Confucius say "Man who keep hand in pocket feel cocky all day".

Wow. Glad you're ok. Scary stuff in this day and age. When I'm confronted with the threat of attack, I generally stand in the corner, pee myself and suck my thumb while sobbing uncontrollably. That usually encourages them to let me be. Knowing a bit about your past, I'll bet he got more than he bargained for.

I'm with ya. I did 15 hours on the roof of a truckstop replacing 5 rooftop A/C units yesterday. People in the store complaining about it being too hot inside....I wanted to tell them ....."Get your A$$ on the roof for a while and see how ya like it up there". Couldn't leave until all 5 of the new units were up and running. Why they wanted to do a job like that in late July is a mystery to me. Still recovering from that job.

Did it a few years back and learnt a few things. You'll get burned out on the sales quicker than you think. There was more people and traffic than I expected. You may find a few great deals, but prices seem a bit higher. Harder to find those "great scores". Can't say that I'll never do it again, but it was as much a chore as it was fun. Everyone should do it at least once. Let us know how it goes.

LOL....reminds me....I had one that had gotten into the ceiling of the bedroom. A frame means not much attic, but once they get into the small space at the peak, they can travel throughout the house, on the other side of the drywall. Anyhoo, it was in the middle of the night, and I heard that little sucker scraping around in there and it was making me nuts. I got the bright idea to get the turkey seasoning injector, kinda like a big hypodermic needle, ...fill it with ammonia...and stick it through the ceiling drywall and spray it into that space, hoping to chase him outta there. The wife wakes up, with me standing on the bed, with this large hypodermic needle stuck through the ceiling and rotating it as I was spraying.....She says..."What the hell are you doing?" It took a bit to make her understand. Was kinda funny though. (Didn't work) I eventually ended up tearing out the entire ceiling,....blocking out the spots where I thought he may get in with metal lathe, then insulating and replacing the drywall. Went over the entire exterior with a fine tooth comb and blocked any potential entrances. That worked.

Thinkin' of ya. Sending good Karma your way. Hope things get better real quick .

Be advised....when they're that determined to get in, it may mean there's babies inside. Been there, done that with raccoons. Actually ripped off shingles and was tearing at the plywood to try to get onto the porch. Babies were up in the eaves and I didn't know it.

Sorry to hear of your / Eileens' troubles. Sure hope you keep on two wheels but who can blame ya if it's causing problems. My wife (Lisa) seems to enjoy our rides more than I do. I've always felt that long rides can be a bit of a chore, but that's outweighed by the wind therapy I get. I don't get to ride as much as I'd like, but I find that when I do, about 400 miles / 8 hrs is all I'm comfortable with. Any more than that, and I can't wait to get off the bike....and that's with my second gen, with pillowtop seats. Anyhoo, it was nice to see you guys at Daves' campout, even if it was just for a few hours. Never did get any service calls this weekend. That's ok,....got some stuff done around the house. BTW.....Your Midnight is the only bike my wife's ever said she liked more than my Black Cherry. lol....nice bike. Take care.

Absolutely, life gets in the way. You get 80 hrs vaca??? How'd ya swing that?....I get 40.... Went to MD, ...Planning on going to WNY....Gonna try to join some folks in Pataskala for a ride this weekend. When I retire I'll have more time....which reminds me, ...I'm runnin' late...gotta get to work.

Just a nickname a friend gave me 30 or so years ago. Uncle DJ = Dukin' John ......after a fight I was in. Uncle, I guess, 'cause I take care of my friends.

I saw this at Lowes' in Mt. Vernon, OH today. Cool to look at, but don't know that I'd wanna travel on it.

I never even heard 'em call the numbers. Musta' been up by the motorhome playin' cornhole. (And maybe drinkin' a little beer)

Ditto. Great people, great time. Thanks to Don for settin' this up, and to Eileen for being such a gracious hostess.

Just added another repair before maintenance day...

I have one from my 87 MKII that I pulled apart and welded back together a few years back. I replaced it, then cut it apart to see what was going on inside....pulled the perforated baffles out of it and welded the top back on. If my MKII will fit your MKI, you're welcome to it, with the condition that I either get it back when you've repaired yours, ...or gimme yours and I'll fix it when I get a chance and keep it. I'd like to have a spare to keep around. I live not too far from Mt. Vernon, OH, which should be about an hour South of you. PM me if you're interested. -
I put a Rivco stand on mine. Worked well until I put the levelling links on...I love the levelling links, but with them on, the center stand won't get the rear wheel completely off the ground. If I put a piece of 1/2" plywood on the ground first, it does the trick.

I've a decent windshield from my 06 RSV I'd be happy to donate.

I see the dimples, but do you think that could have locked the steering??? I'd think if you put enough force to bend a handlebar, it'd have forced past the dimple, or even broken something in the bearing...roller, needle...whatever it may have been. Something just don't seem right there. I'll be very interested to see what your final determination is. In any case, I'm very pleased that you came through it without a scratch.

Ditto on the Otterbox. Wife and I were in WallyWorld last week. She was sniffing the different fragrences...waxy kinda stuff that's so popular now.....set her Samsung Galaxy S6 down on top of the display and walked away. It wasn't a minute before she realized it, so we hot footed it back to the display.....maybe 80 feet away...and it was gone. I started calling it, and after 2 unanswered calls it went straight to voicemail, telling me the SOB that took it shut it down so that I wouldn't hear the ringer. Not much we could do, but when I went to the checkout there was a young couple...guy with pants sagging, girl with pink hair. When I walked up to get in line behind them, he leaned over and whispered something to the gal.....she half looked back, but wouldn't make eye contact......he kept half looking back at me, and I figured they were probably the ones who took it. Later, the wife said they were nearby when she was sniffin' around... I couldn't see any evidence of it in his pockets, but she had a purse.....Called Verizon and had it shut down. I probably should'a called them out on it, but how do you go about such a thing? Next day, and $600 later, we got her a new S7....(no insurance) She had a 4 digit passcode on it so they can't get into it, so I wonder how it could be worth anything. Diminishes my faith in humanity.

Here in Central Ohio, I was working yesterday and got about a 15 minute spell of a snow / sleet mix. WTF? We had some pretty warm days in the last month or two, and then this. Oh well....the good stuff's gotta be comin' soon.

Riding with friends, one on a Harley Night train, laughing at the wife and I at a stop light, on my First Gen, saying "Geez....is that thing even running?" It was a few minutes later on a country road.....long straight stretch.....I heard that Harley rip...so I let my 87 stretch her legs a bit and put that Harley in the dust. At the next stop light I got a bit more respect. "Geeze....that thing runs !!!" To which I agreed smugly.

I may be interested in the hand control if it's compatible with my 06, PM me and we'll see if we can work something out.

Thoughts and prayers sent. Hate to see good people suffer such loss.

My presssure washer quit, about 20 minutes after replacing the cracked pump. I pulled the plug and it didn't have much / any compression, so I figured it was bad, but took it apart just to see what happened, and the cam gear had broken. The odd thing is that the cam gear, along with the camshaft, is plastic. Even the lobes. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. Briggs & Stratton 675cc on a Troy Bilt pressure washer.

I put 'em on my 06 and noticed an immediate difference. Not earth shattering, but definitely noticeable at low speeds. Do whatcha gotta do to get 'em....easy install, and you'll be glad you did. Good luck with your project.
