  1. :sign yeah that:What he said. I was involve in a Coast Guard inspection and the inspector requested I pulled out a fuse from the general alarm system, He looked at it and proceeded to write me up because I had a 125V 5 amp fuse in a 24VCD system. We argued and argued about this. The inspector won over and still wrote us up cause his little book said the fuses should be 32VDC fuses. We had to go to New Orleans before a Coast Guard board to argue our point and finally after a 1/2 day discussion with engineers and the Coast Gaurd, got the fine resended. So you are good on the higher voltage fuses. Actually the 125 V is a better fuse than the lower voltage fuse.
  2. I work in the industry. This is a disaster. I HATE it happened more than anyone. I am very sadden by the loss the folks that died and thier families. They may never get closure cause in reality they may never find the bodies of the missing. I am hoping the damage from the spill will be light as possible to the enviroment. No one in this industry wants to disaster like this to happen. We do all we can to prevent it. Our companies spend millions and millions of dollars in spill prevention and pays big money also for contengency crews to stand-by in event this does happen. That is where all these oil booms came from and were on site immediately. Money is no object to prevent this from happening. The oil companies empoyees all have kids and do not want to ruin the enviroment for future generations, although that is not what most think. It is seems they had equipment that is tested regularly fail. This equipment failure caused all this to happen. It is not like you can swim down 5000 feet to fix it. You might as well be working on the Moon. It is going to take a while to get a handle on this leak. You would not believe the safety proceedures in place daily on one of these operations. Sometimes it takes 3-4 hours to do all the safety processes before you can start work. This is a dangerous industry. The press is spewing a lot of mistruth about the situation. They find the worst sistuations they can and report on it. I wish they would at least stop verify and report the facts and stop the stipulation. The weather last week and weekend did not help things at all. With the winds and seas we had, the sheens were rolling over the oil booms making them useless. The seas were washing the entire booms up on the beach along with the oil. Now that the goverment is on sean...now there is more kaos than you can imagine. Different departments of the goverment barking orders that contradict what the first one said. BP is trying to please the goverment agencies but doing everything possible to contain and clean this up. Most of the goverment agencies on site do not know BEANS about oil spills or clean up operations. Most of them are hindering the operation more than they are helping due to thier ignorance. BP is responsible and trying to take care of it. If the goverment would help instead of trying to run the show...I think all would go a lot quicker and smoother. 1 outfit needs to be incharge and direct the entire operations. Lots will be impacted by this...fishermen with possilble decrease catches and lost revenue, tourism dollars, wild life of all kinds, plants, and of course we can expect more regulations from Uncle Sam, some probably worth wild and some sinceless I am sure. One more thing...oil companes do not set prices on oil or gasoline. It is traded on the market and the market sets the prices. Just like PVC, and copper for example. The markets react to incidents like spills or WAR in the middle east. If it is not profitable to produce they will not bother spend all that money to drill or produce the oil. Why would you sell your Venture for $5000 if the market was bringing $10000 for it?
  3. You can do it with only a credit card. I have a discover card on mine and they ask and want me to let them link to my bank account everytime I use it. I have been using it to the credit card for about 7 years. This way I have 2 layers of protection...one with paypal and one from Discover. I have noticed they limit the amount I can spend on paypal but it resets every year. Right I have a limit of over $9000 and I have never exceeded any limit on Paypal. Don't let them BS you. Also I have one of those Paypal Security Keys that I carry with me...it has a 6 digit number that changes every minute that I have to use to logg into paypal and Ebay. My Ebay account got hacked once and a guy had 9 used cars on there under my id. Ebay caught it and recommend the Security Key. My password was not something common...that most folks could figure out. It was not a words, names or date associated with me or my family, it had punctuation and some other charcters and it was over 8 digits...so I have yet to figure out how that happend. By most standards it would pass...even at work that requires us to change it every 30 days.
  4. I heard that company was gonna decrease production of thier bikes so folks would have to get on a waiting list to buy one...then they would get sticker price plus what ever they wanted to ask for them. Like they did several years ago. If I remember right...a used bike sometimes brought more than a new one...cause you could get the used one without haveing to wait 6 months to a year for it. So you folks who have them now...get ready to get top price for them. Not me...
  5. Why don't you sell me that bike while it is still a motocycle...before it goes up in flames with that foil wrapped fuse in there. Good greif man...take that out of there.
  6. I am afraid they are going to end the water cooled V4 real soon. I would bet the Venture is gonna turn into a Strato Liner Deluxe with a rear Trunk and more stuff on it. Of course the price is gonna go through the roof. I do not think the Strato liner V Twin is a bad bike, I just know the V4 water cooled engine is solid as can be. That V twin I think they already use it is several models also so it is probably a good one also. I think they are ashamed to say thier top touring bike is only a 1298 CC engine...and fail to say how many horses it has. That new Vmax engine sure would make a nice tourer, but we can only hope what their plans are to be for the next upgrade. So far...It looks like they are going the wrong way in my mind. Fix the problems with the current Venture...engine/clutch noise, fuel inject it, remove the casssett and add the V-boost like the old Vmax has and I think they would sell all they could make. Talk about a running Son of a gun.
