1. We had a couple of Mahidra Jeeps in Afghanistan that we drove around the base. They actually made jeeps for the US during WWII and a lot of soldiers talked wonderfully about them. Their diesels run real well
2. They do it every year with Dirtwheelsfor the April edition, It is amazing what they come up with, but some people believe it and even want to get in line for the release. When I bought my Prairie 650 a lot of people said that they had gone too far, There was actually a tester killed on one of them because it wheelied over on top of him. Kawasaki detuned the ignition before puttingit out. (diamond G racing fixed that)Now there are 800's and 1000's. Where does it end.
3. I am looking for a second 1st Gen and a buddy told me about this. I called the guy and he said it is in perfect shape but now I decided to wait for another one that is here in Texas. I thought I would show it t see if anyone else would be interested. Decent Price I thought Wilkie http://www.cycletrader.com/find/listing/1987-YAMAHA-VENTURE-94594570
4. The only thing that I have seen is the Garmen Zumo 550 that does it all, MP3, Intercom and Bluetooth. I went out with Tom, and he was talking to his wife while he was talking to us on the cell. I want (need)one:nanner:
5. I do remember that road, It was the first time I have scraped the pegs on her, when it says 25............it means 20 with a top heavy 1st Gen. Of course I might have been pushing it a little:2143:. It is beautiful up your way though. I am taking the wife that way in a couple of weeks to celebrate my "official retirement" from the Army.
6. I was over that way, I might have been me. I had to go to Houston, and then took a ride back by way of Austin. I'm not sure of the road you are talking about, but was is the vicinity. I had to make a fast one day trip, or I would have contacted some of Y'all over that way. Wilkie
7. Last time I checked, we hadn't had multiple wives in over 100 years, but I will ask Marsha or was it Julie, maybe Teresa,
8. I got really lucky on mine, Lonestar medic saw it on e-bay one day and I bought it the next, $3400 and the guy reimbursed me for my travel and hotal. I just went over 20,000 on it this week, Its been ALMOST too cold to ride here for the last couple days, I got down to 40 last night..............Oops gotta go, the better half wants to ride to New Braunfels for an ice cream.
9. Lonestar, As mechanically adept as you are, you should be able to combine a wheelchair with the First Gen and ride with that leg propped up ni the air, the only thing is you would alway have to mount a training wheel on that side for stop lights :rotf::rotf: Wilkie
10. I have that dreaded E1 error in the ride control system. When I open it up, then It goes away, I know it has to be a loose wire, but which one so I can fix it? Wilkie
11. I have a chance to get a a ZUMO 550 for the bike, can it be connected up my stereo on my 1st gen and use the intercom system, or should I install helmet bluetooths for me and the Mrs.?
12. He made himself a myspace website that kinda sucks but at least shows some of his work. He will use everything from lycra to ostrich skin http://www.myspace.com/lacustomsint Sapper
13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Motorcycle-Parts-Accessories__1983-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ12-Seat_W0QQitemZ120324029389QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2863QQddiZ2811QQadnZMotorcycleQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?_trksid=p4506.m20.l1116 There is this one for sale on E-bay, but there is a guy down here in San Antonio that does a great job on them for $80-$150 in good quality leather. I think he gets the leather from Mexico, so there might be some formaldehyde involved. I've seen several that he has done and like his work. I will get some pix and his contact info if you want, I had an extra seat and gave it to the guy who bought my other 87. Now I wish I had kept the pan for a re-cover
14. I'll take a set. Paypal on the way Wilkie:mytruck1:
15. I think we have a couple of Venturerider members that drive for Walmart. Tom might be able to give us an Idea how they treat their drivers. Wilkie
16. Looks Great, but I think the Handle should be "tweety"

22. My inlaws live about 4 streets over from them, They have had some great shows for about 5 years now. I think he is cutting back this year to decrease the traffic past the block Wilkie:mytruck1:
23. I had a 1972 Super Rat right from the dealer. When I sold it, I had been riding it and a kid called to look at it so I wanted to get the mud off so I sprayed it down hot with cold water from the hose and cracked the head. luckily the dealer was at the top of our street and I was able to get a new head put on within 45 minutes and the guy bought it This is what it looked like, (more dents though)
24. We got a chance to ride with Tom today, He met us at the Blue Bonnett Cafe and then rode with us through the River road down by New Braunfels, Thanx again, It was great and Marsha enjoyed meeting you, We will definitely be seeing more of the members as time goes on. Also The fact that it was sunny and 76 degrees down here helped. Not to rub it in or anything. I'm sure the snow is beautiful this time of year:stirthepot:
25. We are leaving here about 11:00. I am trying to get used to being in the saddle longer each time. The wife and I came up 281 and turned off to Boerne last Sat. Wished I had next Sat off, we would join you in Lowake, I will call you tomorrow to see if we can get together, 113 days to retirement (sort-of)
