  1. This happened yesterday... The weather was very iffy...forcast was for lots and lots of rain. I checked the weather and radar had the rain about 100 miles to the west from me so I decided to take that chance to get some miles on the local county roads while I had a chance. I met one bike on a the highway and it was one of the different brand bikes... Black Betty looks kinda like those different brand bikes with the passing lights and all from a distance. As we approached each other I stuck out my hand and waved at him and he dropped his arm down low to wave and then quickly picked it back up... Opps... Black Betty was not a different brand bike like his... He turned his head to see what brand the Black Betty was and almost missed the next curve. I about fell off laughing so hard at that fool.
  2. Which bike you asking about...1st or 2nd generation Yamaha Venture or the Tour Deluxe? On the 2nd generation Venture I have installed Barons 1" riser extentions without replacing any of the cables. You need 3 dang hands to install them...and I did have to re route my throttle cable 5-8 times to get it where it would fully release when turned to full lock to the right. After that...I adjusted the bars for a month till I finally settled on the most comfortable position. Worth the money and effort to me. :TEAL:
  3. and while you are in there you can install a FM Direct Adapter so you will not have to use the AUX port on the Cassette player to get the XM Audio into your speakers and you can hook up the power outlet plug that comes with it under the fairing also so you can free up the power outlet on the inner fairing for charging cell phones and other stuff while on your trips. This FM direct adapter injects the FM modulated signal directly into the FM antenna input of your Radio via the antenna connector. You actually put this little box in series with your AM/FM antenna. With most FM modulators as you travel you run into areas where you get interference and poor audio clarity. When you inject it directly into the antenna port of the AM/FM radio...no interference ever. Another thing you can do...it put an aux splitter and run an aux audio point around your front brake master cylinder for an IPOD or MP3 player. The FM adapters can be found a audio stores and on line. Here is one place... http://www.myradiostore.com/fmmodulators/audiovox-fm-direct-adapter-xmfm1.html http://cdn.myradiostore.com/mrs.primary.us.en/di/productShots/DynamicProductShotDisplay/wmep9419-xtfe9018/2073_74432001.jpg
  4. I got the same pegs and the air vents...I had a heck of a time getting my pegs adjusted to suit me. I road with allen wrenches and 3/4 box end for a month till I got them like I want. It was hard for me to get them where they are comfortable and stay out of the way of the shifter. I finally cut the bottom of the air vents to work with the pegs... I hated to do it but...hey I wanted to use both fully... Slightly customized...take a look http://www.venturerider.org/forum/picture.php?albumid=276&pictureid=1930
  5. Pick... Nothing aimed at you at all but...Realistically what can you do in that situation.. Driveway/parking lot is private property...could be arrested for trespassing. Punch him in the nose and proceed to whoop his axx? Face assault charges? Pull out a gun and shoot him? Face assault with a deadly weapon or murder 1 charge over this piece of trash... This was my first instinct to rid this world of such bile... I thought he was kidding at first...he said he was not kidding. Believe me when I say...I wanted to do all of the above plus pull his head off and sxxx down his neck. It has been a long time since I was that mad and I hope it is a lot longer till I am again. But I took a deep breath and asked him his name, then I told him he needs to remember...everyone who is in this parking lot is either a customer or a potential customer. Next I said a bunch of ugly words describing his appearance and shape. Then I left on my RSV very pxxxxd off. Later I called that different brands head quarters and then I went on a email campaign and sent emails to everyone I could find explaining how I was treated. I worked my way up the line...I got responses but they were a bunch of BS also... They heard from me and know it happened...all the way up the chain of the other dealers command. My buddy that rides the different brand could not believe this was happening either, he thought I was gonna blow a gasket...
  6. Congratulations...you have the best of both worlds...
  7. I do not see nothing that was not good nature teasing. I guess if I was treated like a Human being, just like my buddy who owns a differnt brand of bike that I rode most of the miles that are now on my bike with...(They talk to him all day long and not even a nod toward me that I exsisted.) I guess if I was not asked to park my bike across the parking lot by that different brands dealership... (If you ride with a guy that rides a different brand you will be stopping at many of those different brand dealerships.) I guess If before I purchase my bike I had not listen to some of the wildest BS from the dealers of that different brand...(I was doing research to see if I wanted to buy one from that different brand...and really thought I wanted one from that different brand...and my wife loved that different brand...cause it was a different brand...the only till she road on the back of one for a 1/2 day and her foot almost caught fire... did she reconsider) I never follow the majority anyway so...what do you expect. I did not buy the different brand. I could afford it at the time cause I had saved my money a long time. I guess if I had not been to the MSF school put on by that different brand and listen to all that BS sales pitch for the majority of the class that I paid too much for... ( I went mainly to get my boy some training so he could get his bike endorsement) I could be totally neutral on the subject... None of this so called bashing was directed at any person directly... especially anybody that belongs to this site. It mostly was from our experience from the different brand riders...a small few but bad apples in my book. I will ride with anybody just as long as we get to ride...stop to help anybody, offer anybody a place to sleep if they need one and pay for a tank of gas or a meal if they need some help...no matter what they RIDE. I think everybody here would do the same thing cause we are all bound by a common bond called a motorcycle. Big ones, small ones, different brand one, pretty ones, ugly ones and even some Yamaha's. That bond is stronger than most of us really want to admit...but it exsist in every one of us. We would not do nothing to hurt each other intentionally. If somebody got thier feelings hurt...it was a misunderstanding. Anybody ever had problems at any of the M&E's in the past? I suspect not cause we have that bond. That is my 2 cents for what it is worth.
