I've never broken my collar bone. I did dive for a football and land on this shoulder once and had some shoulder pain for a while, but not in the same part of the shoulder. The pain stays in the right shoulder, and radiates up the right side of my neck. The only time I've had a pain in this same spot was years ago when I was in good shape, I would walk on my hands, and sometimes if I had been doing it for a while I would get this same sharp pain in the same spot. At the time I didn't think anything about it because I was supporting the the weight of my whole body in an unnatural position, and as soon as I'd quit the pain would quit.

It's funny you'd say that... I was riding home tonight doing exactly that (except with eyes open) I let go of the bars and I sat up straight with my hands where they are comfortable, and I think you're right. The bars need to come back a couple inches. We've tried this too before it got cold. It worked great, but it's not the same through a leather jacket. I already spent $300 on a backrest. I love it, but I still get that shoulder/neck pain. I'm rubbing it right now as I type mith my right finger.

I've been getting a sharp pain in my shoulder after I ride for a couple of hours. It starts out feeling like someone is stabbing me with an ice pick in the area marked with an X 0n the silhouette below. I just started riding again after 25 years without a bike. I really thought I would work through it after a while, but it just seems to be getting worse. My wife and I were on the bike for 6 hours yesterday and the pain was unbearable. I've tried adjusting the bars up and down and it hasn't helped. After a while it spreads up into my neck and makes it hard to turn my head to my right. I've read posts where others have had a similar problem. I'm curious if anyone has had success in fixing the problem. I'm willing to try about anything.

It looks sorta like a Harley loaded up on that trailer...

Polish with what? I have tried car wax on my windshield, but it seems to make it worse in the fog.

My wife and I got caught in the rain once on the interstate and we got wet before I could stop, but that didn't bother me as much as not being able to see. I have an '05 RSTD with a tall windshield, and I wear prescription glasses without a face shield. The combination of water drops on the WS and my glasses made it feel dangerous. We are planning a trip this coming week and it looks like we may run into some rain. Any of you have any pointers for me to improve visibility?

That's a good looking bike. Looks like new...

That looks like a great trip. Did you do it alone, or with a passenger?
-
No it's not. I went to the closest dealer to me and it took him about 5 minutes. He told me to bring my bill of sale (or title) and my driver's license. It was surprisingly easy.

Now I see why sentences and paragraphs were invented.

Am I the only one that the link doesn't work for?

We should have made better plans. I was at the Dragon Sunday, and I missed RedRider who rode down. There were 2 other Royal Star riders and our wives. We would have loved meeting some of you guys.

I've been wearing some thinsulate mittens when it's around 32 degrees, and they're warm, but it worries be because they're so thick I'm afraid if someone pulls out in front of me, I can't get the brake lever quick enough. I'm going to get some 12V gloves very soon.

Let me ask a similar question. I have absolutely no experience with motorcycle communications. What would I need on a RSTD to be able to talk to my wife and maybe listen to music. I have nothing now, and I'm very ignorant when it comes to electronics.

As I understand it, there's a member here who will rebuild a seat by hollowing out the foam and inserting a more comfortable material. Have him hollow yours out and leave it hollow.

Wow, very nice. I'm impressed.

I don't have one of those in my car.... That must be one of those luxury models... -
If everything works out like we planned, My wife and I will be going into Maggie Valley by way of 129 tomorrow with a couple of friends and their wives. Our plans are a little shaky right now, but maybe we'll see you. We all 3 will be riding black RSTDs. The weather is supposed to be nice. High in the 50s in the mountains.

RSTD oil level?
eazyduzzit replied to eazyduzzit's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
That makes sense. I was just wondering why it was reading higher now than right after it was changed. Thanks guys. -
I did my first oil change this week (2005 RSTD). I filled it to middle of the sight glass, started it to make sure the oil filter was full and checked it again. I had to pour a little more in to get it back to the middle. The thing I have a question about is after I rode to work and back the next day, I looked at it again and it's all the way to the top of the sight glass. Is this normal? Should I drain some out?

Thanks for the great report. I'm kinda new to riding again, and haven't made any long trips yet, but I hope to soon. I hope when I do get to that it goes as well yours.

It wasn't right after the Tennessee-Georgia football game was it? -
Yep, that's it.

When I took my safety rider course my wife went with me and rode the course with me through all of the obstacles. A couple of the guys couldn't believe it, they were grinning and high fiving us every time we completed a portion of it. One of the guys told us we were his heroes. I told him we nearly always ride together so it was only natural we would do the course together. It made us both feel good to do it together.

I just started riding again after taking a 25 year break. The coldest I’ve ridden so far was 38 degrees and that was this past Monday. I plan on riding at least another month, but I’m going to have to buy some cold weather gear and maybe a full face helmet. I tell you those lower fairings are great though on the RSTD. My feet haven’t gotten cold yet.
