Glad I didn't tow the bike to any of the events this year.

Actually, yes.... -
Actually looking to ride MORE when I retire. I've a First Gen that needs a little TLC, mostly with carbs. It's been sitting nearly 10 years with the same gas in it. Yes, I gave it a heavy dose of Seafoam, but it can only do so much. I plan on going over it in a few years when I retire, and will have the time and a decent garage to tinker in. My Second Gen. '06 Black Cherry, (The fastest color for Second Gens) runs just fine and while I don't have time to ride as much as I'd like, it's very well maintained, with only stabilized ethanol free gas, battery tender and it sits in my temperature controlled and dehumidified pump shed. I'm planning on keeping it until I can't do the 2 wheel thing anymore. I may end up with a Can-Am also once retired. I'll feel safer with Lisa on the back if I've 3 wheels. That radiator guard would look GREAT on my Black Cherry Sweetheart. Thanks for livening things up a bit.

Happy New Year to all my VR family. I hope I get to see y'all again this year. Hope the coming year brings good health, or recovery, prosperity, family, friends fun, and love.

They haven't given specifics, other than in the Poconos'. When they used to have the Cigarnival event, it was in Easton, PA, just West of Philly. The way the event went was that to attend you had to buy a ticket, which was in the neighborhood of $400, but they'd give you a small duffel, and you'd walk by all the cigar makers booths, where they'd all hand you one of their cigars. You'd end up with at least your ticket price in value of premium cigars. The food was prepared on site with a few barbecues going, and the beer was included,....I can't remember if we had to pay for liquor drinks or not, but of course, you'd tip the servers. I paid $20 for a raffle ticket once and won a 2 minute run through the warehouse, which was about the size of a Home Depot, and could keep as many cigar boxes as I could carry out. I ended up with $2300 worth of cigars. That kept me going for a while. They also had raffles where you could buy tickets and the give aways would go on for hours. TVs, electronics, humidors, cigars, swag and such. Everyone at the event was cool, having a good time, drinking, smoking and socializing. When they release the particulars, I'll post a link.

Cigarnival was a great event. Lisa doesn't smoke and dosen't much care for the smell of cigar smoke, ....(who does?)....but she enjoys the event, as did a couple of other people I've taken who don't normally smoke cigars. The food, adult beverages, and the entertainment made it a fun time. I dunno how this event will stack up, but it's definitely piqued my interest.

Lisa and I used to go to Cigarnival, which was an event hosted by Famous Smoke. It grew every year until it got to be more than they wanted to deal with. (1000+ people) It was a great event, with cigars being given away, great food and bikini mamas' walking around as beermaids. I've gone with Lisa, I've gone with friends, we took the motorhome and parked it on site for the 2 day event. We were saddened by their decision to stop doing it, although we understood why. I just came across this teaser from Best Cigar Prices, which says they're going to have an event in May, although there's no details offered yet. Seeing this got the tiny, rusty, worn out gears in my head to thinking....."Wouldn't it be great to get together with any of the VR family who may be inclined to attend such an event?" Either to simply enjoy the event itself, or maybe mix in some rides....or I dunno what. ....Any input appreciated.

Haven't had time to put the tree up yet.....Can't see the house from the road so I've never bothered decorating outside.

I'll take a little time and pray for the best possible outcome for you.

Wishing all of my VR family a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Let's all take some time today to contemplate our blessings and let those we love know that we're thankful that they're in our lives. One of the things I'm grateful for is my VR family. ENJOY THE DAY !!!

People are all over the map with this, from NO symptoms to very serious. You seem a pretty healthy fella. I'm betting you'll get through it just fine. Praying for a good outcome for you. I had it twice, was no big deal.

It's not the sort of thing you'd expect. -
Bada$$. After you've broken it in, let us know how you like it. I might have to get me one of those.....

We typically prefer to tow the bike to any events, but didn't attend any this year. We usually tow with the Expedition. As it turns out, I bought a pair of used, loaded rear tires for my old (ancient) Ford backhoe. I drove up to Cleveland for them, and loaded them on the trailer and headed home. I was about to turn onto the freeway on ramp, but heard a "creak" I didn't understand, so I went to the gas station I saw just up the road to take a last look to be sure everything was ok, and as I turned into the station, the trailer hitch let go. Not something I'd expected. Had to have Lisa drive the pickup up (2hrs) so I could tow the trailer home. I ripped the hitch completely off and headed home. I climbed around under there, finding that the frame is solid, but that cheesy hitch (factory) had completely rusted through. Musta been made in China. I tried a few junkyards, but found that this is a common problem and replacements are really hard to find, 'cause they're all badly rusted. The aftermarket hitch manufacturers don't build them as "This vehicle comes with a factory hitch" Ford considers it part of the frame. SO....I had a piece of heavy channel laying around that looked like it would make a pretty good hitch, so that's what I did. I'll guarantee it's stronger than the factory one ever was.

Wow...what terrible news. I think Marcarl said it best. Thoughts and prayers are with him.

Thankful that it wasn't worse. Thoughts and prayers up for a full / speedy recovery.

I wonder if it'd be worth trying to have it welded. (TIG)

Wow ..... Not a question that I'd ever expect to be asked. I don't rightly know what it'd take, but for someone to give an accurate answer, it may help to know if it's a first gen or second gen. I dunno if the bottom ends are the same or not. I think the first gens MKI were made from 83 to sometime in 84 or 85, First gen MKII from 85 to 93, then second gen from 99 or so until 2013.

Been doin' a one armed cleanout of the garage.

Too bad...Weather's been great....

Like Woody said....better to ask forgiveness than permission. I'm up to 6. Most of them will need the carbs gone over from sitting. One is a resto project. Looking forward to having time to work on this stuff when I retire.

Can you elaborate on what you didn't like about it?
-
Been watching with interest, and normally I may have some ideas, but just last week I had surgery to reattach a torn tendon in my right bicep......I think I'm done riding for this season. Won't be back to work 'till mid October.

Thoughts and prayers. Can you post her first name.... Nice to have a name when offering up prayers.