  8. You got a Paypal account yet? Sure would be handy getting the money to you fast. Thanks for getting these together.
  9. I too purchase my last tires from Southwest moto. Good prices and great service... There is a site I used to use for Motocross parts..RockymountianATV now has a sister site now... www.JAKEWILSON.com They have street bike stuff...and looks like some good prices on tires. I know the sister site was dang hard to beat for service and prices orders over $99 free 1-3 day shipping. They are good folks I know for sure. You want to shop them also.
  10. Plus 1 on that. At work we have a Emergency response unit...Really a big camper but has offices and emergency response equipment in it. It has a Frieghtliner front end....Needed a oil change and a service...so we called all the camper places since we bought it from a camper place... PRices Sky high and some would not even do that... Called the local Frieight liner dealer... I could not beleive the difference in prices. Another thing to consider with those bus type motorhomes...you will be the first to arrive in a accident I am just a poor boy with a pull behind toy hauler camper that needs a new home.
  11. That green lizzard...geoico
  12. C/T...Called the DARKSIDE???...Some of these guys on here actually run a CAR TAR on the back of their motorcycles. That sounds kinda crazy don't it. I am still shaking my head about all that in disbelief. but they do it. I have met a few of them and maybe some are just a little bit crazy. But over 3/4 of us are a little more than crazy on here anyway so why not...

  14. Not sure but...what if the car tire increased the height of your hitch just a little...and picked up the tongue of your trailer just little. If the tongue was up just a little would that not cause the tongue weight to drop just a little. I really think the handling has something to do with the tongue weight. Any trailer with not enough tongue weight will respond as you described. My son recently bought a Yamaha Rhino. I had the pleasure of driving 2 1/2 hours to pick it up. Got a new trailer to haul it on since I did not have nothing that was not too big (8x22 22 ft to big to haul it to the deer camp) or too small (4x8). Did the paper work and loaded it up and took off down the interstate...Rhino against the front of the trailer... The trailer started walking back and forth after a lane change. Stopped to check on it...the Rhino had slipped back about 1 inch. Two rachet straps later, problem solved by holding it tight against the front of the trailer. 1 inch had made a difference on how it pulled. But the trailer without the load had about a 5 lb tongue weight. Too light in the front end to start with. I would empty the tour pack or saddle bags into the front of the trailer if this happens again.
  15. ME TOO... That is really cool but I was expecting a bunch of bells hanging under the radiator and off the floor boards.
  16. That an Obama sticker on the back fender?
  17. Very good information...I appreciate you taking the time to share this with the group. It is very useful to me.
  18. http://www.swmototires.com/ Don't think so...got an email a week or so ago that said they handle ATV tires now
  19. no reply at all...I guess they have so much money they do not need any more... I think I will eventually get a set of used stock wheels off ebay and have them chromed
  20. Dunlop 402 I believe for the ultra classic
  21. It is mostly the same everywhere. From what my favorite dealer tells me...they cannot pay them enough to keep a good mechanic. The other dealership down the road gives them $1 more and hour and they gone...he gives them $0.50 more and they are back. Mostly anybody that can identify different wrenches can work in a dealership as a mechanic. The most trouble dealers have with bikes is adjustments and set up. Rarely do they do rebuilds or real deep repair. I have found one dealership that has guys working there that have gray hair...to me that is a plus. Most are kids with no experience and it is just a job. So far I had not let any dealer touch my bike...I removed the wheels and hauled them down to them so they could change the tires. I pulled the rear end down to lube the drive pins and splines when it made all that noise at 800 miles. You know it is not just the the motorcycle dealerships...I bought a SHO Taurus from the local Ford Dealership. It was a left over on the lot with a few miles on it and a hell of a deal. $10K off sticker. It did not have one of the key bob remotes and they were to get me one so I would have 2 for the car. After a week or so they called and said it was in...bring the car so they could program the remote. To program the remote they had to access the ECU and put in a jumper or something...so they got in the trunk looking for it. There was a card board like panel against the back seat where they thought the ECU was located. Instead of removing the bolts to gain access to it...they just ripped it back to see if it was there. The ecu was under the dash behind the glove box. They brought the car back out and said it was ready...I put my laptop backin the trunk and saw the panel torn off. I flipped out of course and they had to get a new one to replace it 2 weeks later. Of course I called Ford and complained also. I have my doubts about any dealership...car truck or bike unless I know who is doing the work and trust them. I will continue to do all my own work so I can make sure it is done right.
  22. Go for it...tab browsing works great...I like the short cuts you can put across the top also
  23. Now you know you were spec in my rearview mirror...the BLACK ones are always the fastest. But I admit... you did beat me on gas mileage....Just wait till I sync your carbs...I will fix that.
  24. Me either...installed a Speedo Healer last night...Going on a day ride today to tweek the calibration. The installation and set up was quick and easy.
  25. Here is a link to the tail light tint. Some say you can find this in auto parts store...but I had not luck around my area. http://www.shopcustomcreations.com/VHT-Nite-Shades-Tint-SprayBlack-Out-Tail-Light/prod-530.html You don't have to get it from here...shop around find the best deal. I think JP cycles has it also. Search in Google "Tail light Tint" This is made to tint plastic tail light lenses. From my experience...I would just paint them black...Spray tint is a slow process to get them as dark as I wanted them. Be sure you scrub them down with soap and water to get all the bugs and dirt off them...wipe them down with something to removed the oil from your fingerprints. Alcohol works good.
