  1. 2003 VW Jetta Diesel White 4 door Standard transmission...Love it 50 MPG. 161000 miles I do most of my traveling in it. No problems at all. 2006 F250 4x4 4 door Diesel. White 40000 miles. Love it...hate the gas mileage 17/14. Very very nice truck. No problems at all 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4 door hard top. 28000 miles Silver with black top. Looks great but I HATE it...rattles, brakes are weak, V6 engine is weak, uses oil, drip rails off the hard top run water straight into the floor board when you open the door and its it raining. Gas mileage worst than the F250 diesel. I will never buy a Jeep again.
  2. Oh no... if I buy a trailer to haul the ironing board...that opens up room for a lot more stuff to carry. I will need a Uhaul to follow behind us before it is over. Got to draw the line here...no trailer. If we cannot get it in the bags on the bike...it don't go or at least I hope it don't. I am trying to teach "travel light"...be easily portable. Don't tell anybody but I really like those Bushtec trailers, but they are costly. Her cousin has a black one he pulls behind a 05 RSMV. Really sharp...
  3. You have as much respect as anybody here...we value all opinions, yours included. If you are running stock tires...then run what Yamaha says run in the tire...Dunlop 404's came on my bike...and Yamaha Manual says run 36 front 41 in the rear fully loaded. 41 is the MAX sidewall listed inflation pressure for the 404. Dunlop recommends 36 and 40. I am now running Dunlop E3's. I run 36 in the front and 40 in the rear...which is what Dunlope recommends for the Venture. 40PSi is the Sidewall MAX pressure on the Dunlop E3. I do not under any circumstances run over sidewall MAX inflation on my bike tires. some do...and that is the risk they are willing to take. Avons usually run a with a little more pressure than the Dunlop tires...as long as you do not exceed MAX sidewall pressure...I feel you should be just fine. You need to realize these ventures are really heavy bikes...and carry a heavy load when you are 2 up on a trip with your wife helping you pack. Heck...I am still trying to figure out a good way to haul the ironing board. Oh yeah...welcome to the site...you will enjoy it here and there is a lot of information here plus a lot of really friendly folks here just waiting to help each other out. :TEAL:
  4. how much you in for?
  5. I guess this goes in the same catagory as "Acceptable Risk" that folks are willing to take. If you are running more than the side wall says as MAX pressure...you are assuming un-neccessary risk. Why take the chance...we want all of you to be as safe a possible so we can meet and eat and have a jolly old time.
  6. Run what is wrote on the sidewall for an E3...anything over that you are over inflated. 36 front and 40 rear. These are not Avons that are designed to run close to 50 PSI. Over inflation cause tire failure (Plus premature wear)...something that can ruin a good riding day with trips to the hospital or if you are lucky...just put you on the side of the road till help arrives.
  7. I have front and rear E3's on my 2nd gen...got over 7000 miles on them and ther rear that usually wears out first looks great...may get 11-12000 out of them... I am not at home or I would measure the tread depth for you. I figure it is about 1/3 worn. Made a great difference in handling compaired to the Dunlope 404's Will I buy them again...YES. Search this forum for E3's and Avons...you will see lots of information on them as well as mileage folks are getting. :TEAL: We hope you hang around past the trial period...lots if information here well worth 12 bucks a year...check out the tech section...lots of how to articles... Many many friendly folks that want to help if you need some help.
  8. Probably a set of Plasma rods on the back from custom dynamics
  9. That is some good stuff there...
  10. I think there is more good reasons to add the driving/passing lights than bad. If they are installed correctly...not like the instructions say...you will never have any trouble. sure they are a son of a gun to remove when you have to split the faring...but how often is that. Make sure you install a relay to carry the load of the new lights... I ordered the stand off bracket for mine so I could split the faring with out having to remove the lights...I did not like the way the lights were pushed out and the lower deflectors were away from the front forks so I removed the extra bracket and changed the bolts that attach the lights. I split my faring many times installing different accessories when I first got it but now I think I have settled down and do not expect to have to remove it. I split the faring in a hotel parking lot with just a few hand tools while on a trip once, due to some problems with my accessories. My friends that were riding with me were amazed that it was so easy to take off and put back on so easy. Don't worry about...put the lights on and be safer.
  11. At least it is the right color...
  12. I got a sinlge lever shifter for the RSMV. I have looked and looked for one and finally found one at a place that had one in stock. I cannot wait to get that toe/heal shifter off. I also got some RAM mounts to move my XM over some to make room for my new RAM mount cup holder. I got some of my Christmas early. I got to go to a 2 day school Dec 4-5th that I have been wanting to go to all year over in Alabama. Had a great time at the school. Oh lets not forget...we got Health Care from the goverment for Christmas...Now we get to pay more for it... Hope you all had a Great Christmas. I sure did.... at least before I had to come back to work on the 22nd. I got here 12/22 and get to go back home 12/30 to celibrate New Years with my Honey.
  13. I guess my question would be..."Why turn them off at all?" Mine stays on all the time. I want to make sure I am seen and I think the more lights on front would help me be seen. AM I missing something?

