Yeah, Lew, I talked to him yesterday afternnon. He wanted to meet up and give me those. The problem that arose is that my mom and dad are in town to celebrate dad's 90th, yeah I said 90th!, birthday! My brother is in also so I am really tied up right now and was in the middle of one of about 4 parties to happen for dad when Lowell called! We'll get together in the near future . If not, the 3rd Annual N. Ga. M&E&R&E&R&E is coming up at the end of March! (Everybody consider yourselves for warned!) Tell Lowell to keep the rubber side down!!!

The only "tearing up" of the roads that we do is haulin' a$$! Even with the 800+lbs of our bike and a couple hundred for the trailer, the road doesn't even know we're there! Actually we shouldn't be charged at all. But when I was on the tollway in Ks they charged me the same as a dually truck haulin' a cattle trailer! Which I didn't hesitate to point out to the toll taker, she didn't care. Ask muffinman about NY!

In case you are trying to figure out that cryptic remark, Jason, you can find the answer in this thread: The Official "I Dropped My Bike At Vogel" Thread Or the sequel: Dropped Bike = $5.00...........AGAIN! (or When I Stop Traffic, I STOP TRAFFIC!) And welcome to the club!

Sehr schön, dude! Ich bin eifersüchtig! Genießen Sie, mein Freund!

Sorry to hear that, Lew! You know I can relate and "feel" your pain. (OK, Y'all stay away from that line!!!) Hope it's nothing serious and you're back to work soon.

I crashed in Co. (helmet free state) at 110mph in 1982. I was wearing a helmet for the first time that week. I got a concussion and 100 stitches in my face. Might have been dead without it. I live in Georgia (helmet sate) and I wear mine all of the time here. If I'm in Fl. (helmet free) and run to the store...it's a ball cap. On a ride in the twisties, or on the highway....it's a helmet. But,......A helmet does not block your hearing or your vision enough to cause an accident. I have a 3/4 with speakers in it. I can hear what is going on around me even with the radio on. I know that I need to turn my head to see before I pull out into traffic, change lanes or make any move. If I'm driving my truck; FedEx or my 1950 GMC, I have to work within the limitations of that vehicle. It's the same with a bike and a helmet. I believe you should make the decision to wear or not wear a helmet based on your own preferences (and/or state laws). Not on whether you can see, or hear, or any other crutch. You can see and hear with any helmet if you look and listen. You have to ride within whatever limitations that you set for yourself.

Thanks Steve, I know you have the shop space..........NOW! But I still have to work out the key thing. I don't know if they can give out that info anymore, Dan. The Sheriff that checked it out said she couldn't give me that information. I'll check out that site, JB. I have to get the switch out first. Muffinman talked about break away bolts. I also figure that if I can get it out, I can take it to a local locksmith and have a key made for 20 bucks or less.

I'll be watching this thread since (a) my truck is my bad weather vehicle and doesn't have windshield wipers and (b) my bike has a standard plexi windshield! I have used RainX on the truck and it's OK but wears off fast. I tried another product from O'Reily's that is supposed to last for 6 months, even with washings and the verdict is out on it. The problem with the truck (a 1950 GMC) is that there is not a lot of windflow to the windshield under 50mph!

A few weeks ago, as I was leaving the building on my FedEx route, my manager stopped me and handed me a package. "Here" he said, "This is from the next route over, deliver it after you finish your route." I said "OK" and headed out on my way. After I finished my stuff, I took that package and delivered it to a company in an office building. As I went thru' the parking lot to turn around, I noticed a bike with with a cover on it. The cover was torn at the back and I could tell that it was a Mk1 1st gen. I did some talking to the driver on that route and people in the area and found out that it has been there for at least a year and a half. The tag expired in June 07. I got the name of the property owners and told them I would remove it if they wanted. They said that would be great because their regular towing co. didn't want to move it. I called the local sheriff's dept and they checked it out. They said that it wasn't stolen and since it was on private property, it could be removed. So, with an email in hand requesting me to remove it, I took a trailer and loaded it up! It is now safely stored in my garage! The storage charges are already adding up. Now I just need to figure all the correct steps to take to (a) find the owner and let them know the towing and storage charges or that I will accept the tittle and keys in lieu thereof or (b) to claim tittle if not redeemed in X amount of time. I like free motorcycles! It is maroon with 29,775 miles. Barely broken in if it still has second gear. These pictures are a little dark as it was in my garage. I should have taken pictures on site and with it on the trailer, but hindsight is 20/20! Heck, the tires are worth the price of admission! (OK, Let the 2nd genners start with the P-nut gallery observations!) http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/My%20Truck/Abandoned%20Venture/100_1615.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/My%20Truck/Abandoned%20Venture/100_1614.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/My%20Truck/Abandoned%20Venture/100_1613.jpg

Let me know how that works out for ya, Dan!

If you are going to be in downtown Denver, (or within 100 miles! Colo Springs is close enough!) you need to go to Las Delicias (sp?) If I remember correctly, it's on 16th just out of downtown, but I haven't been there in about 10-15 years. They buy all their spices in Mexico. (It ain't TexMex; nothing smothered in chile!) Try the Tacos Al Carbon with the Salsa Especial!!! And while you are in New Mexico, you always need to ask which is hotter, the red or the green chile? It will vary from place to place and from day to day.

Cold Climate?!?! Wass Dat?!?! It went down to 24 on my ride the other day and the Road Sofa didn't leak nuttin'!?! WOW! I want one o' dem wooden motors!!! -
I smoked from the time I was 11 til I was 52. A pack a day of camel non-filters or 2 packs a day of any light cigs.Tried to quit lots of times and 6 months was the best I could do. On 03-05-05 I went to a hypnotist and "got the cure". (I beat you by 3 years, Vickie, but we'll celebrate together!) For the first few weeks after the hypnosis I would bum cigs and try to inhale them, they just tasted bad and hurt my throat. That reaffirmed the cure. I can't inhale a cigarette, nor do I like the smell or taste anymore. I don't even think of myself as a smoker. I do still enjoy cigars, especially when I'm riding or drinking, but can't inhale them either. If asked, I say that I'm a non-smoker. It's almost hard for me to believe that I was a heavy smoker for so long!

I know what you mean, Brad! With the night time lows in the 20s and leaving for work at 6am, if it weren't for a quick trip to the grocery store yesterday afternoon, I wouldn't have had a ride on the bike for 6 whole friggin days!!!

While you are in there I would recomend relocating the TCI box. It sits on top of the coils and is subject to water and road grime. I put mine between the battery and the airbox but I have the smaller Odyssee battery and still had to cut the battery box. I noticed that AtlantaDragonSlayer has his taped on top of the airbox. In heavy rain or after a wash, I would often lose the number 3 cylinder. No problems since I moved it, and I've been in some serious rain!

The best cheap solution for a compressor is to go to Wally World or the Big K and get one of the cheap ones and then break off/remove the plastic case to reduce the size to MC Friendly! The "StopNGo" tire plugger is a great system. I plugged a tire with 200 miles on it and rode it for another 12 thousand miles! I'm not sure about the ironing board either?!? Why not just shower in your clothes and kill two birds with one stone? Saves on quarters too!
