I like some others here put a block of rubber under the exsisting rubber supports. You can buy these Coil Spring boosters from most any auto parts supply and some walmarts. These are made of a thick rubber. Great for shaping to fit under your exsisting supports

WE usually go into Maryville and stay around the airport...usually a lot cheaper and not as crowded as some of the hot spots to stay in the area. There is a Family Inn...that is clean and has some good prices... It is an older hotel but folks are nice and it is clean.

Mine was a paste not a grease. You can also get it from Grainger...Loctite brand...it contains 65% moly. The honda stuff is 60% Or you can search for it on line Loctite Moly paste.

I am well pleased with my E3's. I think you may be a little over Max inflation pressure on the E3. I got over 11700 now on my E3's and run 36 front and 40 rear. 11/32 new tread depth and the rear is still in there with little over 4/32 left.

Got my "I" basket installed took the "F" basket out. All looked good inside except for a few things I found. 1. the locking tab was not bent against the nut that holds the clutch hub. ???? But the nut was tight 2. the friction plates were lined up but not inline with the 3 dot as described in the manual and the tech article here. They were lined up where there is one dot. All the friction plates were measured with a caliper and little or no wear was found. no glazing found. Rotating plates all had perforations in them...I am used to seeing smooth rotating plates. No heat discolor and no warping. All of them were not polished smooth. No wear on the old basket or the clutch hub. Ran to today about 270 miles. I am pleased. No clutch churp...the bike does not sound like a Jenson mobile anymore. It does not seem that it moved it to another RPM, or I have not found that RPM yet. There is still gear noise...from mostly the left side but not that high pitch churp It is not quite machine, I do not expect it will ever be. I am glad I changed the basket. It is a lot better. Don't expect the "I" basket to totally get rid of all machine noise cause I don't think it will. On some bikes it will help.

First let me say...I am a tried a true Amsoil fan. I have used that oil in racing bikes and seen some amazing things happen and the engines were fine and I believe it was because of the Amsoil. Also just about every test even MotoKote test says Amsoil protects against wear better. I use it in my VW diesel and all my bikes... But...I have noticed, I seem to have less gear noise with Mobile 1 20-50... another thing I notice when I first change the oil...seems the noise is louder and after a thousand miles or so it gets a little quieter with any oil. This may be my imagination. I have noticed that each time I change the oil. Why I cannot explain and it does not make any sense.

That one does look great. Be sure and let us know if they do make some extra to sell. In the mean time...all you guys with the OEM POS send them to me.

Personally I like this one better... "Out of every one hundred men, ten shouldn't even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back." — Heraclitus This was a quote made about 500 BC. To me...it fits like a glove to any organization I have ever been involved with...from military to all the jobs I have had including the one I have today...to any clubs, or groups of people I am around. Anytime you get a group together...this fits. Which one are you?

FYI if anyone needs one. Tusk clutch tool $15.99 at Jake Wilson and RockymountainATV.com $7 shipping if that is all you buy...free shipping for $99 order. I just looked and they are still have the E3's rear for $125.99. I put my I basket in a couple of days ago but due to the rain I have not got it out to ride yet. Maybe Saturday. I did notice something while I was in there. The friction plates were not lined up like the instructions say...with the 3 dots. Also rotating disc had perforations on all of them. All I ever dealt with were slick smooth. Everything looked good...no glazing of the friction plates and I check all of them with the caliper and show little or no wear. Rotating disc not discolored...all good. I just wish I had a heavy spring to keep it all tight in there. 16700 miles so far..

You are a very patient man. I am sorry I would have blown a gasket by now and arrived at the location to pick up my parts and my money back by now....probably with a baseball bat. Several years ago, I was looking for an enclosed cargo trailer to haul some racing bikes. I shopped all the dealers locally and found the prices crazy, plus I could not find what I wanted. I searched the internet and found exactly what I wanted at a dealer in Georgia (they build a lot of trailers there) I called them and told them what I wanted, they said they had exactly what I was looking for in the color I wanted. I told them I was coming after it the next day. They said I would have to put a deposit down to hold it. They took my credit card number for the $500 deposit. I took off over there and made the trip (over 400 miles) to pick it up with cash in hand. I got to the dealers yard and they did not have a trailer even similar to what I was looking for or the color I was looking for. Needless to say I was pretty pissed and they knew it and told me I could drive another 200 miles down to the factory and pick up one 4 foot shorter and kinda like I wanted. What? Oh no...was steaming now...so I asked for my deposit back and they said they could not give it back to me, I would have to wait till they got a trailer that fit my specs or forfeit the deposit. WHAT? If I would have had a shot gun with me I would have shot the ceiling out of that building. I went ballistic after I had drive over 400 miles to get there and now they are not gonna give my deposit back. It is a wonder I did not get arrested cause I did some things that folks get arrested for...and they are lucky I did not carry a weapon at the time. They finally credited my credit card for the deposit. When I got back home I went on a email writing vengeance and sent emails describing what happened to me...to the manufacturer of each trailer brand they sold...every website that had a link to their trailer website, and Better Business Bureau. BBB which they are a member is a joke. They seemed like they worked for this awful dealer. I sent them to the manufacture of any parts they sold also. About 2 months later...the owner mailed me a check and a letter offered me $500 to stop sending the emails, cause it was hurting his business. He was hoping to cover my time and cost associated with the trip over and back. I cashed the check and stopped the emails but if I hear anybody looking for a cargo trailer I still tell them to stay away from these folks. So the moral of the story...there is more than one way to skin a cat it just takes some time.

