We don't care what you ride...bring them all. By the way Welcome to the group. :TEAL:

Earlier this year I pulled both front and rear 404's off with only 5400 miles...still a lot of life left in them to replace them both with the E lll's. The dealer said it would only take a about 30 minutes to get it done. I carried both wheels and new tires to him instead of the whole bike. I got the tires from SW moto. We went to the mall for about 3 hours...came back and they were still not finished. We waited another hour. They were very appoligetic and said they never have this much trouble getting a tire on the wheel. Said they were so thick they could barely get them on the wheels. He said he should charge me more since it took 4 guys in the shop to finally get them mounted and since he already quoted he would let me go with the orginal price. Next time he is gonna ask what kind of tire before he gives a price. I just hope I get very good service out of the E3's. I know they do wonders for the handling of the bike. Over 4000 miles so far and can't tell they have been down the road at all.

Strugis South Sturgis MS Aug 13-16 2009 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=2 We may have some thunderstorms in the area but I think we are gonna ride up there and check them out Sat and Sunday at least. They usually have a pretty good crowd and a lot of intertainment with some vendors and lots to eat. It is gonna be hot...heat index around 107, so I may be circling the area to stay cool. If you happen to go...Look for a couple of goons with flourscent yellow vest...that will most likely be me and my son. I will be riding the RSMV with LEDs probably with the better half on the back and the son will be riding a Midnight VSTAR custom.

Cruise control works in 4th or 5th at speeds between 30 MPH and 80 MPH as per the owners manual. 30 mph is doable but not good in 4th gear. Look at the oil in the site glass on the lower right side, smell the oil cap on the right side. Look for leaking rear shocks. Look at the tires and the brand...are they both the same brand...when was the last time the tires were replaced? Look for rust in the gas tank. Look at the crash bars on the front and rear...look at the corners...has it been dropped? All indicator lights work on the dash? All blinkers and brake lights work. Headlight should work all the time while the key is on. Radios work? AM. FM. CB?

I got the OEM yamaha rack. I have had no problems with it. Still looks good but my bike stays inside and rarely in the rain.

Good luck...and happy hunting. http://www.ronayers.com/catalogs/yahacc/parts.cfm?secid=11&type=295 http://www.ronayers.com/images/catalog/yahacc/11/295.jpg -
This work thing is really messing me up. Looks like again...I will be working for this event. I never get to go due to work. I would quit if my wife would get a better job to support us.

saddle bag lid bras

Yes just like that...but not that expensive...and with a bag beside them. -
I like the Garmin 660...I can see it fine in bright sunlight. Software came with it so I can map out my routes off the interstates onto those back roads or the senic routes. I like the fact it has blue tooth and syncs with my phone. I can have my phone in my pocket syncd up with the garmin. Look for Lodging...call them through the zumo 660 and ask about rates and room availbility. Phone still in my vest pocket. Then press go and it will lead me to the hotel. It was pricey but I am happy with it.

Stebel horn location???
CMIKE replied to LtShame's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You 1st gen guys never give up... I guess that is part of that makes this site so fun. -
A couple of guys I work with has a cell phone jammer...Illegal as heck but works wonderfully. I would love to put one of them on my bike...just to shut it down while they are around me. I was real surprized how well they work. They turned on one at work and the whole place was without service. Takes about 3 seconds to shut them all down. As far as you can see...cell phones stop working... They bought them from a china website somewhere...$2-300 each.

Basic engine performance upgrade recomendations
CMIKE replied to goodwrench1's topic in General Tech Talk
Well you said it was a Midnight Venture... I am kinda thinking maybe it has been repainted Black. Not a true Midnight Venture. The Midnight RSV's are always the fastest of all RSV's -

Sent him a email today about building me some water bottle/bags for the rear saddle bag gaurds like River Road makes for the Harleys. He said he could do it. He is a member here by the way. He has a Tour Deluxe Should be somthing like this... http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/13/124/3379/ITEM/River-Road-Saddlebag-Guard-Bags-With-Bottle-Holder.aspx I will get some photos when I get them installed. -
I ordered one of those brackets and it is perfect, he does a great job building it and it is a great idea but...I do not like the look of the bike with the lower wind deflectors that far away from the bike...looked funny to me. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1656&highlight=passing+light+spacer I have it if someone wants it. I will sell it to you at a discount..not trying to undercut Tony at all. Again He did a great job designing and building this item. PM me is you are interested. I replaced the bolts that hold the passing lights turn signals with something easier to deal with and left if in the orginal position. I do not split the fairing that much and when I do...I use a ball allen wrench and all is well plus I carry the stuff with me in case I have to split it on the road.

