  1. Same here..but my boy wants to ride it...so maybe...just maybe this spring...I may take him up there so he can.
  2. I never thought it would happen. I am at work here in Lafayette...with no TV... I could tell the game was over... folks screaming all over the place...fireworks going off still. Traffic is picked up a whole bunch and car horns blowing continuously. Music playing wide open. I am not a big football fan at all... I guess I never had much faith in them saints. They never impressed me before but I guess they have now.
  3. Those aluminum blocks are made really well and work get. Tony does a great job on them. I purchased one and installed it but just did not like the look...since it moved the lower plastic deflectors out also...and I did not like the look. So I took it off and sold it to a member here on the site. I do not remove my one a week but I have had it off probably close to a dozen times since Oct 2009 installing stuff. I think you need to see a RSV with one installed so you do not do like me and loose some money in shipping. It is a personal preference thing.
  4. You know summer is the best time to take photos of our bikes if we want to get a calender together. We could take photos of them while on some trips to mix in with the polished and posed shots. Maybe the group could vote on which ones to include in the calender since only about 12 could be there. Now is the time to get started working on it for 2011. What do you think?
  5. Great products from this company. I first bought the 32 LED tail light...and added a strobe unit to it.. This was a really bright tail light...50 times better than stock. Plug and play... See this video in this thread... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32917 Then they came out with the 100 LED tail light. I just had to have it... So I sold the 32 LED and purchased the 100 LED... Now it is 100 times brighter that stock. I would highly recommend it. Money well spent since the RSV really needs some more lights on the back end.
  6. I like the revco hanging under the swing arm. I got those and it is a nice neat install.
  7. I work real close to that place. Once while we were still racing motocross, I needed to pick up a clutch lever to replace my spare parts since we had broke one the week before. I walked in...and they have I think 3 brands of bikes in there. Asked for a clutch lever for a Yamaha YZ250F/450F or YZ125/YZ250. They said they do not have them in stock but they can order me one. I said OK what about a clutch lever for a Suzuki 125 250F/450F or 250 two stroke? Do not have them but they can order me one. What about an aftermarket clutch lever for any of those bikes. Nope...none in stock but they can order it. I asked them how much to order me one. They were 3 times the price I could buy one anywhere else. I quickly exited and never never been back. Something as common as a clutch lever that gets broken regularly on a racing bike should be keep in stock. That one part is the same on a bunch of bikes. I do believe it is a tax write off for somebody cause I could not dream of buying a bike from them.
  8. Best I found... http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com
  9. You are pretty far north for a Air cooled condenser to work efficently year round...in my opinion UNLESS you use a ground loop or Geothermal for the outside condenser. Lots of times the cost to dig up your yard seems extreme but in climates there you have a lot of days below 32F it will pay out in the long run. Those $500 light bills are due to the emergency heat (Heat Strips) coming on since there is not enough heat in the outside air to bring inside and heat the house. Keep in mind how a heat pump works. It is only an air conditioner with a reversing valve...that allows the system to remove heat from inside the house in the summer and dump it outside. In winter it reverses and gathers heat from outside and dumps it inside to heat the house. If it is below 32F outside...little or no heat to bring inside. Using Geothermal with your condenser in the ground below the freeze line allows you to grab heat from the ground and bring it inside. The ground below the freeze line stays pretty stable year round. Search the web for heat pump ground loop or Geothermal for more information. Also another tip with any system you choose. Go with the highest SEER value you can afford. Engineer your system...most installers look at the house and really guess what size unit to install along with the duct work. Any installer can grab a unit and make it work...but is it gonna be the best suited for your home. Do not go with the cheapest installer. You should consider...ceciling height, insulation type and quanity...square inches of windows and what kind of windows you have...also consider north facing walls and how many windows and how many inches of glass are on these walls. Engineering the duct work also gets a good balance of air flow inside the house. This prevents cool or hot spots and better function of the thermostat to maintain comfort inside the home. I engineered my installation...we do not live as far north as you but my electric bill averages about $150 on an all electric home 2350 square foot with 9 and 10 foot celings with lots of Low E glass windows and cellulose insulation. WE too did have a spike in the electric bill during the recent 8 degree nights/15 degree days that lasted about 2 weeks and it jumped up to $300. Neighbors are having to take out a loan to pay theirs. I ran mine through 2 different HVAC engineering software...and it calculated size of duct all the way to the air registers with size of unit down to the size of the lines to connect the inside to the outside. It took a lot to get all the information in...but it was worth it. Good luck finding somebody to really work with you to get it right.
  10. I will take one. LEt me know where the Paypal should go... Thanks
  11. Last night I pulled the faring to replace my XM antenna and move the XM on to a new RAM mount, so I had to adjust the wiring with that. I noticed some bolts missing that hold the top trunk on the bike, on the chrome braces that go down to both sides side of the rear fender... Holy smokes. I checked all the rest of them and all of they were loose. I replaced them with some stainless I had on hand till I can do better. I put locktite on all of them. Over 14000 miles on the bike and just now finding this... I have lost one seat bolt and now these bolts. Heads up to all to go check these bolts on your bike before the riding season gets started. . I am wondering what else I should check? I already got the items listed below Dog bones on the engine Chrome trim on the fender tips Had the mufflers off so they got checked Had the both front and rear wheels so all that got checked (brakes calipers included) Tank as been off so that is good Bags have been of so that has been checked Fairing off several times along with the passing lights Risers installed so that has been touched Checked the bag lid hinges several times and know that is something to check regularly. What else do I need to check for tightness?
  12. You guys are in our prayers. I know it is tough on both of you. God Speed on a speedy recovery.

