I have just been out trying to change my diaphragms. so far I have only taken 2 off and both don't have any holes at all. But my questions are: 1. do the slides have to be put back in exactly the same way, ie if they are rotated slightly to line up the little tab on the carb body, does that mess them up. 2. The old diaphragms seem to seat easily in the outside groove of the body but the new ones seem more springy and I worry that as I tighten the cap down that I won't seat them correctly, kinda like a car head gasket without alignment pins. Am I paranoid? (bad question) I just worry that part of the diaphragm goes inside and doesn't seal

Has anybody had any experience with this ?

It looks like you could build one for 4-600 bucks, a 2500 lb winch is affordable and rollers in 6" channel iron with your bike cage made from 5" drilled and pinned to lock them together after loading. With a piece of diamond plate at each end and and a wheel block and tie points. Most of the pieces (not the metal) should be available from northern tool or harbor freight don't you think. I may have to get the welder out and make a project. I will keep you informed. I won't be as "perty" as that one but It would allow me to haul the beast to Utah and then Washington this summer without the wear and tear on the bike -
Goose, we take almost the exact same route when we go. If when you get to Durango it is still snowy, you can turn left on 160 to Cortez and go up thru Moab. The trip up to Ouray is beautiful but you don't have to make the decision until you get to Durango. I hope you and UTAdventure can get together. There is some beautiful rides all over the area. I wished I was going myself:crying:

Here's another option, although you would have to ride a GW or a Harley. a couple of hundred bucks and not have to worry about hauling it http://www.libertymotorcyclerental.com/

My friend has one of the Swivelifts that he hauls his Harley with, It doesn't add but about 150 lbs to the rear of your traveltrailer with the wheel and everything. he says he doesn't even know it is back there. He has the one that the bike sits sideways along the rear bumper

UT, Goose is headed your way next week, He should be able to help you wear the nipples off the tires

I wondered if there was a way to sort members by state, so that say I want to take a ride though Ohio, I could look and see who lives that way and then start to recognize names that regularly post and try to get together for a M&E somewhere along the way.

Here's a link to the Uintah ride, also a day trip up highway 40 to Strawberry and Soldier Creek is a great ride, Especially if Wolf Creek Pass out of Woodland is open. About 120-140 miles round trip. Go from Park City North-East to Kimball Junction Turn right to Head for Heber, Just as you pass Jordanelle Reservoir turn left to go to Kamas/Woodland. Take Wolf Creek pass to Tabiona. Turn right on Utah 209 and go to Highway 40 again Turn right and you will go back past 2 more lakes and follow 40 back into Heber and then to Park City. I wished I could be there, My wife is driving up to Utah to be watch my grandkids until June, but I still have to make a living and asking for time off after only working for them for a month might be a little presumptuous. Army Retirement doesn't pay everything when you have as many toys as I do. Good luck and let me know how you enjoy the trip. http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/2007/

Goose, one of your first rides should be from Park City heading east. I am not sure if the Road to Midway will be open yet, but if not, you can still take I-80 to kimball junction and go to Heber and Midway that way. It is a quaint little Swiss town that is fun to see. From there, you then take Highway 40 halfway down Provo canyon and turn right to go over the Alpine loop to Cascade Springs. It is a one way road with almost no traffic and climbs up through the quakies. If you were going to be there in June/July I would suggest going over the Mirror Lake Highway from Kamas to Flaming Gorge Reservoir. It is one of the most beautiful rides in the world....but it probably isn't open yet because of snow.

How do those of you with the 25" Clearview windshield like them? My wife is getting too much wind and says it goes up under the helmet making her feel like she is being lifted off the bike. I know they are expensive. are they worth it?

I have an appt tomorrow at the VA to get my vocational rehab started, figured that I might as well finish the school I started 21 years ago as an army specialist. Besides Physician Assistants make more than us lazy nurses anyway. although I will be 52 when I finish. Wilkie... who was too lazy for school before retirement

It should actually be on the shaft of the clutch pedal under the dash. look at the linkage and find a box attached to it about 2 inches square with wires on it. They usually have 2 halves that clamshell apart around the shaft going out of the firewall. I don't know on the new dodge's just the older ones. It takes about 5-10 minutes to replace and they run $15-$40

I got a 1989 Honda NX650 for $700 back in 2002, I loved it. Honda built them specifically for the Paris to Dakar rally but only from 88-92. I got a Troy Lee designs helmet decal set and "purtied it up". I put it up for sale in 05 for $1000 and sold it to the first guy who looked at it. After that I would occassionally check cycletrader to see if there were any for sale. Last year I saw MY BIKE for sale and the guy now wanted $1800.

Sturgis, I have a trailer and would have come and got you with no problem. I live in Converse but could have still been there within a short time. keep my phone number handy. Also I feel bad that we didn't give Tom a call when we were up that way on Friday. He said he was going to be off this weekend.......depending on which way you were headed you were probably only 40-50 miles from his place too

Here are a couple of pics, The first one is of part of us at the safety brief. Marsha is leaning on my bike and if you look close JB's (lonestarmedic) ugly mug is over her left shoulder sitting on the wall. The second is the courtyard of the museum celebrating 10 straight presidents that served in the military. Sorry Clinton you screwed that up too. Here's a shortcut to the museum website, pictures are welcome but I was so involved watching everything that I forgot the camera until we were outside again http://www.nimitz-museum.org/

We went out with our military contingent for a 200 mile round trip up to Fredricksburg to the Admiral Nimitz/Pearl Harber Museum. We started out at Fort Sam with a safety check on all the bikes. Lonestarmedic and I were the only ventureriders but we ended up with 26 of us, traveling in 3 groups. We headed up US 281 to Blanco for a short pit stop. As the better half and I pulled in to the gas station, I stopped next to some of the other bikes and went to put down the side stand. I went right back up and we went over on the crash bars.........Embarassed can not describe it. I have not put this bike down ever, and now in front of everyone. Marsha said it was because she was on with me, but I should have been able to hold it up with both of us. The rest of the ride was uneventful and we had a great time at the museum followed by lunch downtown. We had a great time and the weather cooperated very well. 80s-90s. JB and I had one of the other riders asking about a venture because his wife won't ride with him on his warrier(do you blame her) Pictures to follow

I got these from JC Whitney. Heres a couple of pictures of mine. They actually work well like this and don't drag in the corners at all http://www.jcwhitney.com/FOLD-UP-HIGHWAY-FLOORBOARD-SET/GP_2006697_N_111+1986+200730560+600014701_10111.jcw
