Is Centers for Disease Control trying to reduce motorcycle use?
uncledj replied to djh3's topic in Watering Hole
Gubment just wants to protect us. -
My niece got a 6 point with a crossbow. (Ohio) I haven't hunted in 10 years, but I still go up the huntin' cabin with the guys. I usually take a camera, and hunt with it. I thought I got some great pics of a ten pointer until I tried to view them, finding that they didn't come out. Didn't format the card or sumthin' As I've aged, I lost my desire to kill deer. I like to see them too much, and there's too few of them left where I hunt.

With the classic styling of the second gens, they look a lot like Harleys, which has prompted the slang that calls all similarly styled bikes "Hardleys". Perhaps we should call the site Hardleyriders.com. LOL:rotf:

A profound music video. Very popular with today's youth, asking the important question.....What does the fox say??? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jofNR_WkoCE]Ylvis - The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?) [Official music video HD] - YouTube[/ame]

I've been here all along. Ridin' season is over for a lot of us, so not too many bike related issues to discuss, plus we're getting into the busy holiday season. I've noticed the same thing happening in years past. I wouldn't be too worried, but I'll try to get a lil' more involved.

Why We Ride -- VR Movie Night -- Columbus Ohio
uncledj replied to dave_wells's topic in Watering Hole
I'd sure like to join ya, but that's first day of Buck season. I'll be up at the cabin in North Central PA until Tuesday night. I don't hunt anymore, but I've been there every year for the last 37 years and don't want to break the tradition. Same group of guys goes up every year. At least those that are still with us. -
If I can get it in Pennsylvania, I'll pick some up when I head up that-a-way for Buck Season, right after Thanksgiving. Any ideas on where to pick it up in North West / North Central PA? Generally my trek to Camp takes me from Youngstown, (to pick up my Dad....91....he doesn't hunt anymore, but likes to get together with the guys)...anyhoo...as I said....From Youngstown to Dubois along 80 then North East to Sinnemahoning.

Have you added the Harley taillights?
uncledj replied to M61A1MECH's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Your Venture is rejecting the Harley parts. Take two ounces of Seafoam and call me in the morning. -
Travelling down a country road.....enjoying the sights side to side.....doin' about 50mph......crested a small hill and went instantly from paved road to newly laid, deep, loose gravel......had a puckered butt until I got it down to about 10mph. That stuff was so loose I couldn't safely go any faster. Rode it out for the next 3 miles until I got back to paved road. I don't care for gravel, but I don't usually shy away from it, but this stuff was LOOSE !!!

I've always been a Honda guy, but started liking Yamaha back in my hill climbing days when I had a Yamaha TT500, which I liked because they had superior clutches, which is pretty important on a dirt bike. Other than that I've stuck with Honda until I got into the heavier street bikes, which, after some research led me to the Venture, and there's been no looking back. Having said that, it's hard to say anything bad about a Honda. .....other than they can be a pain to start when cold.

The slingshot post made me think of this old video. A demonstration of American Ingenuity. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8whVxTj7iQ]Funny Homemade Fireworks (ORIGINIAL) - YouTube[/ame]

I feel guilty for laughing, but that was funny. Hope he's OK.

Now that guy's just plain nuts. Looks like it'd be a lotta fun though. Maybe if I were about 35 years younger.

I have a hard time feeling bad for the perp. He played a dangerous game and lost. The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

Remember, these laws are implemented by YOUR government for YOUR protection. You should be thankful to have a ruling class that cares so much about your well being. We have a similarly caring gubment on this side of the pond.

All well and good, but I gotta say, by the looks of the rubber seals and parts, if it's a 96 they musta' used some poor quality rubber. I have a Ford 800 tractor / backhoe, which, by serial # I can tell was made in '57 and some of the original rubber parts on it look to be in better shape than the seals around the pushrod tubes on this trike. The numbers don't lie, and I believe what the experts say, but, knowing nothing about these machines....it looks a LOT older than a '96.

NFL to not allow armed off duty officers at games
uncledj replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Watering Hole
Must've had too many incidents of off duty officers shooting people at football games. I'm glad they took action to prevent any future such incidents. -
The elk just wanted to see if he could outrun the Harley. Surprisingly, the Harley was faster. Musta' had some mods.

Thoughts and prayers going your way. Don't worry too much about the stint, from what I understand it's a fairly routine procedure these days. My brother had a similar situation. Flue like symptoms they couldn't figure out until they gave him a stress test. They took him from the test directly to the operating room and put a stint in the "widomaker". (98% blocked) That was on a Thursday, and he was back to work on Monday.

I stopped by and checked it out. From what I can see it is as described. Started on the first kick, and he was going to let me take it for a spin, but I didn't feel comfortable doing that, since I was not the prospective buyer. The rubber parts were cracked with age, but not enough to be a major problem yet. Oil seepage here and there, but no major leaks evident. No bad sounds coming from the engine other than maybe some valve train noise, which I'd expect from something that old. Only 306 miles on it. Seller weighs over 200 pounds and says he can get it up to 58 mph. It's licensed and street legal. There's some disagreement about the origins of this machine, but the seller was adamant about it, and gave a pretty detailed, and believable history. He says it's one of only three brought into the US, and, from the serial number, believes it was built in 1946. Seemed to me to be a good buy at $3500, but what do I know. In any case, I spoke to the prospective buyer (Vince) and told him what I could about it, so it's up to him from there. Whether he buys it or not, I enjoyed checking it out, and had a nice (and educational) conversation with the seller. In the interest of full disclosure, I also contacted my brother in law, who mostly collects and restores old Mack Trucks, but has an interest in things like this, and told him that if the sale didn't work out, he should check it out. Never did get a chance to drop my computer off. Still dealing with startup issues. My work here is done.