Ceritanly 20/50...you just got 2 V-Twins. I see no reason in the world that Synthetic 20/50 could cause any problems. Might even quiten it down a little. But then again it might not.

Well if Yamaha did not make any changes...I would not be surprized...at least harley has put the Ultra on a new frame last year and added a bigger back tire. I guess we really can't complain...no changes in over 10 years and still tie the Ultra for 1st in the road test. I love the RSMV but I wish Yamaha would wake up and modernize it just a little. (Remove Cassette player or sell cassettes at every dealer) You know they have to be trying to figure out why the sales of the RSV is not better then it is... I think slight improvements/modernize the bike would really help the sales.

Any blue wire will do it...that is your running lights. They come on when the key is on.

Man they look great. You did a great job I did this same mod to my bike a while back...this really adds the final touches to the bike.

All you thinking about CCW... Don't think small for CCW...Shooting a small gun really well is harder than a full sized weapon. Full size offer more capacity and easier to shoot well...If and when you need that weapon you are gonna probably shoot the worst you ever have... I started with a glock 36 45ACP...light weight, big bore. I could shoot it pretty well but not as good as I thought I needed to. Even after a couple of tactical classes still not as good as I wanted. Full size custom 1911 now is my full time carry gun. Cocked and locked. With the right holster you can conceal a 44 MAG with an 8 inch barrel and forget it is there. Good gun belt makes a difference for total concealment. I would carry a 380 only as a backup to my main. Some other things to remember... Carrying a gun is carrying a parachute or fire extenguisher...you hope you never need it. Carrying a gun is not supposed to be comfortable...it is comforting to know you have a chance to save your own or family's life from some awful tragedy at the hands of some thugs. Most of the time bad guys come in groups...they are not alone.

Several new VMAX on ebay for $15000...what happened to the deposit and wait not to mention the full retail price they selling them for.. Seems that did not work for them. They were expected folks to knock the door down to get one...in this economy? Come on. There are a lot of 09 Ventures still on the show room...in fact there are a lot of 08's still on the show room... Why? economy...price to high...no changes since 99 That new Vstar 950 seems to be selling pretty good but really none of the street bikes from any company are matching sales they had 2-3 years ago. Gas prices go up through this cap and trade bill our goverment is pushing...maybe they will see a few more. I am hoping they do come out with an improved version of the Venture. Am I gonna buy a new one? Not so sure right now. If it looks like that space ship victory...no way I will walk.

Side Reflectors to LED's
CMIKE replied to Hotrod's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Whoa... Got mine from JP Cycles 19.99 each amber or red Part number 3300773 Amber and 3300774 Red 15 single density LEDs per light. They are exactly like the stock reflectors except they have chrome trim around the outside of the LED. The have the 3m stick tape on the back of them just like the rear reflector. I took a 1" aluminum flat bar and installed a bolt flush to mount them on the front. Lot cheaper than $80 a pair http://www.jpcycles.com/Search/ProductDetail?sku=3300773&Ntt=3300773&Ntk=product_number&Ne=0&N=0&Ntt=3300773&Ntk=sku_search&results=10 http://www.jpcycles.com/Search/ProductDetail?sku=3300774&Ntt=3300774&Ntk=product_number&Ne=0&N=0&Ntt=3300774&Ntk=sku_search&results=10 -
Side Reflectors to LED's
CMIKE replied to Hotrod's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yeah what he said. See my profile...easy to hid the wires to swap the red reflectors to LEDS near the bags. Put some black heli wrap on the wires and run them throw the bars and run them near the rear shock air valve into the battery box. Front wrap them again with black heliwrap and tyrap them to the brake lines.. -
Cross Breed IWB and occassionally with back-up in a fanny pack made for the piece around my waist off to the side. "Great Socialist Republic of Wisconsin - I don't. We are one of only 2 states that do not allow concealed carry under any circumstances. Illinois being the other." I do not go to either state for nothing.
