  1. Just sayin: The last two times I tried to post an ad that may be of interest to someone, it wouldn't let me post it in the links to classifieds section. I got an error message saying that I'd exceeded the allowable # of tags allowed. Not sure what that even means. I guess I'll just have to quit tryin'. And what's up with the text that shows up when I add one of the smiles?
  2. For what it's worth. I bought a 2001 Damon Challenger 34' class A a few years back and am quite pleased with it. Plane Jane, no slides, two rooftop a/c units, 5kw generator, Triton V10 with a Ford Workhorse chassis. I was looking for an intro RV, since I don't have the free time to travel as much as I'd like, and was thinking that I'd like to learn the tricks so that when I retire I can buy one to travel the country with. Still gonna keep the house, but I'd like to stretch my legs a bit. All that being said, this basic RV has treated me well. I'm not sure how well it'd tow a car though. With a trailer with my bike on it, I was down to 55mph on some killer hills in PA on a trip back from Ocean City. Without the trailer, that little V10 keeps up the speed well. Don't remember ever falling below 70 on any hills if I didn't want to. Rolling on flat ground, keeping it at 65 I can get as much as 10mpg. Going through hill country towning a trailer, it's been as low as 7mpg. I do disagree with the cliche' that the happiest days are when you buy / sell it. I'm glad I bought mine, ....just wish I got to use it more. (Typically 3k miles a year) I'm sure you'll enjoy yours. Just be ready for a bit of a learning curve. Good luck, and good travels.
  3. Congratulations !!! You've worked hard an long to get here, so take the bull by the horns and do what ya gotta do to enjoy life.... My older brother retired late last September, and is in the final stages of getting his affairs in order to move back to the Florida Keys, where he lived in the late 70s and through the 80s. He's finding out that housing in Key Largo is pretty expensive, so he's planning on buying a place in the lower keys. He's going down next week to look at a couple of places and potentially make the deal. (He's actually been looking for over a year) He's THRILLED. I'm happy for him (and a little jealous), but will hate to have him move so far away. Probably won't get to see him much, but I'll have to try to make it down there every once in a while. Sigh.....
  4. Got a Garmin Zumo 665LM for the bike, ....a set of Frog Toggs for riding (Heavier that my other set).......A camera to mount on the bike.....a box of Sucker Punch cigars. (My favorite from last years Cigarnival)...Cologne, socks, The Breaking Bad DVD set...a coupla' books, and a bear hat.
  5. I've 3 days paid time off to use up, so I'm taking today, Friday and New years Eve off. I generally don't work holidays, nor do I get paid for them. And only one week vacation to boot, but I can't complain. I can take time off without pay whenever I want, (even on short notice) and make a decent buck.
  6. They're in 2 sheds and one garage, and some of them are covered and pretty well buried. Pics would be a problem, but all the running bikes have had pics posted on this site at one time or another.
  7. Ready to roll: O6 Black Cherry RSV 87 Venture Standard 85 Honda Nighthawk CB700SC 99 BMW F650 80 Honda CT110 Project Bikes: 82 Honda CB900 Custom 93 Suzi Katana 600 Quads: 2000 Honda Foreman 450ES 2003 Polaris Trail Boss 325 I really need to make some room in the stables.
  8. You can theme it however you like, but I think most folks are just interested in a get together. Some food, music, a fire, and maybe a little hair of the dog is always nice. I'm planning on coming, but am neutral to what the particulars are. See ya there !
  9. Uncle DJ is a nickname that a good friend gave me about 30 years ago that stuck. He claims the DJ stands for "Duking John" after a fist fight I was in, back when I was young and dumb. It kinda fits though, with my first two initials being JD, and I take good care of my friends......kinda like I was their uncle. It's also a shortened version of my Yahoo name, uncledjm14, which is my nickname, and favorite rifle.
  10. 06 RSV ,,,,Black Cherry....38,000 miles. $7500 and luvin' every minute of it........HEY !! that's a KISS song.
  11. Been a few years. Still have the equipment in the attic. I had pretty good luck with RCBS. If you do a lot of shooting, reloading is a great hobby. Saves you a lot of money, and you learn a lot about ballistics. I hear lead's getting pretty expensive though. The only advice I'd offer is to avoid loading everything to the max all the time. It's harder on the gun, shortens the life of the brass, and if you're loading pistol rounds, running lead bullets (no jacket) faster than 1000fps will lead up the barrel. I enjoyed shooting low/mid power rounds in my 44 mag. Shooting max loads in that beast is downright uncomfortable. Good luck, and good shooting!
  12. Cool Beans!!! The wife and I are gonna try to make it to the Int'l Rally this year. Hope to see you there!!!
  13. Now that guys not playin' with a full deck.
  14. It'd be cool if the po po had one of those EMP devices that could kill a bunch of the bikes at once. I'd love it.
  15. WOW !!! What a great post. Thanks for all you do. I / we DO appreciate it. Happy Thanksgiving to all, and like Don said,...we should take some time today to reflect on what we have to be thankful for.
  16. I've had 4 Yammy's in my life. A early 70s MX90 (junk) a late 70s TT500 (awesome hill climber) and now my 87 and 06 Ventures. As much as I love my last 3 Yammy's, it's hard to put down a Honda. I've had a bunch of Hondas, and I liked them all, although every Honda I've ever owned has been pretty cold blooded. (sometimes hard to start, and had to warm up before they'd run right) No doubt, Honda deserves a lotta respect.
  17. Where'd ya get it?
  18. This is out of Columbus, OH., but there's a half off offer for Pennsylvania campgrounds. http://wodc.columbus-deals.com/
  19. You're a true asset to this site, and seem a pretty decent fellow. Best wishes for a complete recovery. Prayers and good Karma being sent your way. Take care.
  20. Yeah, ....Lisa and I were already figuring on trying to set up something for next year. It's a beautiful area. The Willows Restaurant / Bar is just a couple of miles away,...Lotsa nice places to ride. We'll let ya know
  21. Jaycees is right.....you do clean up well...Love the hat, but I'd keep the bow-tie for "special" occasions only. Lookin' good my friend.
  22. Stopped by our cabin near Sinnemahoning PA on our way up to the WNY Mini Rally. Some of my family was there for the weekend, and my niece took a pic of Dad & I just before we continued on to the Rally. Dad at 91 (now 92) and I, the youngest of 6 at 51, (soon to be 52). Cabin in the background, and nieces fiance' (Elliott) with his back to the camera, looking up at the mountain behind the cabin. I thought it was a nice pic, so I figgered I oughta post it.
  23. I've heard that in those situations, it's best to wear loose fitting underwear. Hope this helps:backinmyday:
  24. What I'm really looking for is a camera that I can mount to the bike to record videos of the ride. Looks like gopro is the ticket, but wanted opinions in case there's something out there better suited to my RSV.
  25. It's a bunch of hooey. If you don't jump on the global warming bandwagon, you're called a knuckle dragging denier.
