I put a (slightly) modified Firestik splitter in the box the radio's in. I've already taken the antenna base off. The chrome you see over there is the chrome piece that mounts on top of the side bag. I reduced the image quality to make the pic smaller in file size. Perhaps too much?

I like the single antenna look and convenience. I started with the Marshall Mod, then just took it another step. The whole thing cost about $75.

Bag Rails & Fender Rail Instal_Help
Bummer replied to Long Tall's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Front fender rail: Be extremely careful how you press the sides of the fender inward to get the rear attachments in place. Don't put a thumb in the middle of the flat spot and push or you may find a subtle indentation there next time you wax it up. Funny how that stuff can work. Every time I looked it was there even though only I could see it. -
Folding backrest for stock seats?
Bummer replied to Monsta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The DiamondR back rest folds forward so that it is well out of the passenger's way. No quick release. No drilling. -
Need antenna help....not Marshall Mod
Bummer replied to Monsta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Is there anything actually wrong with your existing antenna? The antenna booster I found in a quick google plugs into the radio, then the antenna wire plugs into that. I haven't checked the Venture radio but I'm expecting the antenna wire to plug into it like automotive radios. If not it'd just be a $3 trip to the local mom and pop electronics parts shop for a set of solder in Motorola Plugs and some shrink tubing. The wire is crimp/soldered into the antenna. Am/fm antennas are not the same length as cb antennas so using one would be a compromise. Replacement antennas come with a wire attached. There's only one antenna input to the am/fm radio. I know of nothing commercially available to usefully split to two am/fm antennas. I can think of an outside possibility, but it'd be a $75 experiment which could easily fail due to a directional or frequency specific problem. I'd try the plug in booster first. -
Does your player have a built in equalizer and if so have you tried turning all the frequencies up? I had the same problem with an iAUDIO player. I adjusted all the equalizer ranges to 100% and now the volume matches everything else.

It was in the high 80s when we started up and low 90s when we got down. The ranger at the top said it was 52. Nice riding weather, actually. The only people who didn't seem to be having trouble with the altitude were the bicyclists, but then they're obviously deranged. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

These are some clips on the way down Mount Evans. The fifth clip includes some VentureRiders heading up the mountain. We had wanted to get video of them making the top but Irene couldn't handle the altitude so we had to head down earlier than intended. The shame of it all.

Glad to help out. The first time Irene and I went up Pike's Peak we started a bit late in the day, considering weather patterns. We got hailed on right after we started down. It didn't last long but it was sure a wake up call. This time we were on the mountain by nine. It rained, but it was two hours after we got down. Going there certainly changed how I viewed the Pike's Peak race. I really don't think I want to go fishtailing around many of those curves. I've been told that if I go up there again it'll be alone. Considering Irene's poor reaction to the altitude this time I certainly agree. I, on the other hand, would go again tomorrow. I loved the challenge of both it and Mount Evans.

We've been up twice. Once on an '85 first gen, and again this year. There are two sections that are hard pack with a little crushed stone on top. It's not too bad if you just take it easy. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfskQrXnccY]YouTube - Pike's Peak 2[/ame]

It really wasn't supposed to be a quiz, just a sighting on video. We're learning to use a new toy. We have video of Beartooth, Mt Evans, Cache La Poudre, and Pike's Peak. I'm trying to figure out how to deal with them so I can share them. I had to start somewhere and this was it. This is probably some of our members who rode Powder canyon on tuesday. Irene and I were going up and stopped at a wide spot. She saw them coming down. I took the video, she took the stills. We have no idea who they are.

That's rough. Dead on 465 at rush hour. No mercy there. I'm at 10th and 465. My number's in the member list. I'll be glad to help to the extent that I can. My wife and I are heading out Monday morning for the VentureRider International - the long way, so things are a little busy. I should have some free time Thursday and Friday afternoons/evenings. Feel free to call. FWIW, my first thought was the fuse gibvel mentioned.