I got over 11000 miles on an set of E3's...lots of straight line roads over here. Mine also is noisy in the curves but not as bad at the orginal 404 that came on it. I have 5/32 left on my rear tire. I run 40 PSI (max pressure on the side wall) in the rear and check it evertime before I ride.

Well...I am not gonna say the E3 will not hydro in the rain, but I got caught last year in what seemed like a typhoon for about 4 hours on the interstate and was really impressed with the performance of the E3's at 65-70 MPH speeds. Seems those angled ribs channel the water out better than the straight groove tires. I was doubtful of the sport bike design also. I don't think I will ever go back to a 404 even though it has more thread design that the Avons or E3's. My wife claims we were soaked rats but really only our faces and hands got wet, cause it rained really hard and those 18 wheelers were really hosing us down as they came buy.

I understand. They have some marks on their record...what about that refinery that blew up in Texas a few years ago? I was refering to the regulations are in place which is what one of the members here was refering to in the above post and they are supposed to be tested regualarly. OR you face stiff fines and the MMS will shut you down and possibly put the managers in JAIL. I cannot imagine them not testing the equipment as required and risk the possiblity of being shut down as much as it cost to keep the rig on site or even worst...an event like this happening. I suspect somebody is going to jail over this in the end. I believe they had a equipment malfunction. Time will tell after they get it all sorted out I am sure...all the other companies want to know what happend and why..so we can make sure this does not happening again. I think this will ruin BP, their image with the MMS and the world...not counting finically. I work some contactors that work off and on for all the majors. They tell me BP has so many process and paperwork you have to do before you start a job...it actually takes longer to do the paperwork and get the approvals than it takes to do the job most of the time. I believe that...cause we have a lot of that stuff also...I honestly wonder if my company even cares about efficency anymore. They do not care of you get the job done...just do the paper work and have a meeting and get approvals. That is not a bad thing, I guess but makes me wonder how we did it 15 years ago and we are still alive and did not spill oil everywhere... I am surprized by what I hearing from the press and the 60 minutes interview. I am not sure I believe most of that.

You know this is really quite amazing...someone ask a question...and maybe it is not too clear what the question really is...but folks are racking thier brains to figure out what they can do to answer it. Not just one...but several are trying to figure it out to help this person. That is why I hang around here.

I enjoy my Utopia and my desicion was the same as yours.

The answer to that question is typically kept private to that company. You don't go around telling how much money you have in the bank. You may hear an rough estimate of the reserve there since it is involved with all this. Corporate espionge is very real. They guard the real information closely. During Katrina...we had 8 Blackwater Guys guarding the office building during the storm and after it till we could re-man the facility...to prevent corp espionage. Tyically deep water wells such as this have multiple producable zones and can do upwards of 25 to 50 thousound barrels a day (barrel of oil is 42 US gallons)...but keep in mind all oil wells decrease as soon as you start producing it. It may start at 50K then in a month go to 40 K, in 2 years go to 5 or 10K...5 years go to 1-2K. Some may go down to nothing in a year and start making just water. One thing for sure...if they spent the money to drill a well in that deeper water and with the cost of drilling today, there was something there worth going after. All drilling is a Risk. You can bet it is a big reserve there or companies would not take the risk of couple of billion dollars to punch a hole there. It is all about RISK management. Nothing garantees it will produce what they hope. With what has happend to this well...there now may be some serious formation damage and may not be albe to produce it all without some serious work and maybe multiple drills.

