I think I will just stop and do my business...sounds like it may be something like pissing into the wind. That is never a good thing

Really? I never had much dealing with heated clothing but I would think it could pull some serious wattage. I guess I just assumed that from some of the post talking about upgrading the stators and seems that was mostly when they start using heated clothes. I had a set a battery socks one time...does that count? Not sure of the wattage but they would smoke a set a D cell batteries pretty quick. Good to know if I ever had the need for any.

Yep I remember seeing that now...mighty pnewny aux DC power...definitely would not carry much load. I was looking for some thing to do some good. But 5 amps is not very much anyway. I set a new 6 circuit fuse block under the seat and run all my extra stuff off it.
-
DC outlet...I think there is only one one like you said on the inner faring. The elecrical drawings shows 2 so called DC outlets. I think some bikes have another one that is supposed to be another DC wires or a connector plug or something somewhere around the left saddle bag/rear fender/driver seat area. I have never seen it on my 07 RSV and let me tell you I have had it apart installing LEDs. I have heard it supplies power for the optional CD player. I do not have a CD player so I cannot tell you. I have never seen it on my bike... I have installed a one of those DC outlets inside my front fairing to run my XM. Maybe the older bikes have one but my 07 does not that I can find.

Stock Yamaha Bulb is about $33. SKU: 2F9-84314-00-00 BULB (12V-60/55W) (H4) HALOGEN I would go to would go to Walmart and find a Sylvania Silver Star Ultra ( it is in the Golden brown package) 9003 is the same as a H4 I changed mine out just because I wanted a brighter headlight. I am very pleased. I think it was about $25

I probably do not ride as many miles in a year as some of you guys but I am rather proud to say...I purchased the Black Betty Sept 30 2008 with 19 miles on her. I put 12,034 miles before the one year anniversary. I had a goal of 10,000 miles and very proud to say I exceeded it. Very very pleased with the bike. I have set a goal of at least 14,000 miles for 2009.

I do not know about these Aux tanks. I always have to pee way before I get close to running out of gas.

Second the Roady ll. I think Freebird is right about them not making them anymore but... Look on Ebay. I have seen brand new units in the box with all the accessories and remote control for around $20. They are all over EBAY. I also recommend purchased an FM direct adapter so I would not have to use my Aux port to get the audio in the sound system. This box is injects the audio on a frequency you determine on the roady 2 like you are setting the FM transmitter. It injects the audio directly into the FM radio through the FM antenna wires. you will have to split the faring to connect it where the FM antenna connects to the Radio. IT goes in series with the FM antenna...no degradation of signal or preformance of FM radio...you will have to turn the power off of the XM unit to listen to the AM/FM radio and you get no interference like you would with a FM transmitter. 88.3 as a preset on my FM dial...no matter what radio station is around at 88.3 XM loud and clear no static or fuzz. Audiovox, Delphi and others make these for about 23-25 bucks. Any car audio store should have them or you can get all kinds of stuff at www.MYRADIOSTORE.com ... including mounts and brackets to mount the radio on the handle bars of the bike. I use my XM Roady ll on the my bike...at home...in my shop both truck and car and at my desk at work. I am gonna get my monies worth for that monthly subscription.

I was told to use tail light tent. I think Got2manytoys had did his and I saw some photos of his bike... I found it on line but could not find it locally in any of the parts stores. Tail light tint is made to blacken the red tailights on cars or trucks. I looked even in Lousiana where I work. So... On the lower wind deflectors on the forks....I put about 20 coats of Testors window tint model paint...that is used to tint the windows of plastic model cars. It is a tint that is for plastics just like the Tail light tint. Painted the back side with many coats to get them as dark as I wanted them...they look black till you put a light behind them and then you see they are dark tint. I would not recommend this proceedure. Way to much trouble... and not cost effective. I used better than 2 cans to get them as dark as I wanted...at about 3 bucks a can. On the clear ones at the bottom of the front fairing...I cannot remember the brand of it and not at home right now. It was a black gloss for plastics...bought it at Lowes. You know they make that paint for painting those plastic chairs. I split the fairing and took them off taped up the front side then put on 2 coats and that took care of it. It really blends in with the fairing and all the other black really good. Goes good with the Midnight bike. Good luck and if I had it to do again...I would not mess with the tint...go for the full black paint and get it over with.

I tinted my the clear lower fork peices with some tint spray...kept putting a coat on till I got them as dark as I wanted....many many coats. I wanted to do the clear pieces on the bottom of front fairing also...so I took them off and painted them black on the inside... The both look the same...but a lot less work and waiting time for them to dry. They are holding up good and look great to me...especially on a midnight bike. I may paint the vents on the lower fairing but not sure it will stay since wind/bugs/rocks hit bot sides of them. When I break these or have a probable...I am gonna Buddy Rich to build me some black one then.
-
I think the 07 midnight was the first midnight with the pillow top seats...all the rest of the midnight models I think had the studded flat seats. The Chrome studs look good but...I love my pillow top seats.

