I haven't been on the site for a few days, shot, so I just read this. Just know that you and Jeanie are in my prayers. As you know, my dad just went through having his lungs fill with water from the combo of drugs that the hospitals gave him. The diuretics did work and he cleared up in a few days. I say this because through all, this site and many others were praying for him and I know that helped him come through it.

Erich! All I can say is: "Quick, Go Buy A Lottery Ticket!!!":rotfl:

As some of you will recall, my dad had back surgery (at 89 yrs) last month and the anesthesia that they gave him made him a little crazy. He was having hallucinations and paranoia, thought he was somewhere else, thought the wall was the floor ("Why do they have the TV and those pictures on the floor?"), etc. One night, as he was having dinner, the nurse brought his meds in and he said "Isn't this the greatest restaurant? Not only do they have great food, they even bring you your pills!" It was scary, but in some ways it was also rather comical. Any way, after a few weeks he was released to a rehab hospital. Another week or so there. He kept asking to be taken home because he felt like a prisoner. Slowly the "sundown syndrome" went away and he realized what was what. He said it was great because it used to be that he had to stop walking and rest because his back hurt so much, now it's just his legs that start to hurt, because he has barely used them the last 4 or 5 weeks. Finally, Wednesday he was released and went home. That night he started wheezing and having a hard time breathing. He said it was like his broncitus coming back. He decided to sleep sitting in his recliner. The next morning he said that he couldn't breath so 911 was called, he was rushed to the hospital (the third so far) and into the ER. He told the doctor that he felt like he was dieing. After tests and ex-rays, the doctor said "You were. Your lungs were filling with water and if you hadn't come in you would have literally drowned." It seems that the other hospitals had each given him meds (some of the same one from each with different names, so he was getting double what he should!) and his body was filling his lungs with water because of them. He was given diaretics, and his body started flushing out the H2O. He spent the next two nights there. He came back home today and is feeling much better. But he was feeling better before. It's scary how badly hospitals can screw up. If my father wasn't so strong and so much of a fighter, he would probably be dead now. I am guardedly optimistic, hoping there isn't something else waiting in the wings to bite us, and hoping that the hospitals haven't screwed anything else up. He wanted me to thank all those that had prayed for him, and especially the VR.o members that signed the get well card for him at the last N Ga Breakfast. Blackjack brought a card and all signed it. I was touched by that as well. Thanks guys! Sorry this is a little long but thanks for listening. Thanks for caring. Thanks for praying. Thanks for being there...Family. T Oh yeah, do me a favor and don't stop praying just yet!!!

Yea, that too, Lewis!!! But I still look longingly as a tour bus passes by. I'd just need rig one of those MC lifts on the back bumper like those motorhome guys have! Or I need to become independently wealthy so I can just ride.................
-
You know that Brad is right, Roy. You can't leave! Heck, we even let him hang around when he didn't have anything to ride! (Of course that was 'cause we didn't want to lose Lonna! ) If I ever have to give up two wheels, Y'all won't be able to get rid of me!

Trunk LED project
86er replied to lonestarmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Excellent job, JB! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_17_5.gif Did you use red or white leds? I've heard that a red lens washes out all the spectrum except the red, so white leds are not as bright behind red plastic as a red led is. Found that to be true on the back of my trailer. -

A friend of mine has family (son, daughter-in-law and new grand-baby) in Hibbing, Mn. She (yes SHE) left last week and spent 3 days in Il with her mother then headed for Mn "to beat the cold and snow". Said she did three hours in cold rain. Oh, did I mention that she did this on her Road King?!?! And did I mention that she is 62 years old?!?! She does 20K+ miles/yr on her bike. She has my respect! Of course I'm getting her to handle the twisties and not just interstate!

I don't think I could take this walk! This is absolutely spectacular. May make you queasy but definitely worthwhile..... El Caminito del Rey (The King's pathway) is a walkway, now fallen into disrepair, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Ãlora in Málaga, Spain. The name is often shortened to El Camino del Rey. History In 1901 it was obvious that the workers of the ChorroFalls and GaitanejoFalls needed a walkway to cross between the falls, to provide transport of materials, vigilance and maintenance of the channel. Construction of the walkway lasted four years. It was finished in 1905.In 1921 the king Alfonso XIII had to cross the walkway for the inauguration of the dam Conde del Guadalhorce, and it became known by its present name. The walkway has now gone many years without maintenance, and is in a highly deteriorated and dangerous state. It is one meter in width over a 700-meter fall, and over time it has lost its handrail. Some parts of the walkway have completely collapsed and have been replaced by a beam and a metallic wire on the wall. Many people have lost their lives on the walkway in recent years. After four people died in two accidents in 1999 and 2000, the local government closed the entrances. However, adventurous tourists still find their way into the walkway.Another mid-day stroll for the ecotourists among you........ http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1438490562 .

First ad-Venture will be, 1000+ miles: advice?
86er replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
This is a great product. I plugged a tire that had about a thousand miles on it and rode it another 12 thousand or so! Stop & Go If you have time to get their kit, do it! -
I started driving limousines http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_10_6.gif in 1984 to supplement my straight commission sales job. Moved into buses to do shuttles and charters. Then went to cross country vacation tours. I got grandfathered into the CDL, but still at a class B. I preferred buses to big rigs because my "freight" unloaded itself, and I usually got to eat free! But there were no bennies in the bus biz, so in '99 I went to work for UPS. That was too hard on the body so I have recently started with FedEx Express as a courier. Still drivin' after all these years, but I miss bein' on the road. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/3/3_10_3v.gif .

scraping noise
86er replied to nowindinmyhair's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I, too, get a scraping noise, but it is usually at a little faster speed and in a turn!?!? -
Dano, in the last thread, posted this picture of the one he made. The slots look kind of nice for water draining. I hadn't thought about integrity issues.

I Like It!!!

Not a "Super Brace" but basically the same thing, right? Can this one be done with the "weep holes" like in an earlier post?
-
Bummer! That was good food, especially the brunswick stew. Oh well, the place is gone but the knowledge lives on. Hopefully they'll rebuild.

Hey Ken, Thanks for paying for mine! You're a real pal! Seriously Jack, Put me down for one, but make it anodized instead of naked, like we talked. If I decide to polish it later, I'll deal with it; nothing else polished on the front of the scoot except the mirrors. And I wouldn't have known about this group buy without the spam either!
-
We're pulling for you Kurt! You can't get more people on your side than you can right here! Get better, fix the scoot and Ride!
