    The cover Ken has is the Yamaha ball milled one. I have a Diamond R cover I put on the bike before I won the bid on the Yamaha one on E Bay. That part has been discontinued for a very long time and is hard to find. If the choice was a $100+ cover or a stebel horn showing I would put the horn under the bike and keep the cover. Thats what I did.

    Ken I bought that bike knowing it would be my last one just didn't count on it being so soon. I won't post what you paid me for it, but will say if you only polish the chrome your taking care of your investment. Im glad you two got it, ride it with a smile. Jack-Diana

    Back in the day , a spin balancer was a motor that spun your wheel,tire, drum or rotor on the car. you mounted a cover with a shaft coming out of the center with three rings on it. As the motor spun the tire you held one of the rings to move weights inside the cover closer together or farther apart the third ring moved the weights around the cover at the same time. Dyna beads do the same thing, they balance tire, rim, brake rotors. My riding buddy can tell you what mileage he has got out of every tire on every bike since he started riding. He went to the local GWRRA reginal rally and met a couple riding an 1800 with no cupping on the front tire. He found out they were running the $250 dollar balance rings. He thought Dyna Beads were voodoo, now he is going to try them. He had less miles than the tires on the other bike and has had his balanced twice to reduce the cupping. This is his second set of dunlop e3s.

    do a search for "silks" they have been around for over 20 years and are made just for the problem your having.

    when you lube the drive pins pull your drive shaft and lube both ends

    Don't let your dealor tell you there is nothing they can do about the whine. My 99 had the chirp and was fixed by factory mech at my dealors shop. My 02 had the chirp.dry drive splines and final drive whine that got so bad I took it in and told them to keep it till it was fixed. They had bad final drives in the last batch of 1st gen ventures, had a buddy that went through that problem with yamaha in 87. The drive shaft splines that enter the final drive on my 02 had no lube from the factoy and the edges of the splines were worn sharp. Have them check bearings in final and your drive shaft, they may have to replace both. I ride with only my cb on 95% of the time now its very quiet. Good luck, and don't be afraid to call customer service, let them get to know you by first name.

    Don't fold roll your clothes. if you have old socks and underware don't repack throw them away.

    Pull your rear diff. off and check splines on the drive shaft. The outside of the splines should be flat not sharp. If they are sharp replace the shaft, moly lube, follow directions to make sure rear diff. is installed correctly. I had the whine like a nascar under yellow. Got to the point I took it to my dealer and told him to keep it till they fixed it. The lead mech. has been working on ventures since day one, got it back three days later, no noise of anykind since. I had the spline issue, the chirp,and drive shaft, I won't tell you it's as quiet as my wing was but I don't run the radio hardly at all. I would rather listen to the Khromewerk's pipes, and yes they were on when it whined.
