I sure wish it came in florescent Green. I do not want to give up that visablity I feel I have with my green vest now. I may send them an email to see if they may start making one on Green.

They are a really good group of folks. They also have a sister site RockymountainATV that I have delt with for about 7 years buying motocross stuff. Great prices and fast service...then they brought the Jake Wilson site on line. At first they did not have much stuff...then they started adding more and more. Great place to shop for me. But you always need to shop around to check their prices or other sites that may be having a sale...

Do not leave it at home. You could regret it very much. I have a steel box in the trunk of my car mounted to the back seat with 1/2" bolts and nylon locking nuts. This box is not totally indestructible but I will delay the crook a while trying to get it open or tear it off its mount. It has a combination buttons on it with a emergency power points on the outside if the batteries go dead. It is also accessible with one of the round keys like they use to open a coke machine. It was not that expensive...about $85 and store your weapon in that box and don't think about it again till you get back. If it gets stolen in all that...then your insurance should pay for it cause they tore your car all up trying to get it. I try not go places that I cannot carry my gun except to work. I leave it in the car locked up...that is a condition of employment. I am fully armed when I leave work. I know some folks are amazed at some of us that carry guns all the time...I am amazed at folks with their heads in the sand thinking "it will never happen to me" By the way...if the shooting starts in some McDonalds or a gas station, do not expect me to save you...my weapon saves only me and my loved ones...the rest of you are on your own.

ME TOO... I have the 10" and it is a little bit smaller.. It is great on bike trips and just about everywhere else. They going for $239 at best buy right now. You need to by a external DVD/CD RW (to load your major software) and a mouse. It has 3 USB ports and a SD card slot, external monitor port, Rj45 port and a couple of audio jacks. Jumps on the wirless networks of the hotels really well. I am very pleased with it. IT runs good and I got mine with XP...did not want the Vista. I bought mine before Windows 7 was out. I am gonna upgrade it when I get time and think about it. I have Office pro 2007 and use it map out routes on the back road for the Zumo 660. Battery holds up good...never timed it but not sure it will go 8 hours especially runing wireless radio. I would purchase it again.

Cool...but headlight at $285...dang. passing lamps at $120 each....I think I will wait till they come down some. No cash to :mo money:right now.

I got Geico and they were cheaper here than progressive for the same coverage. Who ever you decide on using...tell them you have an antitheft device on the bike...the stock lock on the steering qualifies acording to Geico.

you sit tight...and be a good boy. They are not finished with you..

Don't you act a fool on one of them big ole motorcycles.

15 amp fuse located under the left side cover, inside a black box...should be labeled inside the box as to which fuse it is...15 amp is blue. Mine did that a couple of times...both while on a trip. IT would blow the fuse and I would replace it, never would happen again for months. I was determined I was gonna find it and I replaced the wire in the pipes for the passing lamps (although I did not really find nothing that could have been the problems. I found I had a pinched wire behind the license plate. I repaired this and have not had any trouble since. This can be tricky to find if...it is a intermitten problem such as mine. -
Take a look at this...small and effective It is trauma kit for motorcycle injuries... Got a lot a good stuff you made need in a major accident..not just bandaids and antiseptic. Injuries such as road rash, minor impalement, penetrating chest injuries, and major bleeding. MilSpec stuff that is battle tested... Kinda pricey but what is your life worth? http://www.onesourcetactical.com/cav-armsibtkindividualbikerstraumakit.aspx

Ok folks...Lets keep the bidding going. I deeply regret, I am not going to be able to make the ride this year due to I am scheduled to work on this day. I just want to support all I can. SO lets bid some more..

Never Never ride Deals gap on the weekend and certianlly not on a holiday. Always during the week. Way to many crotch rockets acting crazy.
-
I am at work also...Glad to have a job in these times. So many have been struck down by this economy and I do not think the policies of the government is in favor of getting these folks back to work. We can just hope for some big changes November.
-
You need to get down there and ride it...really really fun. We hit it at least once a year and it is 430 miles from my house.
-
Bump back to the top to keep reminding folks to BID.

I figure some here would help us understand why they apprear to work on some bikes but not to well for some on the RSV... Folks got me scared of them with thier reports. Bad batch of tires? BMW folks love them and talk a lot about the V speed rating. Now I usually do not run 149 MPH, and I suspect they don't either with a K1200LT, at least not very much. One has never passed the Black Betty on the interstate. The H 130 mph is plenty for me.
-
Wouldn't it be cool to pull out some of them horses just once in a while though? What if you needed to pass a crotch rocket, just because he is blocking your view...or smoke a VRod at a red light cause he is looking at your wife funny? I would probably get a ticket of two.

brake light issue
CMIKE replied to RoyalStarRider's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
There is a plug for the front brake is under the front fairing... There is a brake light relay also...not exactly sure where it is... may be in the lower fairing. It has a brown, green/white and a yellow wire to it...and maybe a black for a ground. You need to get an ohm meter to measure to see if the switches are good/bad. Looks like both these front and rear brake switches are normally closed, I think..., they each have 2 sets of contacts...one to accuate the brake light relay and one to cancel the cruise. Unplugging them will only turn on the brake light, best I can tell. Hope this helps. I think it was Dingy that built a simplified drawing of the 2nd gens...did a great job... Check this out.... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42357 -
Hey that really sound like a cool accessory. What brand it is?

I have been cruising the BMW forums and notice they swear by the Metzler 880 for the K1200LT touring bike. Oh yeah they complain about the same stuff we do...like top heavy, slow speed handling and a whole other set of problems I know there is several members here that has not had good luck with the Metzler 880 on the 2nd Gen Venture. Seems they have a tendency to chunk rubber off at some point. Some members here love them and would not use nothing else even when they hear of others problems. I am kinda scared of them since more than one of our members report the chunking problem. I always thought maybe it was the weight of the bike causing some of this problem...but the BMWK1200LT is not that much different from the Venture. Running weight of the BMW is 853lbs. RSV 869lbs Is it the horsepower...Venture about 98hp-BWM 116hp. Why is it the BWM folks never seem to have problems with this tire? Any ideas? Also my son's 2010 Raider (730lb bike) has a set of Metzler 880 on from the factory...and in the owners manual they strickly recommend nothing but this tire. 120/70-21 210/40-18 Metzler 880. By the way...that 113 ci Raider is one of the most uncomfortable bikes I have ever riden...feet and arms out front...back bent over, you would never touch a back rest if you installed one...you look like a C riding it. But it will get up and go...but I do not think there is a chance it will out run BLACK BETTY even if it is BLACK, the fastest color of them all. I tell you what...that new BMW K1600GTL sound like it is gonna be something to consider. 160 HP in line 6 cylinder with 129lb/ft torque...heck who knows...you might even be able to see the engine on it... Spy photo...of what is supposed to be it.. Yamaha better tighten thier A$$ up...I just hope it comes in BLACK when it hits the street. Looks like a FJR with a Big tour pack on it. Probably runs like or better than a FJR. http://www.cycleworld.com/var/ezflow_site/storage/images/motorcycle_news/future_bikes_spy_shots/10q3/bmw_k1600gt_and_gtl_-_future_bikes_spy_shots/3472375-1-eng-US/bmw_k1600gt_and_gtl_-_future_bikes_spy_shots_image_575_346.jpg http://www.cycleworld.com/motorcycle_news/future_bikes_spy_shots/10q3/bmw_k1600gt_and_gtl_-_future_bikes_spy_shots
