I drilled mine on my RSMV...I really did not notice any performance gains...little bit more sound. I used to have to make those harley's let me crank mine first so I could tell if it was running. At least now I can tell it is running next to a harley. -
I have never been able to deal with them folks in Hattisburg or that Gear place in Madison...ones in Merdian are just about as bad. Call Bubba Bardwell in Brookhaven. No shipping fees, no doc fees, no assembly fees. If he does not have what you want...he will get it real quick. Most of the time the price he gives you on the phone...I just about bet if you call every dealer in the state you will not be able to beat it. Before the economy went south...I would go there to pick up a new racing bike and buyt the time I signed the title and paid, he would have loaded up 4-5 bikes, 4 wheelers or Rhinos. I think the Ranger is a good small truck. I had some really bad trouble with a couple of GM's back in the 80's and never went back. Bite me once (rear end fell out then paint came off)...ok...bite me 2nd time with another truck (rear seal leaking that could not be stopped), then never again. I have had some really good luck with the Fords. Lots of miles with nothing but stuff that is supposed to wear out...tires, brakes, belts changed. I have had F150's, cars, Explorers and now own a F250 4 door diesel. If you plan on towing your bike, I think I would go with a bigger truck. Especially if you plan on a enclosed trailer...They just seem to have more drag when towing. You know they say...bring enough gun...well bring enough truck. I am not sure the smaller truck is really gonna give you that much better gas mileage. 15-26 The 09 F150 is supposed to get 14-21 and has a lot of improvements for 09. F150 is the 09 Mototrend Truck of the year if that means anything. That is my opinion....

Just in case of emergency.

AS I understand it your wife needs to straighten her legs out more than the floor boards allow. What about trying to mount something to the existing passenger floor board mount (passenger floorboard to frame)that extends foward then has a flip out dually peg ...this would solve all the lean angle issues. and I think you could make it look really good if you put your creative mind to it. I would probably clamp something underneath or use longer bolts to attach it with the bolts that attach the floor board to the bike, go out to avoid the side cover and exahaust then up where you need them to be. Maybe even drill into those mounts to attach something to them. Hell if it was painted black to extend to the position you wanted then attach a set of chrome foot pegs on it, I do not think it would look bad if you had a good paint job on it. I like others here do not like the decrease lean angle...if you have never scraped the ground in a turn...you will be surprized and with that sticking out the side... it could happen easy. Let me tell you the first time I heard part of my bike scrap the ground , there was a pucker factor I had to deal with cause I was not expecting it at all. I really did not think I was that low, nor was I trying to get down that low. Good concept you have there...I just think you may be causing some unintentional consiquenses. -
I am not so sure. I have a tire plug kit plus a compressor mainly to get the bike back on the road instead of waiting all day on road side assistance. If I was on a trip, I may complete that trip with the plug but I think I would be very nervous with it. I had a blow out or disintegration on a Honda 350 back in 1974 on a tire without a plug and I really have not forgot it. (don't think I ever will) It was not pretty. Big chunks of the seat got chewed up by my rear end. I would hate for that to happen again with my wife on the back. I know... tires are better...plugs are better now. I would really have to take it on case by case basis...where is the hole...how big is it (how much damage) and how far am I away from home. Now if somebody could install a boot or inside patch in the tire...maybe I would keep the tire. You only have 2 tires and I feel I need both of them. I may have to take out a loan for a new tire if I get something in it.

I agree with Squidley...The PIAA Xenon bulb probably the best choice but the cost is up there. I have never used one but I have heard about some logivity issues from some of the guys I ride with. Maybe it was a one off...you can get a bad one of any brand I guess... or maybe vibration from the bike itself that caused it. I have noticed those Harleys nervously shaking while waiting for the red light next to my Venture. I replaced my bulb with a Silverstar ULTRA. These are a little brighter than the regular Silverstar bulbs. It cost me about $24 but the Silverstar ULTRA's were kinda hard for me to find. They are in the Orange-Brown package. I could definitely tell the difference in how well I see at night compaired to the stock bulb. It also seems it gave me more side road coverage. I put a new set of Siverstars in my VW Jetta Diesel and what a difference that made for me...but it had the stock bulbs that had been there since 02.. Keep in mind all bulbs degrade a little as they age, especially these new high performance bulbs. This is mostly due to deposits collecting on the inside of the bulb. I would recomend you stay with the same wattage of the orginal bulb to keep from loading up your charging system.