Yep it is hard to believe...they are trying all kinds of stuff to stop it...and hopefully they will eventually get it stopped. Better sooner than later. You know at 5000 foot under the ocean...it is almost like working on the moon. Very difficult to do anything down that deep. Not making excuses...just the facts. We all hope and pray they find a resolution soon.

Not trying to bash anyone...I have the upmost respect for the guys in blue current and retired... These guys put thier lives on the line and go in places most of us stay away from. I appreciate that. I hope this thread does not get into a mud slinging match like the other. I am not wanting to disrespect anyone here. My question to the LEO's here... If we are ever stoppped on a bike...should we automatically reach for the sky to prevent this from happening to us? I feel all of us that do not carry a deadly weapon for a living are deeply concerned about this...that is why I believe this thread came back alive and is continuing. Frankly this scares me to death, I usually drop my guard down a notch or two when around an LEO but now I am rethinking this. IF I am stopped...I am usually careful not to be digging in my pockets or around inside the car and turn on all the inside lights of the vehicle so the LEO can see all inside the vehicle. But on a bike...I am probably gonna sit there just like this guy did. I honestly do not see lethal threat that warranted the shooting...especially if I was "at ready" with my weapon already drawn. The LEO already had the advantage, he had his weapon drawn, he is behind the guy, he has a lot better view of him and should be in control of the situation. If the weapon is drawn at the moment the hand comes out of the pocket with something unfriendly...I think the LEO would have the advantage especially with patrol unit as cover. He should be able to peal the guys head from that distance if he could half way shoot. I am not an LEO but in some training...we had to make split second determinations in the dark with hidden paper targets holding items like cameras (shiny), wallets with shiny medalians on them, glasses (shiny) or with weapons. All from "at ready" and holding a flashlight. We could not look and anlyze the situation, we had to roll. This was very stressful. I could imagine it would be 50 times more stressfull these were real people that could shoot back. Add the fear and adrenalin...I could see where one could make a mistake very quickly. I will never in real life go into a building after somebody if I even think there may be a chance they have a firearm. Training of the LEO in this case I think would have made a lot a difference in this instance. I know budgets are short now days and they may not get as much as they need. That is usually the first thing that goes from a budget. If a kid runs across the street in front of you while driving...you automatically jump on the brakes without thinking. Good solid training will do the same thing for the for anyone. MAke it instinct. I know there are a lot of unknowns to what happend in this case and know what the jury decided. What happend could have been a lot more than we will ever know...but it looks like this LEO made a mistake. We are all human...we make mistakes. This one was a very bad mistake for all involved and I hate it happend. I carry weapon and got in pulled over about a year ago by an Deputy Sheriff on I-10 one night about 8 PM in a cage. The deputy asked me to step out of the car over his PA. That was very strange, usually they want you to sit still, so I got out and walked to the back of the car and over to the grassy area. Truck traffic is terrible on I-10 and I wanted to get as far as I could from the traffic. When he approached, it was a younger guy about 30ish, I had both hands on my chest and handed him my license and permit. He jumped about a foot high when he realized I was carrying and thanked me for letting him know. He asked to dis-arm me (it is a law and they have that right) and asked where it was... I told him and he lifted my shirt then removed the weapon. All the time I have my hands on my chest. He said he was gonna put it on the seat of the patrol unit while we had our talk. He gave me a 10 minute speech about following to close. I guess 50 yards for a Mississippi plated vehicle is to close down on I-10 in Lousianna. 35 years of driving that route I should have known this by now I guess... I did not argue, just listened. I have been stopped for a lot less and a lot more in all those years. All my stuff checked out...and he told me to walk with him back to the patrol unit to retrieve my "GUN". (I do not carry a "GUN"). I asked if I could go on the passenger side to avoid the traffic. He said sure and unlocked the passenger door. I opened it to find him holding my weapon by the barrel, handing it to me butt first and the barrel was pointed directly at his chest. This is a 1911 cocked and locked with 230 grain hydroshock ammo in it...one in the barrel ready to shake & bake with a 3 lb custom trigger. I got weak in the knees. It scared me slam to death. This guy had no idea about gun safety at all. I could see myself in jail for this guys death because of his carelessness for the rest of my life and the life of all my kids...how would I explain this? I grabbed it and quickly flipped it pointing to the rear of the car, checked the safety, magazine, and did a press check to make sure one was still in the barrel... stuffed it in the holster and ran to the car. 20 miles down the road the feeling came back in my legs. Not all LEO have a lack of training like I feel this one had, but there are some out there, that we need to beware of... Some folks have lots of training and take it seriously...some just get by, just like every occupation on earth.

Quit procrastinating. You are worrying about nothing. You can do it. Go get it done.
