  1. I think if I was young, and on a crotch rocket, I'd have to pop a wheelie in front of them just so they'd try to catch me. LOL:rotf:
  2. I used to have a 74 GMC Motorhome. You old timers may remember them....they had the dual rear wheels with air suspension and were front wheel drive. Whenever I'd go into an Autozone, Advance, O'rileys, or wherever, and ask for parts they'd always try to sell me GMC van or truck parts. When I'd explain it had an Oldsmobile driveline and was front wheel drive they wouldn't believe me....I've been told more than once that I'd better "double-check that".....lol I'd end up having them look up the parts for a 74 Toranado with the tow package.....same driveline. Makes you wonder what these guys today would do without the computers..
  3. So far it seems that the consensus is to avoid it from one week before to one week after the rally. Different folks have mixed feelings about the Motorhome. I'd love to make it an extended affair, but I only get one week paid vacation, and I usually go somewhere with the wife for that week. I'll see what my friends think after reading this thread. Thanks again everyone for the valuable input.
  4. That's another issue that could be a bit of a problem with riding long distances. The guy who called rides a Suzy Volusia 800, and another friend rides a Yammy V Star 650. They don't have windshields or monster motors for extended highway travel. Another friend who rode up to the North PA mountains with us last year has an old Harley (82) that was a project bike that he kinda went over, but not too thoroughly, ending up in the need to leave the Harley at the cabin, and I had to ride him bi-otch on the back of my Venture, and just to add insult to injury I taped the sign to the back of my bike. I wouldn't have done him like that, but he was big time into the "If it ain't a Harley it ain't s**t attitude, so I had to make him pay.
  5. This is just the kinda good stuff I was hopin' for......Thanks, and keep it comin'.
  6. One of my buddies called me this morning and says he wants to go to Sturgis this year. He says he want's us to take my motorhome, with the bikes in tow up to the area, and either stay at a nearby campground or at Sturgis itself. (I don't know that that's even an option) We'd be coming from Ohio, me in Central, and my friends in NE Ohio. I've nothing against the idea, and while I get that you're supposed to actually RIDE to Sturgis,......the motorhome's pretty comfortable, and I think it'd be quicker. I think I'd like to ride there, but with us all in our early 50s, it'd be tough to get away from work for as long as it'd take to have an enjoyable trip. In any case, I've always wanted to go to the area, to check out the sights on the bike, but don't know that it'd be a good idea to go during the rally. I'm betting it's pretty crazy, and I'm not a big fan of crowds. I'm also figuring that it wouldn't be much fun riding to see the sights while dealing with all the traffic. I'd like to hear from those who've been there during the rally or not....what are your thoughts....to go or not to go, and if so...during the rally or during an off time...???

  8. If she "runs fine"....why are you removing the carbs???? Run some Seafoam through them and you'll be fine. Don't go lookin' fer trouble that's not there.....you may create some new trouble in the process.
  9. Just sent them a message letting them know that I'll be participating in the boycott. I've bought a lotta stuff from them over the years.
  10. Hey, you're only human. I get spanked all the time. I always figure the guys who think they know it all are dangerous. I rarely give their opinion much weight. We all do one thing well....some of us do a few, or even several things well, but no one can do it everything well and even a competent, full time bike mechanic will have issues from time to time. Judging from your post, you're waaayyy more capable than most guys here.....certainly more able than me. Glad you got your issue resolved.
  11. If I won the lottery, I'd buy myself a new ridin' mower........one of those big fancy jobs......
  12. I quit deer hunting about 10 years ago. I have a cabin in North Central Pennsylvania where I started hunting in '77, when there were deer EVERYWHERE. It was a lotta fun back then. It wasn't a matter of whether you got a deer, but how long you'd wait hopin' for a big-un. Back then big-uns weren't that common. Lots of 6 points and down. Then, in their infinite wisdom the Game Commission started handing out doe permits en masse. It was cool for a while, everyone had meat on the pole, but we didn't realize what we were doing to the deer heard, until, one season we looked around, and there were no more deer. I saw one buck up there two years ago,....he looked lost. Now there's barely any deer in these pristine Pennsylvania woods, and I'm so happy to see one that the last thing I want to do is kill it. The Game Commission is still "managing" the doe herd by increasing the doe permits this year????? They appear to want to kill the last few left standing in the county where I used to hunt.....I still go up, but now I just hunt with a camera. Not much to take pics of though....
  13. Wow...glad you didn't get laid up from that. The irony is that it happened right in front of a Lawyers billboard asking if you've been injured.
  14. Payment sent. Thanks:cool10:
  15. I don't think too many folks realize it, but there's more than just two candidates running for potus.
  16. I'm in for one. I can do Paypal, send a check or money order, or even drive up and hand ya the cash.
  17. Thanks everyone for the great input. I'm not struggling right now (rare) so I'll go ahead and spring for the Michelins. The wife usually drives the car and I'd like her to have every advantage......she does the cookin'. lol:cool10:
  18. Need to get new tires for the cage (08 Taurus) Went to Sams Club, where I can get BF Goodrich Touring T/A tires for a little over $100 each, ....more like $140 each installed and out the door. Michelin Defender XT tires would be a little over $155 each, plus the add on charges, which I didn't get a quote on, but should take the price to around $190 each installed and out the door. Are Michelin's worth the extra two bills for the set? This car (great car) has 120 k miles on it, so this will probably be the last set of tires I'll put on it. I anticipate this Taurus will easily run 200K, but at that point I'll probably want to get something a bit fresher. So, the question is: are Michelins really that special?
  19. I've had the same issue since I've owned my first gen. Has NEVER failed to start for me though. I was planning on doing a 4 brush starter upgrade this Winter. I have an 87, and I've read that the second gen starters are 4 brush and will work. Is this true across the board, or are there specific years I should look for..... I'll start cruising e-bay soon as I know what will bolt right in and work the way it's supposed to. Thanks.
  20. I had a friend on a Harley with loud pipes who pulled up next to me at a light and laughed and said "geez, is that thing even running"?..... That was the last thing that was said before I SMOKED him. I like the idea that my comfortable, quiet bike performs so well. I'll keep it the way it is.
  21. Remember those old Kawasaki bikes...was it an H3 ? 750cc three cylinder two stroke. Those were FAST bikes:backinmyday:
  22. If they don't wanna move the signs, they should have crosswalks and crossing guards.
  23. Wow !!! Now that's a rig.
  24. Yeah....what he said..... Happy Birthday. Hope it's a good one.
