  1. Not sure what you mean, KiteSquid. The running lights would be roughly 30% bright, and when braking, the lights would be 100%. Or am I missing something?
  2. Radiantz LED specs: Both the 1mm and 3mm spacing Flexible LEDs are rated at: 1000 mcd 0.24 mA per LED I'm going to order a strip of 1mm 85 LED lights in red. That should give me approx a little over 11 inches of brighter LEDs in the *stock* Yamaha spoiler/wing. Also going to add the dual-element circuit to give me running & brake lights.
  3. Slowly making progress on this "retrofit"! Lunar Accents specs: 800 mcd (Milli Candle Power) 30 mA power consumption The LED strip itself is 11.5" long and 1/2" wide. In essence...these are small LEDs. To make them brighter, you would have to replace the LED with a bigger LED. So...on to the next Vendor, Radiantz! Something like: http://radiantz.com/cart/index1.html?c6.html&1 Flexible Array - 85 LED - 11 1/5" - $58.71 each I'm going to call Radiantz, get their specs and see what they suggest!
  4. Yep...sent an email off to these folks last night. I hope they are willing to share thier specs! 3 May - As expected all of the emails (techsupport, support, admin & administrator@lunaraccents.com) bounced. I guess I will have to call them on Monday.
  5. Here are the pics of the OEM Yamaha spoiler internals. There are 36 LEDs mounted in circuit card. From my perspective, finding brighter replacement LEDs should be "easy".
  6. Sounds like the overwhelming concensus is to NOT GAP (use the factory gap). Thanks all!
  7. Since I don;t have it installed, I'll pull it apart and post the pics later this afternoon.
  8. Anyone know what the gap should be on the NGK Iridium plugs? Should it be the same gap as the NGK standards (.031-.035)
  9. CMIK; Is this the part number for your Genesis brake LED boad - GEN32-1157 ? http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm
  10. Here's my dilemna...I purchased the Trunk spoiler for my 08 RSV (haven't installed it). The general feedback here is that the lights in the spoiler aren't all that bright. Then the thought hits me....LEDs! Has anyone done a mod to the spoiler that replaces the standard lights in the spoiler with some "super brite" LEDs? I'm willing spend a little $$ to get a flexible bright RED LED strip and work through the installation process. What kinds of things should I consider when I start down this path? Are the lights both running lights and brakes? Are there any special considerations for using LEDs in a dual-intensity situation like this? Or am I all wet here? Certainly don't want to lay down track if someone has already blazed a trail here!

CMIK; What kind of lights are on the trunk lid? Doesn't look like the standard Yamaha light bar...but can't really tell!
  12. OK...thanks for the data. I decided to stick with the Amsoil ($40/gallon)...yeah...it's $20 more than the Rotella, but there wasn't any compelling reasons that would lead me to change brands. Buddy's post about the clutch was interesting! I may try the Mobil-1 next oil change. I seem to have problem finding neutral every once in a while...especially when stopped.
  13. Is this the one over in Cedar Key, FL this weekend?
  14. OK...maybe I just don't get it! What exactly is the purpose of a BatteryTender? Does it keep the battery fully charged/conditioned when you are storing the bike for long periods (weeks or months)? It almost seems like folks go out for a ride, and when they get home, they plug in the batterytender. I ride most every day (live in FL)...doesn't the battery charge while riding? Should I be considering a batteryTender? Or will I recognize the value of the BatteryTender the first time I hear the rrrr...rrr...rr...click...?
  15. I'm currently using Amsoil in my 09 RSV. I'm going to be changing the oil in a couple of weeks. Should I stick with Amsoil or move to another synthetic? Any harm in changing from Amsoil to another type of Synthetic (Mobil-1??).
  16. Thanks MAINEAC! The accessories I'm powering from this aux fuse panel are a ZUMO and and XM radio, so the load isn't all that "heavy". Having the aux fuse panel switched will alleviate a dead battery should I forget to turn off an accessory. As usual...VR.org to the rescue!
  17. So, if I wanted to have the fuse block I add to be hot only when the bike is running, would I place the relay in between the battery and the new fuse block? I really want the fuse block hot only when the bike is running. Or is there a better way to accomlish that? Thanks!
  18. and I'm stopped at a light (in Melbourne, FL). Another scoot pulls up in the next lane. The guy looks me square in the eye and says "what an ugly bike"! Before I can reply, the light changes and he starts to pull away. That's when I notice the Star and Venture logo. :rotfl: What the.....??? Was that you????
  19. I'm a little over 6'2, so I like to stretch my legs! I installed my pegs so that I can rest my heels on the floorboards. Here's what that looks like. HTH
  20. Based recommendations from this thread, I took the scoot to the dealer. Dealer said that the rear bearing(s) where SHOT and riding it this way is UNSAFE. That said, the dealer ordered replacement bearins/parts (5-7 day delivery), all covered under warranty. Only have 3300 miles on the bike...I'm surprised at this failure. Worse part is, the wife and I put a couple hundred miles on the scoot on Saturday (Biketoberfest), and I took the grandson out for a putt on Sunday. Guess someone was looking out for me! Thanks to everyone for your input!
  21. Sure...that is definitely "do-able"! Maybe lunch at Ashley's? This place is supposedly haunted. http://au.truveo.com/Ashleys-Restaraunt-is-Haunted-SpookHunterscom/id/1273891864# http://books.google.com/books?id=yrLlTcDtGWgC&pg=PA78&lpg=PA78&dq=Ashley's+rockledge+haunted&source=bl&ots=mdRd_gFl9z&sig=kZ8NIHyY1TBo9V4iYOGbQeKBX6k&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=2&ct=result#PPA78,M1
  22. Someone here mentioned a condition called "Dry Hub". Can anyone provide more details...maybe a fix? I've got an 08 RSV. Without the bike running, when I roll the bike forward or backward, there is a loud click coming from the rear axle. What's bad is I can hear the click with the bike running, all the way up to about 40 MPH. I tried turning up the radio, but.... Is this something that would be covered under waranty? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  23. Thanks for the data. I like to do my homework before I buy. I don't mind spending $$ for quality stuff! Spending $$$$$ is a little harder to do! Brake Pad & M61A1MECH - if you guys decide to meet and do a "trailer show & tell", shoot me a PM! I'd make a trip to see BOTH of the trailers. Maybe a M&E&TS&T (meet & eat & trailer show and tell)?
  24. One of the things that I find "intriguing" is the coupling system. Bushtec uses soemthing called a Heim joint (captured ball). Net effect of this I hear, is that the ball can swivel latitudnally and longitudinally. M61A1MECH - does that type of hitch work well? Do you have any likes or dislikes?
  25. Does anyone have an opinion on the Bushtec Quantum series trailer?
