Blvd., in Historic Roswell, Georgia (where both our sons were christened). The azaleas and dogwoods will be in bloom, at a time of Rebirth and Easter, a time he loved. Memorial Service for Greg Darling Tuesday, March 25 4:00 P.M. The Chapel Roswell United MethodistChurch, Bldg. B Mimosa Blvd., Historic Roswell, GA Visitation with Greg’s family one hour before and after service in The Parlor, Building B. Directions to hotels from Airport: Interstate 85 North through city of Atlanta (downtown) to I-75 North (signs will say Marietta). Connect with 285 East (towards Greenville/Augusta), exit onto GA 400 going North. From GA 400, take exit 7 towards Roswell (east). For the Marriott, stay in right lane, make immediate right onto Market Blvd. Marriott Courtyard is on right. For the Doubletree, exit toward Marietta (west) onto Holcomb Bridge Road. Hotel is ¼ mile on left. Directions from both hotels to the Church: Exit hotels onto Holcomb Bridge Road (left on Holcomb Bridge Rd). Go 1 mile to Warsaw Road (Olive Garden restaurant is on left). Left on Warsaw Road approximately 2 miles to Atlanta Highway (St.). Turn left. Go through first intersection to second light (Mimosa Blvd.). Left on Mimosa. Church and Chapel are on the right side. Chapel is Building B. Look for signs to The Parlor at back of building for Visitation with Greg’s family. And if you missed it, here is a link to the essay that his 8 year old son wrote. Warning: This is very emotional!

After three and a half years of not working, that ain't real easy! As some of you know, I hurt my back at work in October of '04 (2 weeks after buying my house!) and the last day that I worked was the day after Thanksgiving '04. After a year and a half of therapy, I let the Doc cut me in May of '06. He did a fusion and some other stuff on my back. I was on disability until July of '07 when I was released by the doctor and I left UPS. Since then I've had no income except from roommates that I took in to help with expenses. On disability I was making less than half of what I had been earning. It seems that the more you earn, the more you are hurt by disability, because they have a cap on it. Today I started training with FedEx Express as a courier. The lifting should be a lot less at FedEx. This is the air division, not the home dlivery (or ground). I can lift up to 70 pounds, I just can't do it as repetitively as is required at Big Brown. (What can Brown do TO you?!) The good news is that now I have an income again , the bad new is that this is really going to cut into my riding ! I guess there won't be anymore staying on line reading this stuff til 3am, either! Y'all think of me in the next few weeks while I'm in training! Oh Well, at least I can ride to work. I rode today with massive thunderstorms coming in, I decided that I needed to start the legend early (even if only in my own mind!).

After you clean any electrical connectors, use some dielectric grease on them as you put them back together. I also use it in bulb sockets and on the spark plug wires. If you replace bulbs with LEDs you want to use red bulb behind a red lens. It's brighter that way, the reason being that if you put a white light in, the red lens blocks all except for the red light emitted.

I have just run the syn in the top and the old out the bottom. No need to empty it first with the Valvoline because it is compatible with DOT 3 and 4. That saves bleeding.

Looks like y'all had a good time!

I am so sorry!!! But like mini says, at least you can work on the boy! Congrats anyway Spear!

I got my 86 for $500 (in 04) because it was leaking antifreeze (and the starter sounded weak). It turned out that the PO had laid it on it's side at an ATM. That bent the right side engine guard enough to slightly rub the elbow coming out of the water pump. After rubbing long enough, it wore a tiny hole through it. Originally I fixed it with JB Weld. That lasted a couple of years until I replaced the elbow. -
Sorry I missed you Highway! (And Steve and Jac and Guindalf!) I saw some 2nd gens but mainly on the road. Didn't see any parked. Jac, I think that I saw you outside Cleveland on the way home. You (or another Blue) were going the other way. I was at the Southside Bar & Grill for lunch. (Good looking bartender!) Then we had to head back to the Atl for Killer Creeks St Patties Party. (I won't say how nice the weather was cause I've already POed those that are snowed in!!!) THE WEATHER SUCKED!!!

1989 Venture Oil Leak - HELP!
86er replied to jfarr53's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Also, if you replace the valve cover gasket, go ahead and spring for the grommets around the these bolts. They're a couple bucks apiece but worth changing. I tried to put black RTV on them and it didn't work. Had to go back and replace them. Easier to do it all at once! -
That is really pretty in white.Kind of like a virgin, huh? Makes me think that I might consider going white, if-n when I repaint. HMMM...Might look really nice in a white/black scheme. Kinda like a police edition!?!

I forgot to add a photo from bike night. This was actually the Real 1st bike night of the year, Jan 3rd! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/BikeNIte08002-2.jpg Don't reckon I need to say any more!

Kinda hard to tell where the straps are attached, dray. They could be hooked to the lower triple trees, which would be OK. Or they could be attached to the fairing stay, which would be a real bad idea! I doubt they would be attached to the frame because you're right, sooner rather than later they would snap.

I agree with Condor on all this except the DOT 3. Go ahead and get the Valvoline Synthetic. It's called SynPower. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/VR006Small.jpg

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/A.jpg It does have a tie down bar across the front. As long as the forks are compressed and held firmly (as in tie downs from bar to handlebars) the only way for it to tip over is if the towing vehicle tips over. It's kind of like the Uni-go one wheel trailers. Even on a trailer, the only reason to tie down the back is to keep it from bouncing around.

It is hard to know what to say in a time like this. I also met the "Dog" at Vogel and was impressed. I couldn't find the "Mean" part. Reflecting on the loss of a loved one once, this came to my mind and I found it reassuring. I have given it to others that, I hope, have found some comfort in it. Although Mark has passed beyond the veil that separates us from ancestors, known and unknown, he lives within our hearts, minds and souls. All the lives he touched have known a greater joy than otherwise would have been. Death brings sorrow and pain to the living, but we must remember the ship sailing away over the horizon and those left on the pier saying “Alas, he is gone”; while on the distant shore others are saying “Look, on the horizon, here he comes!” This, then, is the joy of reunion: Man with God. Mark is beyond our physical touch yet lives in the very core of our souls. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, Todd Ride on, MeanDog!

Good question, Eck. Even though it comes with "Bracket for wood ramp", the bars and seat are still up a ways. Interesting that they have a 1st gen on it.

Yeah. But it rained on me from Trinidad to Loveland in late August of last year and the beads went in the trunk!!!