I think that select button is built into the speedo assembly. I think it is built into one assembly. You have to split the fairing to get at it....which is not really that much trouble. Pull the two screws on for the chrome peice around the windshield... Pull the two bolts on the driving light/turn signal assembly... Pull all the bolts out of the windshield and carefully remove it... Pull the 6 or 8 bolts on the inside edge of the inner fairing...and one bolt ont he bottom of the head light. Then the fairing slides right off.

Man the bike looks great...You did a fantastic job. Be careful idle her down...slower you idle...the less oil pressure she makes. I know it sounds great like that but you would not want to damage the engine. I had one of those spinner bulbs at first and my buddies said they could not tell if I was stopping or not with it...so I got scared and took it out. If fact I got 2 of them hanging on the wall not being used anymore. Just be careful with them. Again Great job on the bike.

You also get a discount from GARMIN. We are in due to you had to show your card to race motocross at some events. They have some good benifits...but on the racing side of things... WAY WAY to political. Racing bikes are for racing not riding everyday on the highway...when they go to testing the exhaust sound, lead in the fuel and oxygenates in the fuel that regular pump gas will not even pass...they are crossing the line. We would not burn a gallon of gas in a race. 5 gallons would last a 3 day weekend. You don't see NHRA testing fuel or exhaust sound levels. I always want them to stay in the riders rights...rider safety and track safety...that is my 2 cents. Seems they never want to deal with track safety... I think a bike is already a Green Machine compaired to the truck I used to pull the camper 300 miles to the race track or the generator that ran 24/7 for the entire time we were there in the 100 degree heat.

I used the Slime with the extention hose to hit. I really like it. I got 3 of them around the house...they all read within a pound of each other. AS long as it is not off terribly (pound or 2)...get one and stick to it. I check them once in a while to make sure one is not off terribly. Pencil type guages...I just don't trust them anymore...not accurate enough.

You talking about the chrome whiskers on the front fairing? I pulled mine off a couple of weeks ago and then the 2010 RSV's came out without them. 10 lb fishing line took them right off. Now that double sided sticky tape was not so easy. 3M makes some adhesive remover that sure made it a lot easier than it could be without it. It was stuck pretty good. I think it looks better without them. Not particular fond of the flames that the 2010 bikes have on them. It seemed to clean up the front fairing to me. My bike is a Midnight and I do not have any photos as of yet and won't be back home till Wednesday to get some photos. Not sure it would help any since you got a Blue/Black RSV. Go ahead...rip them off...you will like it. You can put them back on if you don't.

See the signature... When went to pick it up in Kentucky and they rolled it out of that warehouse in the back...we could see it from a distance across the parking lot...Black Betty the song came to mind immediately. Kinda stuck.

I use the XM Roady 2...One radio on the bike...in the car...in the truck...at work and in my shop/garage at home. It is always on...somewhere. listening to it now in the office. They do not make the Roady 2 anymore I do not think but they are cheap on ebay. For about $20 you can get the whole setup...sometimes brand new in the box.

I don't know but I hope so... Man that looks cool... Be sure to keep us posted on the progress.

Heel - Toe shifter has to go!
CMIKE replied to Owen's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
So far it seems the BILLET SINGLE ARM SHIFT LEVERS do not exsist. 2 dealers that still list it on thier site have rejected my orders due to this coming back in the email... Both of them were in all caps... "UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO CANCEL THIS ORDER THE PART YOU ORDERED HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED BY YAMAHA AND THERE ARE NO MORE" Still looking for one.- 60 replies

Might want to drain some of the fuel out of it to make it lighter. I keep mine topped off when it is parked. Tank removal is really easy...and a Lighter tank is easier to slip it off without dinging it on the bars of something. Go slow and it is nothing to it.
-
Pretty cool...never saw one of those. Where did you find this item? I have an 08 Vstar 650 and the headlight does not come on till the bike is running... It works only on the intial start up. If you hit the kill switch after it is running...head light stays on even while the starter is running. If you cut the key off and back on...then the head light will be off till the engine is started. I really like that function. I will bet you could tie it to something else like an Oil pressure switch or something to duplicate the same function of the Vstar 650.

Front Blinker bulbs? (or led replacements)
CMIKE replied to screamstone's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I am not sure about the 2000 RSV but my 07 and most of the newer RSV's use the BAZ 3 pin type bulb for the front and the 7507 for the rear. You can pull one of them and go to the web site to make sure. If you go with the custom Dynamics LED turn signals...you will not be dissappointed. I have replaced all my lights to LEDs from them and they are really bright and work great. I would also suggest the replacement tail light. The new 100 LED tail light is the brightest in the industry.