Nope gotta pull off the lights to remove the front fairing. The Fairing has 2 pins that go in rubber bushings above the head light...the fairing must come forward about an inch to be removed. Some where on the site they make an adapter mount for the light bar so you can remove the fairing without removing the lights. It really is not that hard. If you have some allen wrenches with the ball end on them, it will be easier to get to the bolts holding the light bar. Carry it back to the dealer if you do not want to mess with it.

OK...Finally got a chance to get a short video of the new LED tail light and other LEDs installed from Custom Dynamics. Also added a strobe unit to strobe all LEDs on the back end. Movie is not that good but I think you will get the effect. I do not think they will throw you in jail...it is just illegal for the dealers to sale them. So they will just have to hold on to them till the government testing can be done so they will be certified LEAD Free. That ought to drive the nail in the coffin for the already struggling dealers.

ATVs and dirt bikes intended for children under 12 have been banned nationwide. The bike he’s hanging the tag onto is just above the size that’s been banned. If you’re interested in buying a dirt bike or all-terrain vehicle for a child, you’re out of luck.A new federal law bans the sale of off-road vehicles for kids under 12, part of a broader measure aimed at preventing lead poisoning in children. Retailers say the law is overly broad and children have a miniscule risk of lead exposure from engine components and other parts of the vehicles. “It’s absolutely ridiculous,” said Glenn Diedrich, owner of Cycle World at 5509 W. Park Ave., whose business sold the children’s models until the law took effect Feb. 10. “You’re not going to see a child biting the fender or licking the cylinder.” The federal Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, born amid outcries over children getting sick from lead components in toys imported from China, puts in place new strict standards for testing and safety in a wide range of toys used by children, including ATVs. For now, all models must be pulled until tests can be developed to detect lead, or until industry advocates succeed in getting models exempted from the law. That means retailers across the country, like Diedrich, are stuck with inventory sitting in their showrooms that they might not ever be able to sell. The law could cost the industry $1 billion for this year alone, according to an estimate from the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America and the Motorcycle Industry Council. Diedrich last week showed a reporter some of the models, which include dirt bikes that look like smaller versions of lighter motorcycles as well as four-wheeler ATVs. The law , he is certain, will have a major impact on his 42-year-old business. Typically, he sells just over 100 of the bikes per year for between $1,100 and $3,000, and they’re particularly hot around Christmas, he said. In January, the junior-sized models made up about 10 percent of his business. Since the law took effect, he’s had to turn away about half a dozen potential customers. He can change a tire or the oil on the devices but is prohibited from selling any parts or performing any other service on the bikes. Safety advocates call the new restrictions a double-edged sword. They could help discourage children’s use of the vehicles, said Sarah Anders, executive director of Louisiana Safe Kids, a coalition of public, private and voluntary organizations aimed at decreasing accidental injuries among children. But young ones may just climb onto adult vehicles and put themselves even more at risk, they say. “I believe all that’s going to do is (have) the children riding ill-sized units,” said Alicia Toups, chairwoman of the ATV committee of the regional Safe Community Task Force. “Make sure they’re on the correct size vehicle or not at all.” Diedrich, who regularly teaches ATV-safety programs, said his customers act responsibly and know how to operate them safely. He also makes sure children are matched to a correct device with power levels appropriate for their age. They should also use the appropriate safety gear and wear a helmet. “They understand how these units are used,” Diedrich said of his customers. I replaced the reflectors on the bars near the rear bags and the amber reflector up front with an exact replacement LED I found at JP cycles. I wired them up to the running lights. These units have 15 small LEDs in them and really look good. They come with double sided sticky tap and are an exact fit in that black plastic around the rear bars. The front...I had to take a peice of metal (aluminum) and counter sink a screw in to attached it where the orginal reflector was mounted...I used the sticky tape then to mount it to the aluminum. I also mounted a dual density 6" RED LED light bar under the sides of the trunk and connected it to the running lights and turn signals. I have not found a dual density LED that would exactly fit in the place of the reflectors yet. I know some folks have installed other lights in the place of the reflectors but not sure where they came from. I am going to do my wifes 05 RSMV next week also. See the photos. I hope this helps.

