You guys be careful on the road. Especially you guys leaving so early in the morning. Watch out for the critters that jump out when you least expect it. Thanks Lewis for getting this together.

Got to the dollar store and get you 3-4 different reciept books...write your own receipt if you need them. IRS agent during an audit told me to bring reciepts for business stuff after lunch. They were happy as snot to see them after lunch. What they gonna say?

Ok folks...line up...get on your way to Memphis. We should be leaving sometime tommorrow to spend the night. Weather not that promising...but can't have it always the way you want it...

What is the difference between that new 2007 and a 2010? CD player and some decals? 2007/99 or a 2010/99...been the same since 99. Plus it is a Midnight... Who could go wrong.

I know exactly what you are going through. I got a moth in my ear one night while washing my car. That little dude crawled up against my ear drum and would flutter his wings. Talk about hurt. Went to the emergeny room that night...so many (what I thought to be) illegal allians...I could not find a place to stand up and wait to see a doc. I went back home and killed the critter with some rubbing alcohol so I could wait for morning. Doc pulled it out in one peice the next day. Not a fun experience for sure. Hang in there...it will pass with time.

Weird turn signal issues
CMIKE replied to FreezyRider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Replace them with LED boards...and grease the lamp sockets with di-electric grease...you will not be disappointed -
Only one color...black...that is cause they know the black ones are the fastest ones. I am glad to see the Midnight come back. I just wish I knew that a year ago. 9/30/08 I drive all the way to Kentucky to purchase a Midnight Black 07 even with the 08s and 09s on the show room floor...cause that was the last year they made black bike. I can't help if I love the Midnight Black RSV.

Work has a funny thing about getting in the way of all the fun sometimes...I need to quit that thing called work...simply because it causes me to miss all the fun with you guys. Anybody got a spare room for me cause the wife is gonna kick me out...if I don't go to work.

Do you think maybe the tour deluxe is going away to be replaced with the Stratoliner deluxe?

Does anyone else have these problems?
CMIKE replied to SpaceMan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My thoughts on the cruise. I have found if you press the acc button for about a second you get 1 MPh increase. I know what you are talking about that sometimes it does not seem to work. I think it is when you press FAST it to get one MPH increase and release it...maybe it rebounds to the decrease side and cancels out what you intended. Try pressing it for about a second and releasing it slowly. Seems to work for me. -
We have reservations for Friday night in the area pending weather forcast...we should be there. Finally get to meet some of you fine folks.

We made it back yesterday...Great trip. Got home about 3 PM. total miles 1455. We went some interstate and some back roads up to Maryville TN. Spent the night then headed over and ran the Dragons tail US129 then rolled over the Cherohala Skyway. Went back to Maryville for lunch then headed down through Pigeon Forge through the Smoky Mt park to Cherokee NC...no cell service or beer there so went on down to Maggie Valley to spend the night. Great rides that day for sure. Next morning we left Maggie Valley on 19 back to Cherokee then on 441 south to 74 then to 23 then hit 64 into Highlands. Great roads there.. 28 out of there and turned on Warwoman road after we crossed into Georgia and into 76. More great roads . Took 75/17 down into Helen GA. Took 75 alt across to 129N hit 19 then 60 north back up to Blue Ridge GA. During this we stubled apon the Vogel park WOW. Went down 5 to 53 into Rome and when north on 27 up to Summerville GA. Happend apon a beautiful War Memorial there. Took off 48 to 40 to 35 into Scottsboro Ala to spend the night. Many great roads on this day. Left the next morning on the last leg headed home on 79 to 278 across to 13S to 18 to 96 into Columbus MS. 45 South to 21 south to the house. Great 4 day trip. Ready to go back the same route today. Weather was cloudy most of the time but we only got a couple of sprinkles. Wore our jackets most of the time due to it was kinda cool. Almost put on chaps one day especially at the higher elevations. The wife did not get to go with me this time but life ain't over yet. Tires are not flat in the middle no more. Got full even wear on the sides now. Lots of twistys on this trip. I learned to toss this big big around those curves...hard right then throw her over to the left. Here is some photos.

ok...Today I am headed to the Smoky Mts...Waiting till the sun gets up before I leave due to all the critters that like to run out in front of you. First day today should be about 488 miles till our first destination. Planning on riding most the good places and return Thursday before the Labor Day traffic gets all wadded up. I will be escorting a Ultra Classic up to the area with a really good friend of mine so I will not be enjoying all this alone. Wife really wanted to go but she has to work. So... Stay out of my way if you are in a cage...cause I am coming through. PS photos to follow.

