Hey, Thom, if you need a place to stay as you come thru' the Atl, let me know. I've got an extra room with a bed and a place in the garage for your ride, you're welcome to it. Just be forewarned, I crash by 9pm and I'm out the door for work at about 6am. I'll leave a light on for ya!

Great pics, mini, but that 8th picture sure looks like Jeff, hangin' at an HD dealer, smilin' and having a good time!

Looking GREAT mini! (The side car too! ) I can see a paint job matching the lines on the car with the '86 colors would look really schaweeet!

One of the stops that I make almost evey day for FedEx is at Siemens on Technology Drive in Alpharetta, Ga. I always check out the MC Parking just to see whats there and the other day there was a Blue early 1st gen parked there. I stopped and left a VR.o card. I didn't have one of my cards but I did have one of Sleeperhawk's, so I added my name and left that one. Hopefully they will, or have, join(ed)! If you see this post, let me know who you are and maybe we can get together for a ride someday!

I was in Winfield Kansas for an acoustic music festival last week. I work at the festival every year doing transportation. I end up driving between Arkansas City and Winfield a lot. I think that it was Saturday (but I'm not sure) when I saw a red 1st gen going south, either on Main St in Winfield or on 77 heading towards Ark City. Any body know who that might have been?

Looks like a great time! Gorgeous scenery! Glad you got to go with your mom. I've always wanted to do Alaska. My Great-Great-Great-(someplace-back-there)-Grandfather, Wm Henry Seward bought Alaska for the US from Russia. The killer is that a few years ago a friend offered me a free ride for me and my bike to Anchorage. I couldn't do it because I only had three days notice; I would need tires and had a $300 natural gas bill to pay or get shut off!

When a member says they "need help fast" around here it seems to work, but what took you so long Squidley , did you hit traffic on the way to the 'puter??? Hey I need help FAST,...............................I need 20 bucks! Well, I guess that didn't work! Hmmmmm

Hey, LA, it sounds like you're picking the right time to get the wife and yourself out of Tejas! What with Ike ready to march into the Gulf of Texas! Batten down the hatches, board up the barn to keep those bikes safe and have a great trip!!!

Sounds like a great ride, Bob! And congratulations on the weight loss!

Find yourself a 1st gen. That is what the 1800 GoldWing is trying to be! The Venture was the first bike designed from the ground up to be a sport touring bike! Like Skid says: The 800lb Crotch Rocket!

Mine had the red light and indicator on for a long time. I fixed the flashing red light with a piece of black tape for a while. After my crash, while I had access to the computer board, I pulled the board out to re-solder it. It actually had one corner broken off. It was hard to tell, on one trace, where it went. I've re-soldered it twice and had to create some jumpers for the crack, now I get the red light/headlight indicator any time the high beam is on. I'll live with that 'cause it ain't worth going back in just for that. Here is where the board comes from, http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/Venture%20Projects/100_1353.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/Venture%20Projects/100_1354.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/Venture%20Projects/100_1356.jpg This is a jumper across the crack on the back of the board. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/Venture%20Projects/100_1360.jpg It's hard to tell, (on the right side) but I scraped off the solder resist, laid a few strands of copper wire across the crack and soldered it. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/Venture%20Projects/100_1357.jpg I had to put another jumper on top. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/Venture%20Projects/100_1359.jpg (Before anyone cracks wise, No, I did not use Plastic Wood on this project!) But I did use Devcon Plastic Welder to hold the board together and it appears not to be conductive. Good luck with yours!

I knew that Swifty practiced his riding skills while the bike sat safely in his living room! Now we have proof! Man, I just wish I had video! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/48B5ECCA00031453000044B922165279-1.jpg What Style! Get that knee down!!! Go, Swifty, Go!!!

HAPPY A-Day, Y'ALL!! You two deserve each other!

He stayed up after I went to bed at 9:30 or so and was going to call you, Lewis, but he figured you went to bed early too since you go in to work early also! We rolled out this morning at about 6 and after some biscuits at a local place, I left him and went to work.(YUCK!) He was going to drink a little more coffee and head out.

I got a voicemail on my phone this afternoon, "Hey 86er, this is WildHair and I'm at a rest stop on I20 about 50 miles out of the Atl. Give me a call!" (Kinda!) So I called him back and said "C'mon down!" He showed up at about 7:30 and we drank some beer and told some lies. I told him that I go to bed at about 9 pm and get up at about 5:30 to leave for work a little after 6. He said he'll try to sleep that late!!! I'll send him off to the Muffinman (and eventually Lake Placid) in the morning!!

I can't decide whether one should sign the petition in this video or not. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi3erdgVVTw]YouTube - Penn And Teller Get Hippies To Sign Water Banning Petition[/ame] The sheep are out!

Hey, Dan, I think that's legal now, at least in San Fansissyco!!!

OK, Lewis and I went by Vogel on the way to Asheville and ended up at the Dragon, so I think that the 4th annual event happened. The amazing thing was that when we went to have our picture taken at the Deal's Gap sign, there was a man and a woman standing there. I said "I'll take y'all's picture if you'll take ours.......wait, we know you!" The couple standing there was the couple from Canada that we had met the day before on the Blue Ridge Pkwy! What are the odds?!?!?! They have just recently joined VR.O.

I had a great time as well!!! Coming in Friday night made it just too short! Didn't get a chance to talk to everyone I wanted to. Wanted to talk to Mother, but I didn't see you again after dinner, kept hoping you'd show up at the campground, and Bongobob....where were you man?!?!? I was looking forward to meeting you! I have to say that the N. Ga. Monthly Breakfast went extremely well, with Muffinman flipin' flapjacks (both Blueberry and plain!) and Blackjack cooking bacon, sausage and eggs Saturday morning! (Guess you didn't know we hijacked breakfast, did you, mini!!!) Dragonrider and I finished the trip off with a ride to the Dragon and so Vogel #4 did happen after all, and it was international, but I'll let him tell you about that! Like everyone else is saying....Great Job, Mini!!! (Oh, and you too, Jeff!)

I thought we were to pull over because of all the wolf whistles Sleeperhawk and Sledgehammer were making at the pretty girls in G-burg!!! I'm just glad we got out of there before the cops showed up in force!

Heads Up On Headlight Switch
86er replied to bongobobny's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
A lot of times on my '86, in really dark areas or twisties at night, I'll run with the switch in that position and I've never had a problem or had much of a drop in the voltage. Of course the volt meter on these bikes isn't the most trust worthy! I do like the extra light! -
Sent you my info in an email. I also pondered the idea of cross referencing the info with screen name 1st as well as real name. Heck, Randy, I just figured you needed a little more work to do! Thanks for hooking this up!
