  1. Just when I started to get worried, I saw he had reposted the fuse kit. Are ya OK Bud?
  2. We stayed at dandridge lake when we were moving from DC to Washington state. Was only gonna stay one night, stayed three and caught a ton of bass. Go to pigeon forge too.
  3. I know it is early but..... Pictures?
  4. Well, I have 10 days off this month, and since my wife went up to Washington to see the grandkids, I planned on taking the bike up to Utah and having my Daughter and family bring her down. We would spend a few days visiting the other two sons and then ride home....Nice try. Now They are towing a pop up trailer down for us to pick up AND the 3 oldest grandkids are coming down to stay for a few weeks. Can you fit a 9,7,and 4 year old in the saddlebags? So I am Caging it to Utah and since I have to tow a tent trailer home, I can't even trailer the bike. I absolutely love my grandkids and look forward to every minute with them...BUT, I really was looking forward to enjoying the ride to and from on the bike.
  5. http://ts3.mm.bing.net/images/thumbnail.aspx?q=1024597953762&id=8c1b179d5aac7058cce47e2730961f40 This is what it looked like back then, although this is not my actual bike. bought it for $700 in 1997 added some Troy Lee designs helmet stickers (looked good) and sold it 2 years later for $900, I saw it advertised in the paper in 2003 (He listed it as a Limited Edition Troy Lee NX-650) for $1450. I almost wanted to buy it back. OOPS sorry didn't realize I hijacked the Post. Anyway, enjoy the new Scoot.
  6. That looks like a beautiful bike. I didn't realize that when I had my Honda NX-650 that I would be seeing something similar (but a lot more power) 23 years later. I always admired the BMW Adventure series, Saw a Motoguzzi like that too. But with the Yamaha name you know that you will always have the cutting edge gear on your bike (cassette deck, carbs etc)LOL. Well at least you won't need to take out a second mortgage to have it serviced. when I had my R1150 I cringed everytime I had it serviced.
  7. Maybe he meant that the young man was thinking with the wrong part of his anatomy and the lack of blood going to his brain did it?
  8. Earl, Sorry to hear about that, Glad you're OK, I took to parking up in the hiding place by the propane tanks. So far no one has cussed me out. I'm afraid I would have got my side cutters and clipped all his valve stems just to spite him, then said OK now that your truck is shorter, can you see me now, Moron....Sorry I'm vindictive. I saw a set of Ventureline lights on Fleabay yesterday, if you're able to find another trunk. see the post in links to classifieds if it's still available,
  9. I have an extra vent from my wrecked 87 that I came across the other day, All the tabs are good and one set of vanes are perfect but It is missing 3 of the blades on the other though. If you want it I would put it in the mail to you free. I will even cover postage. Do the MKI and MKII have the same vents? PM me your address if you want it
  10. When I bought my wife her 07 Envoy, the only complaint she had was that she had to us an FM modulator to listen to her Ipod. I-Simple made a converter that plugged right in between the wires and allows her to control everything from the stereo. That was much better than changing out the factory setup for aftermarket and losing the Onstar and all the other features that displayed on the stereo. She loves it. If it is anything like that, and I can still use my BuddyRich cable for the Zumo, count me in for one when they come in. Although the converter for her car was only $89. So hopefully the price will drop as time goes on
  11. This is too funny It is important for men to remember that, as women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger. When you notice this, try not to yell at them. Some are oversensitive, and there's nothing worse than an oversensitive woman. My name is Ron. Let me relate how I handled the situation with my wife, Carol Anne. When I retired a few years ago, it became necessary for Carol Anne to get a full-time job, along with her part-time job, both for extra income and for the health benefits that we needed. Shortly after she started working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age. I usually get home from the golf club about the same time she gets home from work. Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says she has to rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner. I don't yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake me when she gets dinner on the table. I generally have lunch in the Men's Grill at the club, so eating out is not reasonable. I'm ready for some home-cooked grub when I hit that door. She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's not unusual for them to sit on the table for several hours after dinner. I do what I can by diplomatically reminding her several times each evening that they won't clean themselves. I know she really appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done before she goes to bed. Another symptom of aging is complaining, I think. For example, she will say that it is difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills during her lunch hour.. But, Boys, we take 'em for better or worse, so I just smile and offer encouragement. I tell her to stretch it out over two, or even three days. That way, she won't have to rush so much. I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn't hurt her any (if you know what I mean).. I like to think tact is one of my strong points. When doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods. She had to take a break when she was only half-finished mowing the yard. I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for a while. And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one for me, too. I know that I probably look like a saint in the way I support Carol Anne. I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible! Nobody knows better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older. However, Guys, even if you just use a little more tact and less criticism of your aging wife because of this article, I will consider that writing it was well worthwhile. After all, we are put on this earth to help each other. EDITOR'S NOTE: Ron died suddenly on January 31 of a perforated rectum. The police report says he was found with a Calloway extra-long 50-inch Big Bertha Driver II golf club jammed up his rear end, with barely 5 inches of grip showing, and a sledge hammer laying nearby. His wife Carol Anne was arrested and charged with murder. The all-woman jury took only 10 minutes to find her Not Guilty, accepting her defense that Ron, somehow without looking, accidentally sat down on his golf club.