Will a VMax rear wheel fit?
CMIKE replied to BigBoyinMS's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Rick who makes custom wheels for the RSV? I have been looking and come up short. I am seriously considering Chrome plating a stock set. If I can ever win a dang auction on ebay for a decent price that I want to pay. Stock Rear wheels are every where, I guess with folks installing Trike kits... with all kinds of prices...front stock wheels are no as plentiful. -
The rear of the RSV and a lot of other bikes IMHO does not have enough lights to be seen well in the daytime or at night. I highly suggest the Genesis LED replacement for the tail/brake lights of the RSV and Tour Deluxe. The Genesis LED has 32 Superbright LED's that really makes an difference. Now they have the Genesis ll with 100 superbright LEDS that will almost blind you at night. I swapped my Genesis to the new Genesis ll 100 LED module. The units cost $50-55 for the Genesis and about $85-90 for the Genesis ll LED's The installation is a snap...they plug in just like the single bulb (Push and twist) and there is no other wiring or load equalizers to install. This Works great and you will be seen. Any other additional LED lighting to the rear of the bike just make them that more visible. Light bars and other lights are a plus for you. Some LED's are brighter than others...the technology is moving fast and they are improving all the time. Custom dynamics is where I buy all mine. They usually keep the newer brighter stuff. I suggest all of you upgrade the back of your bikes so you will be around here a long long time.

Very good list from tx2sturgis I carry all he has on his list but add this Small Slime Air compressor little bit (about 2 foot) of #14 wire Wire nuts Fuses Phillips screw driver 2 sizes Regular screw driver 2 sizes Just a few open end box end wrenches...8 10 12 14 MM I don't carry no cheap off brand stuff. Lot of this stuff will fit under the pad in the tour pack...and under the pads in the bottom of the saddle bags.

Motorkote comments and tracking??
CMIKE replied to Judes Dude's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Please keep us posted on your results. This sounds very interesting. You remember a while back this stuff came out about using Acetone in your gas or diesel to improve you mileage. The acetone was suppose to decease the surface tension of the fuel to allow it to atomize better thus causing 15 to 35% increase in mileage. I did a lot a research on this. Supposed to use in a range of one part to 5000 to one part to 3000 depending on the engine. 0.0003% to 0.0025% acetone...about one - three ounces to 10 gallons of fuel. I worked with this for months trying to get this to work. I measured, calculated, poured and hauled a small bottle of the acetone around with me just hoping to find that perfect mix that would work for my car. I just knew I was gonna spill some of that junk on my car and peal all the paint off of it....cause acetone will work on a paint job. Never did I get over 48 mpg combine city and highway driving driving like I had an egg on top of my accellerator. Normally I get about 50-51 (combined) if I drive it right and about 47 (combined) running the dog out of it (85-90 MPH). It is a VW JETTA Diesel. Folks were claiming to get 48 to 52 in a Gas burning Neon which usually gets about 30 MPG. I wrote emails to folks and they would advise me to increase or decrease my mixture...buy a different brand of Acetone. That junk did not work at all for me. So you can understand where I may be a little bit cautious. I wish you guys the best of luck and hope to hear more about this soon. I like others are mostly concerned about clutch slippage and maybe internal corrosion or sludge build up. Do you put the recommended oil in the bike then add this stuff...overfill it? or just drop the amount of oil and top it off with this stuff? Help us all out...keep us in the loop about what is going on? -
Don't paint it...not #3 MM I love a black bike...but I would not paint a MM especially with that low number
-
For a RSV...You probably would want to pull the drive shaft out so it would not spin all the stuff in the tranny. I think you could damage something if you did not do something to stop all that from spinning. You may not notice it immediately but I think you would decrease the life of the bike. If it was chain drive bike...pop the chain off. Really I would not put any of my bikes in that thing...chain, shaft or belt drive.

Beer30's Stebel Horn Relocation
CMIKE replied to BEER30's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I looked at that location (underneath around the oil filter) cause the thing did not look right to me...replacing the stock horn on the right side. But there was one thing that kinda caught my eye... The instructions had this Bold writing on it... IMPORTANT! Stebel Nautilus Compact Air Horn MUST be installed with the cylinder vertical within 15 degrees as shown here.. It showed the electrical connections pointing down. I'm not sure why they inclued this in the instructions... Let us know how it holds up laying flat. -
Very very rarely do I ride at night. It will be mostly cause I got caught out after dark. I know what you mean about cooler and really fun to ride at night...but...there are way to many critters that will get in your way at night around here. Deer is my main concern. It is not uncommon to see them at 3PM in the afternoon here. Just wait till the season opens. Deer jerky for everyone.

We don't care what you ride...bring them all. By the way Welcome to the group. :TEAL:
