  1. I live in East Texas and will say this....some of the towers out here don't seem to be able to handle the cards well (not sure what term to use). I can achieve much better speed on the card in Houston or even Huntsville than I can here in Crockett or surrounding areas.
  2. I would empty the home of all kids and animals. Turn the volume on the t.v. to high and sit in the middle of the room with a cassette recorder. If your real good you can make a brief intro to each song. If for some reason you find this method too complex. Buy the 8 track.
  3. Isn't that unseasonably warm? We have been unseasonably cold...for us anyway.
  4. mid 60's here tomorrow but I have to bring the son to San Antonio....but, I have been able to ride....just not as much as normal. Been cold here....real unusual. Enjoy, it should feel great!
  5. Hmm, Like I mentioned, my brothers was worse than mine as far as movement when turning...I did get his balanced. I almost ordered another Kumho but I want to see how he likes his and maybe ride his a little more. i was light on running it due to the new front tire...I need to give it a better run. Sometimes I get tempted to buy a rear Avon and be done....but then I feel bad for leaving my brother with the CT....alone! I'm just a good big bro!
  6. I aired the rear tire to 46 pounds today and the wobble is significantly less. Just a smidgeon left and that could be me? At least this seems to indicate the rear CT as the culprit. Headway!!!
  7. It's just the darned parking lots that ruin that idea...otherwise....I'm with you!! I pulled the tire to get it on a balancer and get a good look at whats' happening. I rode my brothers Venture with a new Kumho and it has no problems...It rode real well? His tire was mounted by a different shop and balanced. Mine seated at 100 pounds which makes me wonder about belts? I will try and see what his seated at tomorrow. Either way, I'll correct it...just sick of pulling tires. Since I got the lift I have become popular....My brother is leaving his bike with me now? He lives 100 miles away. He may take it back when i finish with the maintenance and tires////:thumbsup2:
  8. I couldn't see them changing it either....but, I thought I'd give it a try. Not sure why......
  9. I put my bike on the lift today and ran the bike in 1st and 2nd gear. My tire does have a wobble of sorts. What I am not sure about is if all tires have some wobble? The rotor stays perfectly straight (by eye). The tire is seated real evenly and there are no lumps or distortions I can see. I am thinking of trying Dyna beads and if I can't loose the wobble...going back to the MC tire? I am not happy with the wobble I get at 20 mph....
  10. I put a Kumho on my brothers Venture and I have the same wobble (one spot where the tread shifts slightly) when run in first gear on the lift. I am going to place mine on the lift and look at it when I get his down. Like I say, smooth as can be at all other speeds..?
  11. I think it's great you are trying this...I agree, a text book lawsuit protecting answer is most likely but you never know? Keep us posted.
  12. I actually rode "alone" and had the pressue at about 33 pounds. It did seem to be less noticeable. It's really not that bad unless I ride at 22 as in a stop light area or something... I am going to pull it to have it balanced...or order the dyna beads.
  13. I was running it at 40 for the first 1000 or so miles. I have since dropped to 36. I do most of my riding two up. I may try playing with it a little more. I really like everything about it except the shimmy....which may or may not be related? I did lift the front and even switched the spacers while there. I spun the tire with a stick firmly placed abutting the tire. It sure seemed the front was not out of round. Really more of an annoyance.
  14. Hmm, I just had it mounted. Total crap shoot on the spacers? Never gave it a thought. I am guessing it can be a problem?
  15. I have a situation that is confusing me. While I sit here waiting for the phone company i decided to pick your brains before i go down to look more closely. My 99 Venture was up on my lift. I did a series of maintenance issues and replaced the front and rear tires with a Kumho and Avon Cobra front. I had the steering head bearing replaced 200 miles ago. After the tire change I noticed what appears to be a side to side wobble at the front. It is most noticeable at the 22 mph range. It totally disappears at higher speeds all the way to 90 mph (speedo). I plan on checking the steering head bearing and looking at the tire more closely. It was balanced but the rear was not. I ride 2 up and the wife even noticed it. It also seems more prevalent at slow speeds and slow speed cornering (parking lot). It did appear at the same time as the tire change so that confuses me on the bearings? It is also the stock tire where I was riding on the slimmer tire (Venom) before. Suggestions welcome!
  16. I am also about 150 miles into the car tire (Kumho) I honestly notice no handling differences between it and my elite II I had on it before. To date....which has been limited, I will give it two thumbs up.
  17. And a video camera...with someone else filming from a distance!
  18. I saw a similar link on another forum that may explain the valve stem problem....scary. http://www.newsomelaw.com/resources/chinese-valve-stem-safety-probe
  19. Me thinks the wife has a point...lol:missingtooth:
  20. Thanks for the replies guys. Great info! I did search everywhere I could. I called the garage and they said they couldn't find it.....which doesn't surprise me. Lesson learned.
  21. According to my calculations it would be the washer. Part number 23 Would you agree? Just double checking...
  22. You wouldn't happen to have the number of what I need to order would you? I had to have my sone do the picture as I tend to be a bit lame on the internet:sick:
  23. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w182/copusrider/t-day022.jpg I do believe I may have found the problem. According to the schematics I have been looking at we may have lost a washer? $1.79 piece and it may hold me up for a week? I may try our auto parts store and see if I can get lucky?
  24. I have had the last several tire replaced by bike shops. I had to pick kids up at the airport today so did not get to recheck it. It is on tomorrows agenda. Thanks for the info....it has me thinking hard.
  25. Hmm, If I got anywhere near 100 foot pounds it would be locked like concrete.... It was simply near impossible to turn until I loosened the nut. No brake drag or any issues. I took it for a ride and it rode well. Can't see it coming off with the system in place but it was the first time I have never been able to tighten the nut solidly. This does not make for a comfortable feeling. I did print the articled Cougar wrote and all is back as listed. I will check once more after I get the front tire on. Thanks for the responses.....it was the day after a big Christmas party that required a Hotel booking so maybe....just maybe
