  1. Wishing you good luck and a speedy recovery.
  2. Have fun,....ride safe my friend.
  3. We'll be going back next year. We'd love to have some Venture riders join us. I'm just sayin'
  4. That's going a bit too far. That suv could go a long way before those bikes could stop it. The driver had the right to do whatever was necessary to protect his family and himself. That would include crunching as many bikes as he had to, and may even require going over people if he had no other choice. Having said that, he would not have the right to act out of anger, or with wreckless disregard for the property or lives of others. He would only be able to do what he could to keep himself and family from being harmed / killed.
  5. I don't care what started it. There's no excuse for such behavior from those punks. I think the suv driver would've been justified to throw it in reverse and back over a few more bikes, or do whatever it took to keep them away as long as possible by continuing to move. A mob of Billy Bad Ass punks who felt brave in their numbers. Sickening.
  6. They finally posted the youtube video of the Cigar Dash. This is the first time I've seen it. Considering I'd been drinkin' all day, ...from lunchtime up to about a half hour before the dash (8:30) I didn't do too bad. They took me from outside, put a shirt over my head, then led me into the temperature / humidity controlled warehouse. It was actually pretty cool in there, compared to outside. In any case, they led me in, with the shirt over my head, so I had no idea what to expect when they took the shirt away. Anyhoo.....this is how it went. A guy walked into a Honda cycle dealership just to browse. Suddenly he spotted the most beautiful Goldwing that he had ever seen and walked over to inspect it. As he bent forward to feel the fine wide vinyl seat, an unexpected fart escaped him. Embarrassed, he anxiously looked around to see if anyone had noticed and hoped a sales person didn't pop up right now. But, as he turned back, there, standing next to him, is a salesman. With a pleasant smile he greeted him, "Good day, sir. How may we help you today?" Trying to maintain an air of sophistication and acting as though nothing had happened, he smiles back and asked, "Sir, what is the price of this Goldwing?" Still smiling, he replied, "Sir, I'm very sorry to say that if you farted just by touching it, you are going to ***** when you hear the price!

I doubt anyone would be upset if the joke was about GW. I'm just sayin'.
  9. Good deal. It's a big relief to finally sell something that needs to go. When I sold my old GMC Motorhome, I was practically giggling as I watched it drive away. Glad it worked out for ya.
  10. I never knew the fund existed. I just sent five smackers.
  11. Well, I went ahead and did it. I bought an '06 Black Cherry Second Gen. I must say, it's an absolutely gorgeous bike, and the Black Cherry / Chrome look has always been my favorite. I'm planning on keeping my 87 as well, since I do love that bike, and although I've only put 80 miles on the second gen, my first impressions are: I like that the first gen has a tach/ temp/ voltage gauge(s) and shift position indicator. I LOVE the performance of the first gen. Although it's kinda apples and oranges, the first gen has a much sportier feel. I LOVE the look of the second gen. I think the brakes are better. Not nearly as powerful as Ol' Blue, but no slouch either. I like that it's lower, and thus easier to mount / dismount. I like the pillow style seat. Very comfortable. I like the floorboards for touring, although the heel / toe shifter takes a bit of getting used to. As of yet I've not noticed much difference with the fork mounted fairing, although it steers a bit heavier. Haven't found low speed handling to be an issue. Haven't heard any sign of the whine I've read so much about. I think I'll be torn between the bikes. Planning on Black Cherry for two up riding with the wife, and Ol' Blue for solo riding, when riding with my friends so I can be sure to maintain the status of fastest bike. lol... What I think it comes down to is that they're both fantastic bikes.
  12. Buddy of mine's been through it at age 40, and now at 50, he's back on top and doing better than ever. Hang in there, work hard and don't do anything stupid, and you'll be OK....just have to get through the hard times. If ya think about it, it's the hard times that make us who we are. Best of luck to ya.
  13. You're not putting them in upside down are you...??? Most seals are directional. I'm certainly no guru on the subject, but when I replaced them on my 87, once I got the right seals, it was a pretty cut and dried install, with no issues, and I do have a small nick in one of the tubes, but it hasn't been a problem. Hope ya get it resolved.
  14. Hey....that's only about 15 miles from me. What exactly is it ?
  15. LOL I don't get the whole Miley Cyrus thing.....the gal does nuthin' for me.
  16. I was hoping to be able to use greenboard, because it's cheap and I like the finished look, plus I wouldn't have to worry about trimming the seams. As far as the corrosive gases, I use combustion blowers from hvac equipment. They can take the corrosive aspects, but the moisture kills them after about 5 years. Fortunately, I have an endless supply. The cool thing is that they're 230 volt, but when I run them at 120 volt, they run slow and quiet, and draw just enough to remove the "stinky", but not fast enough to be noisy or draw too much cold air into the loo in Wintertime. As a side note....my cabin is on the grounds of an old dynamite factory. The ruins are evident everywhere,...on the flats, and even on the sides of the mountains. The area was chosen because the high humidity lessened the likelyhood of accidents. Looks like there were lots of small structures. The last of the buildings were torn down in '57. That aside, it's a picturesque area. You can drink from the streams worry free. It's near Sinnemahoning, PA, off of Wykoff run rd.
  17. Here's the situation: I'm building a new outhouse at the family cabin in North Central PA. The old outhouse has been there for 25 years, and has attracted enough ants / bees that it's time to tear it down and put up a new one. It sits atop a 750 gallon concrete holding tank. I put in a small exhaust fan that draws through the poo hole and exhausts out the vent, so it's actually an odor free experience when used. Here's the question. If I drywall the new outhouse with greenboard, will I have issues with the drywall breaking down over time, ....considering it's always quite humid up there, and in the Winter, we only heat the outhouse when we're there. I'm not sure how the extended cold periods in the Winter, and the high humidity year round will affect the drywall.
  18. Is there a place to park a motor home? Myself, the wife and a couple of friends may be able to make it if we have a convenient "home base mothership".
  19. Voted Mostest Cutest.
  20. My cousin has had a POS 81 Harley for a few years now, and after a lot of heartbreak and $$$, has finally taken my advise to sell it. I've been telling him what a great, and affordable bike my first gen is and that he should get rid of the Harley and get a Venture. I told him I'd find him one, just let me know when he's ready. Well, he went to a dealer and found an 87 Aspencade that he traded straight up for the Harley. No doubt the Honda is a fine bike,....but it's not a Venture. At least he moved in the right direction. The Aspencade he got is Champagne colored.....I'll have great fun telling him his bike is PINK.....lol The saga continues, but at least I'll be comfortable that the Goldwing will get him to where he wants to go and back home again.
  21. How in the heck could they not have caught that...???? Lol... Terrible situation, but that's funny.
  22. I'm kinda hit and miss when it comes to seatbelts, but the point of my comment is that to "check" if you're wearing seatbelts is not a sufficient reason to be pulled over. If you're in a state where seatbelt laws are a primary law, you can certainly be pulled over and ticketed for an observed violation, but being pulled over simply to "check" don't cut it. If you were initially stopped for speeding and he let ya go,.....that makes more sense.
  23. .....He pulled you over to "check if you were wearing your seatbelts"...??? OH, Hell No.... A man went looking for America and couldn't find it anywhere.
  24. Got a title transferred to my name today. Took about 15 minutes from the time I hit the door on the way in, 'till I hit the door on the way out. I picked up a Honda CT110,...cool little trail bike.