    US Census

Not so sure I would go that far but...most of this information should be availble from other government agencies. Like how may automobiles you have...the states should know how many vehicles they have licensed in a state. They should know how may babies were born in the last 12 months cause you have to get a Birth certificate. State and local tax authorites know what the building is worth or at least what the tax it on. They know how many cars pass down a certian road through the hwy department checks that occasionally.
  14. I feel it was me that might have caused it to go away but..I did not see nothing politcal about anything I posted or anything that was posted before me. I would appreciate if someone would explain to me where the politics was in that post so I will know next time what to stay away from. I know we should not get into arguments about candidates or what one or the other party is doing in our governement and how we feel about it. I am sure golbal warming and gun control is one of the issues to stay away from also. I did not see any of that. I will admit I did, (but not on purpose) highjack the thread to share some information, I felt very strongly that all should consider if they plan on carring a gun. Most folks are not aware of that responsiblity. If you do not want to post it openly...the PM me so I will know. WE are all supposed to be sort of friends here...If I need an XXX chrewing for doing something wrong...Do me a favor and let me know...I am not thin skinned. I know...I know... I probably should have sat back and kept my mouth shut on this one also.
  15. Not in a particular order... 1. Tenn 1. NC 1. SC 1. VIRgina 1. GA And i know there are more...out west...just have not made it out there yet. But soon I hope

    US Census

I got one of them in my hand. It is real.Got US dept of commerce on every page. Rreturn envelope addressed to Director U. S. Census Bureau and has up at the corner. Offical Business Pentalty for Private USE $300 It is called the American commuity Survey. Got this off the US census site... ADDITIONAL TOPICS IN THE AMERICAN COMMUNITY SURVEY Social Characteristics: Marital Status | Marital History | Fertility | Grandparents as Caregivers | Ancestry | Place of Birth, U.S. Citizenship and Year of Entry | Language Spoken at Home | Educational Attainment and School Enrollment | Residence 1-Year Ago | Veteran Status: Disability Rating and Period of Service Economic Characteristics: Income | Food Stamps Benefit | Labor Force Status | Industry, Occupation, and Class of Worker | Place of Work and Journey to Work | Work Status Last Year | Vehicles Available | Health Insurance Coverage Housing Characteristics: Year Structure Built | Units in Structure | Year Moved into Unit | Rooms | Bedrooms | Plumbing | Kitchen Facilities | House Heating Fuel | Telephone Service Available | Home Value | Rent | Mortgage Status | Selected Monthly Owner Costs He has been talking to them on the phone from the number provided on the survey packets...they told him the penaltys were increased in OCt 2009 to $5000.

    US Census

I have one of the Census surveys that they sent him. 48 questions. I am looking at it. I have one of the brochures that was included in with the survery...under frequently asked questions. "Do I have to answer all of the questions on the american community survey? YES. Your responce to the survey is required by LAW (Title 13, US Code, Section 141 and 193). Title 13, as changed by Title 18, imposes a penalty for not responding. We estimate this survey will take about 38 minutes to complete." One of the letters that the census sent says the fines were amened in 2009 from $100 to $5000. I talked to my buddy a while ago...he said was on the phone with the census folks yesterday and asked them why they need all this detailed information. They said...what if you move across the country...how would you know what the houseing is gonna cost in your new location. He told her he would call a real estate agent in the area. They said they provide that information to the real estate aents from this survey. WHAT? So...if my buddy who is no real estate person or no appraiser of real estate..puts on this survey that his house is worth $50,000 cause he really has no idea and is just guessing since he paid that for it in 1983. The Census is gonna feed that to all the Real estate agents for what the local houseing cost in the area. Seems to me the Realestate agent would look at the houses he has sold in the past 6 months to see what they are going for. Do they really think we are that stupid. I really think there are 2 differnt census surverys...the 10 question that is going to arrive in the next few months and this one is random...somebody here got one in Jan 09 that sounded like this 48 question version. I just hope they forget about my buddy...I am really concerned he is gonna do something to get into really big trouble. Usually if the Goverment leaves him alone...he pays his taxes does what he is supposed to do. Mess with him...he's goes extreme.