    Dealers

Heck what is the difference between an 07 left over and a 2010 RSV? NOTHING but the Price. Somebody needs to get that bike...especially if it is a Midnight.
  15. No no...VW Jetta Diesel average 47 MPG hwy and city.
  16. I would love to have a shorter windsheild but I am pretty afraid of the buffeting. I rode a little Vstar 650 and installed a windshield on it in the lower position so I could just see over it...It buffeted so bad my glasses virbrated and it made it hard to see. I do not understand how some folks have the buffeting and some do not...you see a lot of shorter windshields on the RSV. What gives? or better yet.. WHY?
  17. Ditto here on the Billet Air covers. Did not ride it many miles before I installed the K&N so I do not know if there is any increase in mileage or performance on the bike. I had one on my 99 Ford truck and like Midnightventure...no real improvement in gas mileage...but I did notice a little bit better get up a go. On my VW Diesel...I got about 3 MPG increase with a Stock replacement K&N. That pushed me over 52 MPG hwy mpg. I now average 47 city and highway with the K&N.
  18. Get well soon...I hope to see you on that bike by the time it gets warmer. Hang in there and get your self ready for some long enjoyable rides.
  19. I got the yellow aluminum Craftsman. Really like it. Remember this thing is gonna hold that dear to your heart bike. I guess that is one place I was kinda afraid to skimp. I wanted a good one. Choose carefully.

    A Honda

That honda kinda reminds me of one of them victory visions. I hope Yamaha has not seen the Vision and started to get any ideas about the 2010 RSV. From what they wrote there...i bet it will run hard if you showered down on it. I bet it gets real squirrelly at higher speeds with that trunk sticking up so high. Somebody go buy one so we can really hear how they perform.
  21. Welllll.... Yamaha did not make a charcoal RSV in 07...only a Midnight and black/blue I am pretty sure it is an 08 model. The guy probably knows nothing about it and does not know they come with a 5 year warranty. Without the mufflers I know it is loud...very loud. I took mine off for a few minutes...could not stand that. Neighbors started coming outside to see what was going on and they are 200 yards away.
  22. Not trying to add fuel to the fire... See this thread on for comments on Royal Purple. [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34715]royalpurpleoil - VentureRider.Org[/ame]
  23. Nah you have not sinned. IT is your money and you do what you want with it. Enjoy it and keep us updated. We need someone here that can clue us in on the little querks of that bike. They all got a little something here or there. I think this group has just about everything else...so why not a space ship bike. To each his own.
  24. Yeah I would like to know also. I have been looking at these off and on for a while. I really want to find someone that has a set...to find out do they work after a while installed. I need to know how you keep all that lubed up so it keeps working after a couple of thousand miles. ???
  25. You got a good point..but When I first purchased that very loud yellow (or is it Green?) vest...occasionally I would would ride without it. I very distinctly noticed a difference with and without it. Without it...seems folks look you right in the eye (make eye contact) and pull out in front of you in traffic. They seem to stay put when you make eye contact wtih them wearing the nerd vest. I do not depend on it to hold them to keep them from pulling out but from my experience, I do not have to get on the brakes as much or dodge as many of them. Still got to ride like they are all trying to kill you and you will encounter some sleepers behind the wheel. I see several folks talking about wearing a reflective jacket...that may work fine just before or after dark...but during the day timeI do not believe it is doing you much good. It is the Color that makes a difference in the daylight hours. White helments have been proven to increase your visiablity. Lighter color jackets help.