  7. I need to try that on the next crack head I encounter.
  8. WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER...only use the firearm where nothing else will work. Walk away if you can. I know it is hard with some folks acting stupid and really testing you. Never resort to the deadly weapon in anger. If you carry a weapon you need to be in control of yourself and your emotions at all times. Most of the time you probably should never use it to defend property (Property = wallet, wheels on your car, or bike) unless it is inside your home. Inside the home is a little different. Most states do not require you to retreat from your home if someone is threating your life. In some states you have the responsiblity to retreat on the street and in your home. Know the laws of your state or the state you are in at the time...hopefully you have training that taught you the laws before you start carring a deadly weapon. You need to know what you can and cannot do. Is it worth paying a lawyer thousands and thousands of dollars to keep your butt out of jail when your life or the life of your loved ones may not have actually been in danger, cause you cannot totally convince a jury of your peers that you were about to loose your life. You need to make sure your opponent has the ability, means and intentions to cause you or a loved one deadly harm. Meet force with equal force. A black eye or knocked out teeth is not deadly force unless you are of the weaker sex (woman) or there are multiple bad guys or he is really really big and you are an old man maybe with a cane. A guy in a wheel chair with a baseball bat may have the intent and means but he does not have the abilty...you can walk away from him to avoid the danger. Masaad Ayoob used (or may still do) to carry a book of matches with a $5 bill wrapped around it to toss to the bad guys he encountered and tell them to go buy them selves a drink, hoping they would go on thier way rather than having to kill them cause they were robbing or about to try to mug him. This set him up in the courts that he tried to pay them to leave. With the judges sitting on the bench now days and the DA's that are in office plus what you could get as a jury...you need make sure you are justified in the use of deadly force. If you pull out a deadly weapon (knife or gun sometimes a beer bottle), becareful...you could be charged with assault with a deadly weapon (according to how the witnesses interpret your intent) and go to jail a few years for that...even if it was just to scare the guy or make him go away. In a standard murder defense, the state has to prove the elements of the crime to the standards of "Beyond a reasonable doubt" and it is the defense's job to descredit the prosecution and the witnesses it presents. But in a true self defense case, the burden of proof shifts to the defendant to prove that your actions were that of a reasonable and prudent person and your proof must meet the standards of a "preponderance of evidence"...You need evidence you acted reasonable...simular to a civil case. In some states you could also be sued in civil court for damages costing you millions of dollars if you are convicted or not. Mississippi law says if you are cleared of all crimes in the incident then they cannot sue you in civil court. Do not be a hero. Do not get involved with disputes that you do not know all the facts of or are not your fights. If you see a guy beating the snot out of a woman on the side of the road...do not get involved or pull your gun to break it up. (I know this is a hard one for us guys) You do not know all the facts..that could be a plain clothes officer arresting a conviced fellon/mulitple murderer. You do not know the facts of what is going on...Call 911 and be a good witness. If you fire that weapon you are pretty much garanteed to go to jail, for a little while at least. It is gonna cost you lawyer fees...make sure it is worth it. It will be hard for me to hand over my wallet, even if it has no cash in it, to anybody and not sure I could do it without causing much discomfort to the robber, but if he had a knife or a gun, I am sure I would feel my life was in danger and probably use my weapon to stop what is going on very quickly. I then would have a big lawyer bill to deal with and the stress of worrying if I was going to jail for a long time. You have to think real hard about what you will do before it happens. We can all just hope and pray we never ever have to use deadly force, but like a spare tire or a fire extenguisher...it will be there if we need it as a last resort to save our lives. Be careful how you respond. Note: Massad Ayoob is a well know police officer, author of many books on self defense, expert witness for many self defense court cases and one of the best firearms instructors in the country. Google his name...read some of his books.
  9. Great looking scoot. I think you will very much like that Startoliner. I hope you have the time to get many enjoyable miles on it. I just love that Strato liner Deluxe they came out with this year. My boy wants a new bike for Graduation......Either a RAIDER or a Strato Liner Deluxe. I am pushing hard for the Strato liner Deluxe, even though it is more expensive. That way I can steal it once in a while to make sure it is running OK for him.
  10. Plus 1 on Crossbeedholsters... Lifetime warranty...if it breaks or something goes wrong...they fix it or replace it...one week trail period. Big guns are no problem...heavy guns are no problem. Carrying a weapon may not be comfortable...but it is comforting. Also 2nd what Beer said. Bad guy is not gonna wait till you go get your weapon. Training is a must, it also helps to learn how and what you can and can not do legally.
  11. I have used Jake Wilson several times...infact I used thier sister site Rocky Mountain ATV for years when we raced dirt bikes. Both sites have great service with free shipping over $99 and most of the time have great prices...but as always you need to shop all the sites to make sure you are getting a good deal. I got a new rear E3 in the shop now from them waiting to get a little more out of the current E3 before I swap it out. I have never used the dynabeads. Good theroy but not sure about them just yet. They may not work on the Midnight bikes, since they are so fast.