  12. :fingers-crossed-emoAlso put in "goldwing headset" into craigslist, every once in awhile someone will be selling the helmets with them installed already, cheaper than buying the new headset by itself. I am not a fan of buying used helmets, but theres nothing wrong with taking the system off and throwing the helmet away if the price is right. for some reasong people will sell the bike, keeping the helmets for a future bike and never get around to getting one.
  13. On E-bay they have a J&M Two-fer that will get you 2 sets for your helmets at about $160, I bought this one made by Show Chrome that has an inline stereo volume control and good sound. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Show-Chrome-HEADSET-221XS-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem27b83f88aeQQitemZ170594896046QQptZApparelQ5fMerchandise. Easy Installation. My wife loves being able to carry on a conversation without shouting and it makes for a nicer ride. If you ride in a group that has them, you can carry on a conversation over the CB or attach your Bluetooth enabled GPS to it via a Buddyrich cable..
  14. I have just started noticing that my passing lights are on sometimes, and not at others. Since I bought the bike with them installed, I have never seen a switch for them. I thought they ran with my low beams, but lately if I pull up to someones back end at a light, in the reflection they are sometimes on and sometimes off. I think it is a short, but wanted to check to see if I am missing a switch. High/low beam doesn't make any diference. I guess I could rewire them to run with both. Is it better to wire a switch in, like I had on my 1st gen?
  15. OK, I miss my first gen already, although the royalstar is significantly quicker, I have too much wind even with the lower deflector wings on the forks. I was thinking of putting on a fairing to decrease the wind on the bars, but don't know if a fairing made for the roadstar would fit a 00 Stock Royalstar. I have the speedo on the tank, so no issues there. Any input? I noticed several with RSTD's that the speedo becomes the problem. Or would I be better off putting Flanders bars on and the a harley fairing. I already have a trunk and hard saddlebags in mind. Maybe I would have been better off waiting for a RSV in my price range to come along.
  16. Aim High, We have the Valero Open here @TPC San Antonio this Weekend. Military and retirees get free tickets. Try that before going to Augusta to see if you enjoy it. Tiger and Phil won't be there, but Angel Cabrera, Justin Leonard, Mike Weir, Geof Ogilvy and others. It's got prize money of $6 mil this year so it's not too shabby. And the course is Greg Normans best yet.
  17. Can you imagine how many RSV's and GW's would fit?
  18. I wouldn't try highway 6 in any kinda bad weather. Grew up a few miles from there and it is rated one of the most dangerous highways out there. but no matter what you still have to deal with I70 over to Denver as well. If you are trying to get home to Wisconsin, good luck. The I80 route through Wyoming would have been worse though.
  19. OOOOOH, My screen just cracked:whistling:
  20. I'm lucky enough to have known a little about each member and what they offer. I had a Butt Butler Mod, bought a bunch from Skydoc, etc. But if you a fairly new to the site, you may not know what they have. I guess it's a catch-22. I would like to go to the classifieds and see what's available rather than the names
  21. I found a set on E-Bay that they wanted $161.00, but they have to be made of Gold, Safety Chrome is one thing, but that's close to extortion. Luckily a fellow member put me in touch with a set for under $70. (thanks Ibent)
  22. I tried to find it at kuryakyn, but nothing. Maybe Parts Unlimited
  23. Also has anyone put this type of trunk/saddlebag combo on their RoyalStar?
  24. OK, I was riding to work today, and I noticed what looked like an RSTD at the light waiting to cross in front of me. As he went by, it looked like he had a billett cover between his cylinders kinda like the Roadstar has for the air cleaner. I may have been mistaken but since he had a 2 in 1 exhaust on the one side and I thought I saw another from the back that would indicate 4 cylinders. It looked awsome and covered up the dead space taken up by carbs inside. Any ideas or am I looking at a Roadstar. Nothing in the yamaha catalog on it
  25. Well after my family sold my dad's 69 Shelby Ragtop, I had to have a new collectible. The guy who bought the car had this little sweetie to sell. I won't tell what I paid, but I got a great deal. It is a 1999 Saleen Cobra Speedster. One of only 352 built with the cobra motor. 421 Hp Dynoed. We will keep it in Utah for awhile, but I plan on bringing it back down to warmer temps
