The wife and I are going to take a ride to Charlotte, NC (from Orlando), and I'm looking for scenic routes. We are planning on a 2-3 day ride up to Charlotte, spend a couple of days in the Charlotte area, then a 2-3 day ride back to FL, so we really aren't in a big hurry... So I'm asking the fine folks here for some route suggestions through GA, SC & NC. I prefer to use Interstates only as connectors (20-30 miles max)....everything else is fair game! Thanks!!

So there's you and me...who is the other???

Nope...don't know Gary. A guy I work with is a reserve officer with Rockledge PD (Tony Arnovitz)...I'l ask him if he knows Gary...

I was hoping for "buy XYZ".....but there is a LOT of good data here! Sounds like a lot of folks have bought/installed the Flanders G2 and they really like 'em. From the specs, they are the same height as the RSV stock bars, but with 2.5" more pull-back. I'm gonna continue looking at Flanders to see if they have something similar to the G2s, but with maybe 1/2 - 1" more in height. If not, then the G2s it is! Thanks again for all of the expert advice!

Steve - Does the Russel seat change the height overall, or is it the same height just a different build of materials?

Even better....I'll pay YOU to listen my thoughts on making easy money. I'll send you a $200 cashier's check, if you agree to cash it and send me back $100. Deal? :mo money:

So...I've added the Baron risers....seemed to make the ache in my shoulder blades a little better. I find that there is less of an ache when I extend my arms almost fully (not quite locked), than when I ride with arms bent (45 degrees). I do have a backrest that is quite comfortable (thanks DiamondR)! Shirt sleeves are about 37'ish... I'm thinking about removing the risers, and changing out the handlebars. I hear folks speak highly of the Flanders.....Any other suggestions? How does one figure out how much rise and "pull back" is needed on the bars to be comfortable? So I thought I would ask the TALLER "experts"! What say ye?

Which way did you mount your hiway pegs? Show your pics!

Here's how I mounted mine.... I've got long legs... And I'm thinking about rolling them more "forward" and "down" to see how they feel!- 14 replies

Thanks for the info...but i got a gift card from the dealer where I bought the bike...so I'm kinda stuck buying a travel cover from "them". I'm leaning towards the Star cover to eat up the gift card....heck...I don't like buying ANYTHING from them...but in this instance...I'm kinda stuck. They also sell the Tourmaster cover for about $50 less that the Star, but them I'm still tied to the dealer (via the gift card). The Tourmaster has a good description of the interior of the cover...the Star has zilch for a description... It's AMAZING the things you learn about a dealership AFTER you buy from them....

I'm in the market for a Travel Cover for my RSV and I'm giving serious thought to buying the Star travel cover (STR-4XYTR-CV-R1). If you have one, would you mind answering a couple of questions? 1) Are the soft (non-scratching) areas for the windshield and trunk areas? 2) Are there grommets at the bottom so that the cover can be secured? Thanks!

I added the Baron's and didn't have to re-route a thing. Had plenty of slack in all cables. Sadly...the riser really didn't help much...even after moving the bars through all of their range of motion....I just can get comfortable...maybe my arms are too long?? Without the risers, my arms were more outstretched (almost locked), which created tension across the shoulder blades. With the risers, the shoulder blade pain is gone, put my arms are in more of a "bent" position, which induces it's own discomfort.

It seems like the connection between my J&M headset and the lower cable (cable-to-headset) is misbehaving. If I just let the cable hang from the helmet, tunes work fine, but the intercomm is very intermittent. If I tuck the cable inside of my jacket, it seems to relieve the tension from the connectors, and every thing work fine. What kinds of ingenious ways have you all come up with to insure that the connections stay solid? ALmost seems like I should be able to replace the connectors with some type of twist-lock connector...I'm even considering a hook&loop (velcro) fix..

Ediddy; Yep...my wife and I arrived around 12:45...hung around for approx 15 minutes, then ordered lunch. Did you and your wife eat inside? We may have seen you...but we didn't want to ask everyone walking in "you ridin' a Venture?".... My wife and I were sitting by the door... When we left, there was a red RSV with Ill/OH plates (with a trike parked directly behind), a blue RSV, and a white RSV.

That's the sound of the light coming on! I knew that the Carbtune was measuring vacuum, and that in turn was being used to synch all of the carbs to same measure of vacuum. What I was struggling with was how the measure of vacuum affected the engine's performance from a "synchronization of the carbs" perspective. So, after getting the carbs in synch, what's the next "logical" step here? I now GROK in fullness"! Thanks V7Goose!
-
All the synchronizing process does is ensure all four throttle plates are roughly in the same position (open vs closed). So, what happens if I adjust ALL of the throttle plates higher on the Carb Tune? Does that equate to the throttle plates being more open, or more closed? Seems like the relationship of each throttle plate (more open or more closed) would affect power...based on the air/fuel ratio.
-
I've read a number of threads here that give explicit details on how to synchronize the cards on an RSV using the Morgan CarbTune...basically "make all four of the bars match". Have a look at the attachment for reference. There are a LOT of smart folks here, so here goes: What is the effect adjusting all of the carbs so that their reading matches carb 4? Does this make things too lean or too rich? What is the effect adjusting all of the carbs so that their reading matches carb 3? Does this make things too lean or too rich? What are the net effects of running too lean or too rich? Any facts, conjecture or comments would be greatly appreciated! :confused07:

Skid; Been running IE 8 for a while now...have it on my laptop, desktop, and workstation at work! No issues to speak of...seems faster on the laptop and workstation. To be honest, M$ added some features I don;t find useful at all (web slice gallery and others). I do LIKE the tab functionality though!

Anyone happen to know the PPG paint code for an 08 "Black Cherry" RSV? The code on the sticker under the seat is 02c9g-010. Colorrite has the paint code for a "Venure" (no "T")....maybe just a misprint??? Thanks!