  12. I have one that would make somebody a great Toy Hauler. I have a 2007 30 foot KZ Sportman with a 13 foot separate cargo bay. I did not like hauling those stinky Dirt bikes in my bed room. Has 2 full size beds and a couch that folds out into a bed. Onan built in with a 29 (I think) gallon gas tank, 110 gallons of fresh water. Chrome wheels, rubber deck on the cargo bay, with diamond plate in the cargo bay. Tie downs in the floor with Etrac. It has gas stove and oven. Microwave oven frige. Dual 12 vdc batteries, 14 gallons of storage for compressed air. Shower-tub...plenty of room in the back for bikes, places to hang your gear, plus cabinets to store your extra stuff. No carpet to get dirty..even the couch is vinlyn. It is a bumper pull unit. We ordered it just like we wanted. It is set up to run for 3 days with no hook ups...we would carry it to the race track and stay 3 days self contained. I sure would like to move it out of my yard. My boy quit racing and it is just sitting in my yard now...waiting for a new owner to come fetch it. I do not have current photos right now but will probably post it on the classifed section soon as I can wash it and get them taken. Here is some pictures when I picked it up new.
  13. If it don't work for me today...here is the link [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTs6a0ORdQU&feature=player_embedded]YouTube- The Warrior Song[/ame]
  14. Man...that looks great, Beautiful paint job...very well done. ...And I hate green on anything. Maybe I need to rethink the color green. I lost my love for Green in the military, I was sick of those green fatigues.
  15. I just got back from the NAPA store wsa gonna purchase a set to install and they say the H7616 is a 50 watt 70,000 CP sealed beam lamp. I looked at it on their parts computer...and double checked it on the web. 50 WATTS...orginal is 35 watts...head light is 65/55 (I think) http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=LMPH7616_0214018613 I am afraid that might be too much extra load on my charging system... Have you had any problems with the bigger wattage lamps?
  16. I did not have much luck with these... First set one lense broke before I got to ride it...the other one the bulb went out and fogged up the lense. 2nd set...both fogged up and one bulb is out and the other is real dim. I now know why they were only $20 set. They look good as long as you do not tighten them up very much and do not wash the bike and do not turn them on. They are coming off today....somebody wants them...pay the shipping and I will send them to you.
  17. What do I do with hood? IT is according to how bad it is raining. If it is bad...wear it under the helmet...light rain...tuck it in the jacket. It is not detachable.
  18. We have 2 sets of the LL beam Gortex gear we use for the bike. This stuff is the storm proof and packable. It works...not to hot after the rain and easy on and off on the side of the road...well nothing is easy on the side of the road but it is not bad to get into. It is the stow-away Gortex. It is pricey but I did not want to get soaked while riding. LL beam stuff has always been top notch and worth the money IMHO. We looked at everything under the sun before buying this stuff. Finally gave up and paid the cash for this rain gear. I am very satisfied with it. LL Beam test all their stuff. We have been through several storms some as long a 4 hours in the rain, the only thing that got wet was our faces. IT is expensive, but I do not think you will need to buy anymore rain gear if you have this stuff. I think it is about $150 for the coat and little less for the pants.
  19. I guess if you were like the majority of the folks that ride around on low of flat tires...it would be the thing to have. Them folks need all the help they can to keep the tires with air in them. I check my tires religiously on all my vehicles. I got 92,000 miles out of a set of tires on my VW. I do not use nitrogen. I know some folks that own a fleets of trucks say they have saved money by putting this in their tires. Again...if you check your tires regularly...you know you have a low tire or slight leak before you get to work or out on the road. I want to know that before I leave the house.
  20. WE use a Gortex set from LL beam. They are made for extreme weather and made to pack. Pants and jacket rolls up into a 4" by 8" roll. They have zippers and velcro closures on the legs and sleeves. Garanteed to keep you dry in a storm. We have used them a few times...they work. Only thing that gets wet is your face. They are expensive...but I did not want to get soaked on a trip.
  21. He is supposed to be building some water bottle holders for the bars near the saddle bags...I talked to him about design and what kinda of bottle I wanted to use, plus I wanted a small pouch in each side also. Email stopped...called a few times, no answer. This was about a year ago. I wanted something similar to the items you see on JC Whitney. I ordered some of them cause the girl said they would fit a RSV...but they did not...they were for a Harley, so I sent them back. I guess I did not need any water bottle holders...
  22. Over 10700 miles so far on my E3's...still holding up good. Run 40 PSI in the rear an 36 in the front.
  23. Jake Wilson 13 oz $15.99 http://www.jakewilson.com/productDetail.do?navTitle=Motorcycle+Chemicals&webCatId=49&navType=type&webTypeId=371&prodFamilyId=23128&listingId=&sizeAttr=5653 Pretty good deals on the Dunlop E3's also
  24. You want mine so you will have a pair just alike?
  25. I got one I will give you...the thing went crazy and I could not calibrate it...so I order me one of them good ones...for about the same price I paid for the crazy one.