    US Census

As many of you know the news has been reporting that the 2010 census will be arriving sometime in March or was it May of this year. They said it would be 10 questions and encouraged folks to fill it out and get it back to them ASAP. Well a buddy of mine got a census survey the other day. It is 48 question...supposed to take you 38 minutes to fill it out. With some of the questions they ask I doubt you could fill it out in 2 days due to the research require to give correct answers. I looked it over and could not believe all the stuff that is on there. I think there is a post from Jan of last year where somebody here got one seems just like it. First you have to list iformation about every one who lives in the household. Race Sex date of birth...no real problems there Then they get into a lot of stuff that is really none of their business. Describe your house...housetrailer, apartment etc. How many rooms is in it...when was it built, do you have running water, flush toliet, stove, refrigerator? How much land is it sitting on? How much agriculture products did you raise on that land? how do you heat your house...what did it cost last month. How much is you monthly payment? How much is your taxes? How much is your insurance? Do you have health insurance? who is it with? When did you get married? how long have you been married...how many times have you been married? Have you had a baby in the last 12 months? Are you a grandparent taking care of grandchildren? Do you go to school? Where - address? Did you work last week? How may hours? How much did you make? Where did you work last week? Address? What kind of a compay do you work for? What are your duties at work? What time did you leave home for work? How did you get to work? How many cars, trucks 1 ton and under do you own? How many minutes did it take you to get to work? Income from work? Income from self employement, Interest, dividends? Total income from the last 12 months? And they will fine you $5000 dollars for not filling this out. But they will fine you less if you lie on it. My buddy is buying more guns and is about the declare war on the US goverment. They have mailed 2 surveys and 3 letters to him. Next step they going to contact him by phone and if they do not get the results they want they are coming to his house. I saw the letter. I think they are getting a little bit too Bold with this. There is gonna be trouble...just watch the news you will hear about it I am sure.
  21. It really takes some time to get used to them. I usually wear the smallest frame glasses I can find so the most magnification is right at the bottom of the lense. When I first got them...It was strange to walk around...driving was another issue all together. You will adjust to them and really like them in the end.
  22. When I installed mine...the throttle was sticking just a little when you turned all the way to the lock. That was unacceptable to me. I think I re-routed that throttle cable about a dozen times and found that sweet spot where there was no sticking or dragging at all. All stock cables still on my bike. If you they drag a little keep working at it...you can save that cash you would spend on the new cables for safety chrome or gas for big trips. I am very satisfied with the Barons risers both in comfort and functionallity of the cables. You are right Barons are more of a satin finish That is a good price on a set of risers. Here is a photo of mine installed.
  23. Here is some advice on Ebay and Paypal. Someone hacked my Ebay account once and actually had 9 used cars in my name up for sale. Ebay caught it and resolved it really quickly. My password for ebay was not just your everyday password, so I was surprized when they hacked into it. IT was a combination of letters and numbers that was not related to my address, phone number, ID or anything. Actually it was the date and month in hexadecimal that the password was created. I signed up for one of those Paypal security keys for $5 bucks. Now if they will have to have my password plus a six digit number that changes every minute. It is very secure. A lot of people give Paypal a bad rap. If you use a credit card on paypal you have 2 layers of security one from paypal and one from the credit card company. I have had instances where Paypal got my money back when something was not deleivered. Plus when you shop on line...you do not have to reveal you credit card number to all those websites you by stuff from. I do not think it is a good idea to tie your bank account to Paypal. In fact I do not want nothing attached to my bank account. I have a separate account with very little money in it that I use for direct deposit of my paycheck and IRS tax returns and internet banking. I transfer money into this account as I need it and only the ammount I need. My other money is in other accounts. Becareful out there...there are a lot of scams going on all the time. Need proof, just look at the Global Warming Scam.
  24. WHAT? I tell you what... You pay mine and I will pay yours... Mine is $431 a year. I would say you should be very thankful.
  25. You know you said it yourself...most all venture speedos are off and so is the odometer. There is a fix...a properly set speedohealer can fix either but in my experience not both odometer and speedo. One will be a little off. This may help your calculations some. You may be doing better than you think. Also there is a thread going now about setting the fuel air screw to improve mileage...I am still thinking about that one. Enjoy the bike...
