    Goose, thanks for telling me about not removing that lower bolt. I got that from the Venturer site. Should I just take the tops off the forks and dump out the old oil? Dingy, sorry but I ordered a set of SKF bearings 32005, 32006, from a local bearing shop this morning, do you know if you can order that rubber seal by itself?

    Guys- I am going to change out my steering head bearings. Do I need to order any seals? The park shark print shows part #3 as (cover ball race 2) is this just the upper dust seal? and is there one like it on the stem under the #2 bearing. I might as well change the fork oil, should I remove the top nut on the forks or use the lower drain hole? I see the part number has changed on the stem nuts, if I replace the rubber washer with a steel one do you have to replace the stem nuts? Thanks guys..

    I ordered new jets because when I cleaned them out the first time, I used a bristle from a wire brush and may have damaged them and they are not that expensive. I am also going to put the original exhaust back on to see if that has any affect. Thanks for the replies guys.

    Bike is smooth as glass at 80 in 5th gear, but at 65 gets very buzzy, same with third gear is nice and smooth at 55 mph, but gets buzzy at 35 mph. (would carb pilot circuit do this?- have new pilot jets on order) Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

    I have the exact same problem with vibration of floorboard, tank, handlebars (for about 1 year). Have sync'd carbs so many times I can't even remember. Taken carbs out 4 times (stripped and cleaned), put in another set of coils with ngk caps, a new pickup coil, fuel filter, air filter, I would pick up a used set of carbs if I new that was the problem, But I don't and cannot continue to drive the bike like this, (after 1 hour I hate it) and will have to sell it which is a shame because I really like it. P.S.-I also took it to my local dealer who said "that's normal for those bikes"

    If I may ask, where is the pickup coil located? ( I am assuming it is different from the 4 coils)I had the ignitor out and cleaned all the contacts. There is absolutely no backfiring or popping of any kind going on. Thanks for your replies.

    Just back from cabot trail east coast tour about 3000 miles for me. Here is the problem, mike bike (2002 midnight Venture-65000 miles) will run great for about 10 or 15 minutes then something happens and the floor boards, bars and even the seat sometimes start to shake or vibrate, sometimes very badly. performance also drops off, it is as if you are dragging a parachute behind the bike. It will go but you have to push it to make it go, normally this bike just wants to run with my little 165 pound body on it. The bike will run this way until you stop for gas or a drink at the side of the road then the cycle starts all over. The bike runs so fine for the few minutes it does and so badly the rest of the time (I would think it is dropping 1 or even 2 cylinders when it is running running its worst). The bike will also come back alive after running like crap for an hour, but usually only for a few minutes. Here is what I have done so far- Replaced coils, 3 sets of plugs, pulled carbs 4 times-last time I took out every valve even float valves soaked it over night, set floats according to Goose instructions,ran 5 cans of sea-foam (a couple of strong ones), sync'd carbs with morgan carbtune a dozen times or more, changed the fuel filter twice, new plug caps (NGK), Air filters have 5000 miles on them, ran with gas cap cocked a little, Any ideas you guys have would be greatly appreciated, I really love this bike, but I have spent more time working on it than riding it. If I can't come up with something there will be a wing or an ultra in my garage shortly. By the way I broke down and took it to the Yamaha dealer they said GET THIS- that's normal, that is the way those bikes run- UNBELIEVABLE! Most people would not last 1 hour riding down the hiway on this bike. All I can think of is maybe the fuel pump or the ignitor box. Any help from the great minds here would be greatly appreciated, I would really like to keep this bike. Thank you..

    I have read a couple of posts about cleaning the contacts in the kill switch. Can someone explain how to get at them. I split the housing and see a white block under the red switch, does the red switch pop off the top of the housing and the block pull out to get at the contacts? Thanks..

    Remove the bolts for the floorboard, then you can pull it back to remove the kickstand bolt without removing the linkage. (if I remember correctly)
