My last 2 bikes were black. That was the one requirement I had. My next one would be anything but black. This thing is smoother than the RSTD. Karen even said so. It does shake like crazy at the lights. We try to avoid riding where there are red lights It rides real nice, but it doesn't have a cassette player

I thought I'd show you guys my new ride. It's not a Yamaha, but it's still a bike and it's still fun to ride. Okay I should have sucked my gut in a little...

I got 12,000 out of my rear. Still running the front.

Ok, you had told us before what a smooth talker he was. I thought maybe he sold you on another fairy tale. -

So you still haven't received anything from him, except a promise? Just wondering... -
I've never ridden one, but I still love 'em. If I could have found a low mileage interstate, before I found the Ultra I would probably be riding one. I don't know why they quit making them. Congrats on the new ride!

When I "pick" something, it's usually picked for $80. Price to repair $200. Value after repairs $175. You can do the math.

I can tell that my front tire is a little out of round, but only when pulling up to a stop moving very slow. It doesn't bother me, so I never jacked it up to check it. It's a Dunlop E-3 also.

Reckless Fairings

I checked with them a year ago, and they didn't make one for the TD at the time. -

problems removing lower cowling

My '05 RSTD must be different. It is an allen bolt and screws into a rubber "wellnut". If it doesn't unscrew then the wellnut must be turning. You might try pulling out a little on it while you turn it. Just enough to cause some friction between the wellnut and the fairing.- 6 replies

I bought a motorcycle the other day. I had the money in my savings, so I transfered the money to checking while standing in the guy's driveway, and wrote him a check. I know I could have waited until I got home, but it's nice to be able to look right then and verify how much is in your account, no matter where you are.

I did a test ride a couple of months ago and came to basically the same conclusions you did. The things that impressed me about it were the smooth ride and the brakes, and the low speed handling. I ended up buying an Ultra Classic, just because I wanted a bike with a trunk and the radio fairing and I found one close by. After you get used to how to ride it, it's really pretty strong. You don't have to keep it revved up like the V-4 and you can pretty much shift into 2nd as soon as you start rolling, but when you hit 2nd and roll on the throttle it comes on strong. I still wish it was water cooled, and hate the way the Harley riders at work are all of a sudden buddies with me, but otherwise I like it.

Follow-up to motorcyclist killed in Indy in police crash
eazyduzzit replied to Mel's topic in Watering Hole
The cop was totally in the wrong. He should know the law and the consequences of impaired driving better than someone not in law enforcement. This makes it obvious that he just didn't care. His department is in the wrong for not taking action prior to this happening. With his record, it should have been apparent that he is a problem behind the wheel. They are also slow about prosecuting him, which is an insult to the public they're paid to protect. -
I've got a pair of RSTD bars, and I live in TN.. How far are you from Knoxville?

My daughter used to do everything with me. She'd look at me like I was her hero, now she looks at me like I'm a senile old fart, and I'm just 53.

The number is... 53

I think they should have left the Led Zeppelin song all Led, but it was a good video.

I have been looking at touring bikes for a month or so. This is a very good price for an '08. The cheapest I have seen an '08 priced in all that time is 10,000. You have to remember this thing still has 3 years left on the warranty. A dressed bike to most people is fairing/radio and saddlebags. Other niceties like cruise, and intercom are only found on the highest end bikes, so I don't think "fully dressed" is over stating it on a Venture. IMHO

Another woodworker here. I like that style of furniture, very practical and nice dimensions. Is it your design?

I don't pay it much thought. I wave at everybody, Harleys, scooters, wings and even bicycles. If they want to wave that's cool. If they don't want to wave that's fine too. I don't pay much attention to who does or doesn't.

I do a little welding and I would recommend that you go with 220. What little experience I've had with 110 welders wasn't very good. You can get a used 220 stick welder for little money and do a lot with it.
