Yeah....with jeans, the sweathy "butt-print" isn't as noticeable. However, Dockers are a completely different story!

So...I'm torn between an Air Hawk seat cushion or a beaded seat cover. I live in Central Florida and ride the RSV to work in the morning when it's nice and cool. Often times, I have to ride between sites. When I get off the bike (because of the high high temps and humidity), my butt is soaked! Does the Air Hawk provided enough air flow to keep the "sweat factor" at a minimum? Or are the beaded seat covers really the way to go?

+1 for Avon Venoms. I just put on a set 2K miles ago...superb ride and handling. Very noticeable difference!

Hmmmm...I'm 6'3 with a 36" inseam, and in a seated position, with my heels on the floorboards, my feet tend to turn outwards. In this position, (with long legs) I would have to "roll" my right-foot inward approx. 3" to even reach the pedal. This may have to do with inflexibility....(gettin' old)...but I think it's because of the long legs!! To me..it seems like I should move the whole brake pedal forward 2-3 inches, and make the pedal approx 1-2 inches longer. Are there "custom" brake pedals that add 2-3 inches to the pedal assembly? Has anyone done something similar? Any other "long leggers" out there??? Do you encounter the same symptoms?

In order for me to apply the rear brake pedal, I have to lift my foot completely off of the floorboard to apply the rear brake. Are there any type of control/modification that would allow me to leave my heel on the floorboard and still be able to apply the rear brake? Or is this just something to live with? (It is what it is)...

I use the RAM-MOUNT cup/drink holder. http://www.ram-mount.com/Products/DrinkCupMounts/tabid/1546/Default.aspx It attaches / detaches easily, swivels in multiple directions, and doesn't hit the tank when turning.

So, with a little over 400 miles on a pair of new Avon Venoms, I gotta say...WOW! Huge improvement over the stock tires. Quieter, smoother ride especially at highway speeds. As most Venom owners state, these tires seem to improve slow speed handling, almost makes the bike feel "less top-heavy". Did I mention that I really like these tires"??

Another happy DiamondR backrest owner. Exceptionally easy to install...nice folks, too!

Resolved my PPT issue! A little 600g wet/dry sandpaper, fold it in half, slide the paper between the contacts, press PTT lightly, and pull the paper back and forth a couple of times. Sprayed with contact cleaner to remove any residue...tested TX before reinstallation...SUCCESS! All in all...pretty simple!! Thanks all, for your help/suggestions!

Yup....missed a screw. It's well-hidden behind the clutch, mirror, and reservoir. Thanks for the hint!

Is there a trick to opening the clam shell? I've removed the screw that holds the two halves together. I'm afraid to use too much force to split the shell. Is there an easier way?

Is the PTT switch easy to disassemble?

All; Up until this week, I used the CB at least once a week. Yesterday, I turned on the CB and pressed the "push to talk" button/switch. Anyway...nothing..Tried several times...still nothing... Pulled into a parking lot, got off the bike, and pushed the passenger "push to talk"...worked as expected. So it appears that the driver's CB talk switch is "broken"? Short of taking the bike in for warranty work on the switch, is there anything else I should try?

Dark Wolf; Looks like we will just miss you! Wife and I are headed to Key West on 22 June, leaving Key West 25 June, headed for Key Largo...and leaving Key Largo on Sunday, 28 June. Should be a GREAT ride!

Cut my teeth on a Commodore 64...tore it apart...added parts/switches etc. Learned assembly language out of self-preservation! Got a good background in coding/development, but I prefer hardware and architecture. I've got a solid background in IT...MCSE, MCT, MIS Degree. Been doing the IT "thing" since early 80's. Held a "Systems Architect" role (all Windows-based of course ), lots and lots of Microsoft domain architecture stuff (migrations, collapsing domains, Desktop deployments, ripping out old NOS, etc) for ~5 years. Been working as a Senior IT Windows Server manager for the last 7 years (8k users, 125 servers). Last 2'ish years, I've transitioned into a Sharepoint collaboration manager with the same company. In short I've chased all of the *new* Microsoft technologies. As long as Microsoft continues to release buggy products, I'll have a job??!!

Got pics of the decals? I'm not a "sticker" kind of a guy...I have the car saleguy remove their dealership decal/sticker/logo before I take delivery. But I might be willing to make an exception...

Update: Josh @ Lunar Accents (mfg of the LED strip in the Yamaha spolier) gave me the complete specs: Lunar Accents RED LED = 1000 mcd, 20mA, 30 degree beam LEDs like this are VERY common. There are quite a few LED peddlers that have Red LEDs in the 5000-15000 mcd (brightness) range with 30-90 degree beam angle (viewing angle). Bright enough for ya, KiteSquid? Looks like I will be in business soon! I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I just changed the plugs in my 08 RSV to the NGK Iridiums, and synched the carbs. After doing both, my MPG has increased a whopping 9% (from 41 to 45), and it seems like she has a little more "get up and go".

Thanks all for the input! Bought the bike new in July 08...got 11k miles on it already...yes...ridin' the heck out of it (Florida weather will do that to you...). I figure I've got another month or so (1k miles) before I have to replace the rear. Pretty much decided on the Avon Venoms. The front tire still looks like it has another 4-5k miles before it needs replacing. Any issue with leaving the stock tire on the front and putting a new Venom on the rear..or would I be better served replacing both (with the same manufacturer) at the same time? I may be a little tire "obsessive"...but I check the pressure every other was (READ: week) and inspect the treads. I for one, DO NOT NEGLECT my tires! I rotate and balance the tires on the Mustang every 3k miles and check the front end alignment every 6k. Set of tires for the Mustang are upwards of $1600 for the set...Z-rated, soft tires, estimated at a life of 22k miles. I get upwards of 35k miles before they need replacing. So spending $150 on a RSV tire is a relief!

Thanks FreeBird! For some reason...Metz was on my mind! I went to order a rear Venom tire, and the first question the salesguy asked was "do you want the radial?" that's what prompted my post here.
-
I know that most folks here recommend Metz & Avon tires..pretty much a given. Why do most folks buy the bias tire instead of the radial tire?

KiteSquid; I'm looking for the same effect! I'm planning on taking OUT the original LEDs (800 mcd) and replacing with brighter LEDs (1000 mcd). Net effect = BRIGHTER LEDS in the Yamaha spoiler! Question is "will it be noticably brighter"?
