Progressive. They've been good to me. Max out the uninsured/underinsured coverage! It's worth it. Medical too. A crushed leg costs over $150,000 and at least six months of down time to fix. The last thing you want is to be run over by a moron in a cage, then get stuck owing the hospital because his insurance ran out, or he didn't have any.

I subscribe to Motorcycle Consumer News. I've read it since it was Road Rider. It's plain, but it's always packed full of solid information. They review a little bit of everything. It has great safety and health articles. It has no ads. I also get American Motorcyclist and MRF Reports. Every off season I re-read Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough. This is an absolute must read for all motorcyclists.

Tachometer for RSV
Bummer replied to Silver Dollar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I like the Baron's mini tach with the reservoir mounting plate. -
Irene and I are glad to hear it wasn't any worse than it was. If there's anything we can do to help please let us know.

We're looking forward to visiting! Will most of the snow be shoveled by then?

Hang in there. The third day is usually the worst due to the way nicotine is purged from the body. Nicotine is water soluable. It is flushed in your urine. The reduction in nicotine makes you irritable. That speeds up your metabolism which makes you pee more which flushes more nicotine. The flushing peaks on the third day and drops off after that. I quit a dozen times before I got over the hump and it finally stuck. That was 34 years ago. Now a days I can puff on a cigar on Smoke Out day without any problems. I can't inhale because it's a cigar - cough gag cough wheeze - so I ingest very little nicotine. Afterwards there's no desire to return to tobacco. In fact, cigarettes stink so badly that I can no longer remember how I managed to smoke the things. If you want it badly enough you'll get there. That's the single most important point. YOU have to WANT it. Kinda likin' to quit to shut up the naggers simply isn't enough. Good luck!

Street View was launched on 25 May of '07. The idea goes back to the eighties when Nicholas Negroponte video mapped a Colorado city for the Army. Richmond, Atlanta, Baltimore, Jacksonville, Seattle, Tampa, and Washington, D.C. are said to be next. Australia is expected to come on line in the second half of '08. They're also working on cities in Canada.

I find the beginning of winter to be a very awkward time. I keep banging my hand into the door trying to wave.

100's about third gear shift point with a Dyna 3k. The thing is, at that point I'm not usually all that interested in the cruise control. I guess I must be getting old.

We have a sterling silver angel bell my mother gave me in the standard manner. (I got it, gave it to her, she wrapped it and gave it to me. She also gave my sister one for her V-Star 650.) It ding-a-linged nicely while I was playing with it, but I haven't heard it since I put it on the bike. I asked Irene, she hasn't noticed it either. It showed up nicely on our Dragon trophy photos by Killboy.

I bought those myself. I'm paranoid, not superstitious.
-
I'm not actually superstitious enough to care. It's really just an excuse to get together and meet people. I'm happy to play along just for the entertainment value. Remember that by tradition the bell only protects you from mechanical glitches, which should be pretty easy on a Venture. Armando and his soul mates can still run you over anyway. I added horns and flashing lights to help ward off those particular gremlins.

Dan, If you need a swap, holler. I bought extras for pretty much that purpose. I'm set up to swap one with Mariner Fan once warmer weather comes back. You're here in town, so a swap could be set up pretty easily. All that would take is a day with dry roads.

Can somebody make a phone call for me please?
Bummer replied to spear's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hi Dan, You can't beat service like this. While you were writing this I was sending a PM. With Brad making a call and us as local backup we should be able to accomplish something. -
Kit, How much clearance do you have between the pipe and the swing arm on each side? I'm under the impression they've changed the bracket since I last saw a set. The originals wouldn't fit with my Rivco air horns. I'm wondering if there's any more space, 'cause I sure do lust for a set of those.

Got mine too. Thanks Don!!

Jim, it's great to see a progress report, especially a positive one. If things continue to go well you should be hobbling around without a cane after six months or so. I found Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough to be inspirational reading while I was down. Assuming she said yes , congratulations. Will she be riding with you? Don't worry too much about whether you'll be able to handle a Venture. If your leg is like mine was, and our situations sound painfully similar, you'll be able to ride one in March. A folding cane will fit neatly in the side bag and it's actually easier to ride than walk. Good luck with your recovery.

Change is not Yamaha's style. At heart they're still a musical instrument company. They make a solid product and then sell it for a fairly long time unchanged beyond bug fixes. This lets them charge less. Meanwhile they're designing the replacement. Which will be a solid machine sold for a fairly long time largely unchanged beyond bug fixes. I'm not mad at 'em. I have a Venture. I love it. I aim to use it up. With any amount of luck that'll take a while. Have faith fellows, they're listening. They just won't change this one. The next one should be a hoot.

I'm on the list for three. Thanks Don!

And when they hit the pavement they cause potholes. Many continue to live in their potholes until another vehicle comes close enough to latch onto. This explains why so many mechanical problems happen after getting too close to a pothole. I have a sterling silver angel bell my mother gave me hanging under the bike right now. I'm planning to add a VentureRider bell. When it comes to blessings and good luch one can't have too much.
