  1. Oh well, it's not as bad as I thought. While Karen was packing I went down and took it apart. The pads are thin, but not bad enough that I can't make it home. I'll just take it easy on the back brakes.
  2. I'm on the road and my rear brakes are making a noise. Anyone out there know where I can find brake pads in this area? I did a google search, but I didn't have any luck. We are leaving the room in a few minutes, but I'll check back on here when I can. We will be staying in Christiansburg tonight. I don't really want to tear it down until I can find a set. Thanks
  3. I was going North today on the Blue Ridge Pkwy and spotted a Southbound purple Venture around 3:45. I'm not positive about the color as it was quick and shady. I'm just wondering if it was a member. I also met a nice guy on the BRP on a Goldwing. We asked him to take a picture of us next to my bike, and he said "Hey, it's my old bike." He had traded in one identical to mine on the wing. He was very happy with the Wing and about had me talked into trading for one.
  4. Yeah, we probably averaged about 40 too. We were 2-up and had about 50 lbs of gear. We're getting about 42 on the interstate.
  5. My wholesome honey and I just got off the Blue Ridge Pkwy to get some gas. I checked my mileage after running about 135 miles and it was 49 mpg.
  6. I would check out the cabins in Townsend. It's a cool little place at the foot of the Smokies. I stay there sometimes just for a little getaway, and I live just 30 miles away.
  7. Karen and I rode through KY a few weeks ago and 90 percent of the riders we saw were without helmets. We always wear ours, and were surprised to see so many on the interstate without them.
  8. I use Rotella 15W40 and have no whine to speak of.
  9. Yeah, You're more patient than I would be.
  10. The first RSTD I test rode sounded like George Jetson's flying car (according to my wife who went on all test rides with me). It was the reason I didn't buy it. It was perfect in all other respects. The one I ended up buying had no whine at all on the test ride, but every now and then I hear it a little if I'm wearing a half helmet. I was told by the dealership owner, where the first one was that they all had the whine. I liked everything else about the bike, so I kept looking.
  11. I know Hoppe makes one for our bikes, but I don't know if it fits the quick release brackets or not.
  12. Marcarl Something I did that helped on a long trip. I used a beaded seat cover and wore a pair of bike shorts under my jeans. I don't know why, but I had no but pain at all and it was a 650 mile trip.
  13. Those are nice!
  14. I changed to Flanders and it helped. I still have that sharp pain in my shoulder sometimes. I also got a prescription for a muscle relaxer that seems to help when I need it.
  15. Exactly Cmike! Every move he made was just what I would have or could have made in the same situation. That's what worries me. If it's shoot first ask questions later, then we're all in trouble.
  16. I averaged 43 MPG yesterday on the interstate 2-up running between 75 and 90 trying to stay around 80 mph. I wasn't trying I know it's not scientific just using 1 tank to determine MPG, but I always get pretty good mileage on the interstate.
  17. I'm guilty! I don't spend a lot of time talking about cagers though, seeing as how my wife, daughter and old gray haired mammy are cagers. Heck I've even driven one on occasion.
  18. I don't know. He was careful to only pour a couple of ounces of oil into the bowl, then he he mashed the grass down with a strainer "to simulate waves". I would think if you wanted to simulate waves you would just slosh the bowl back and forth. O course it probably works better with the strainer stirring it, so that's why he does it this way for the video. Why not use a sham-wow? I'm sure it's going to soak up some of the oil, and they are already using similar materials to do it, so I don't think these guys are introducing anything new.
  19. It would be awfully hard to take a nap on a creeper, working on a truck that high up. Jim (who works at a KW dealership)
  20. Mountainhorse, you did a great job with the fairing. I like what you and bobbyduck both ended up with. I am dying to get a radio that actually works on my bike. It looks like I may have to shell out some money.
  21. Texting, shuffling papers, or painting toenails. It doesn't really matter. Whatever it was, they weren't looking where they were going.
  22. It was an easy fix. I had taken the fuel tank off a few days before to run an intercom wire, so that's the first place I looked. Apparently I had inadvertently disturbed a connector and it was just barely together. I couldn't tell it was loose until I pulled on each connector. When I pulled on this one it fell apart. I plugged it back in and everything works.
  23. On my way to work, I noticed my dash lights weren't workin then I pulled over & saw my head light & Signal lts weren't working. I got to work and when I turned the bars to the left it all came back on. Is there a connection I should look at to find the problem?
  24. A lot of my favorites have already been listed. I tried to think of an all time favorite, but there isn't one so I'll just try to name a couple I don't already see listed. "Smooth" Santana/Rob Thomas. "Give me one reason" Tracy Chapman. "Walk this way" Aerosmith
  25. I'll bet not one of those bikes has a cassette player!