I use a XM ROADY ll. They do not make the ROADY ll anymore...I think they replaced it with the ROADY XT. I have a car kit which is a clip on mount for the air conditioner vent, 12 VDC to 6 VDC power supply that plugs into a cigarette lighter and a magnetic antenna. I added FM direct adapter to prevent fading in and out as you travel and the FM stations get stronger in certian areas and over run the internal FM transmitter. This FM direct adapter goes inline with your regualar FM antenna and works great. I ran all the wires out of site and I wired up a cigarette lighter female plug inside the dash so I will not have the wires running all over the place. I have these in my car...my truck. For my shop and office I have a home kit...this includes an A/C power supply and desktop antenna that will recieve through most walls...if they are not steel. Hook it up to the computer speakers or to an old radio via RCA jacks and 1/2 jack. For my bike I purchased a mount that clamps on the handle bars holds the radio and has a small flat spot for the magnetic antenna. I split the fairing and installed another female cigarette lighter to connect the power convertor to...and split the Aux 1/8 jack on the bike to bring in the audio. I ran all the excess wire down the handle bars inside the fairing to keep it neat. I pay one subscription for bike, truck, car, house, shop and office. Move the radio around and listen to it 24/7. it is always on. Move it from car to truck to office to shop. No problem. When they first come out with Sat Radio...I was hopeing they would do it like they did SAT TV...move your card from one place to the next...well we are stuck with the subscription tied to the radio... I was not paying for multiple subscriptions so I had to come up with a solution. They have a lot of stuff at this website that you can use...call them if you do not know what all you need... They have Sirius and XM stuff. Only thing that will limit you is your pocket book. http://www.myradiostore.com/

I think if you have 4 of them...you may could do it...object of the game is to sync #1 to #2 cyclinders then 3 to 4...then sync both sides together. I have noticed as you adjust one...the other goes down.

Where did you purchase the billet shifter...I hate that heal shifter...it is in the way. I have been thinking bout geting rid of that thing since I got the bike. I need one of those toe only shifters. -
I have used Yamaha Credit many times. I have purchased many dirt bikes over the years and would put them on the Yamaha card for a month or two then pay it off...liked to do that 6 months 0% thing. They lost the title to a YZ250 2 stroke once...pissed me off. I had to jump through hoops to get that all resolved. I guess one out of 12 is not too too bad but I swore I was never gonna use Yamaha credit again...but I did. I put my new 07 RSMV last Sept on the Yamaha card...I did the 24 month thing, I forget what interest rate was but it was pretty good. I was suppose to make a minimum payment of $139 and was gonna do that till I could scrap up enough to pay it off. One bill came in and the text was not real clear...I was not paying attention and it looked like minimum payment was $130... Sent them a check for what I thought was the minimum payment of $130. Next bill I got had a late fee of $38 with interest and the interest rate had jumped to 12.99%. I called them but they did not want to hear it...too bad for me. I sent them a check for the full balance...Heck with that. Now waiting to see if they lost my title. My fault but lessons learned for everybody.

I one had wheel borrow tire leak down through a leaking valve stem and it got pushed off the rim. I tired and tired to get the bead to seat so I could air it back up...I tried everything I could think of... Finally I tried this method but used starting fluid but lit it with a propane torch on a broom stick, the first time...it did not work OK maybe I did not put enough stuff in the tire. I tried it again but with more. I had to recover the tire 40 yards away in the middle of the yard after I looked around to see if anybody was watching me. I carried it to the tire shop. I would not try this again unless it was held down really well or mounted on a vehicle. Not sure I would try it on my bike, even in an emergency. So my advice is to maybe put this idea out of your mind completely for a bike tire.

Splitting the fairing...no problem http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=494 Well some of those questions are kinda hard question to answer... Best I remember the Yamaha instructions for the passing light install say connect them to the head light wiring hi beam or low beam through a switch to turn them off... Maybe that switch is mounted somewhere and it is off or went bad. Some folks throw the instructions in the trash like me...and I run a new fused circuit from a new aux fuse panel mounted under the seat and ran it to a relay controlled by a switch. I guess what I am saying here is there is many many ways to connect the lights to power... Some folks may or may not them on a seperate fuse. You will probably have to just look and see. Sorry I could not help you more... Let us know what you find...
